Kent’s Nursing Care

Knock knock.

Kent came to the front of Laura’s room and knocked on the door. The person inside was asleep, so there was no way she would answer, but he did it as a matter of courtesy before entering a woman’s room.

“Good morning.”

He slowly opened the door and entered the room while speaking in a quiet voice.

“I remember seeing people enter rooms like this on TV during wake-up pranks long ago.”

While thinking about such unnecessary things, he closed the door behind him.

He peered at Rachel’s face as she slept peacefully on the bed.

“She’s sleeping well. She must have been very tired.”

He sat down on a nearby chair and watched Rachel’s condition. Her complexion seemed poor, but it looked as though she would recover if she slept. Kent decided to leave her as she was until she woke up on her own.

After a little time passed, someone knocked on the door.

“Come in.”

After Kent answered, the door quietly opened.

“Kent-san, how is Rachel doing?”

“Ah, Caro-san. Her complexion looks a little bad, but it feels like she’ll recover if she keeps sleeping like this.”

“I see. That’s a relief. We’ll handle the shop, so Kent-san, please watch over Rachel.”

“Got it. Thank you.”

“Please take care of Rachel.”

Caro looked relieved as she quietly closed the door and went down toward the shop below.

A fair amount of time had already passed since the second shop’s opening hour. He could sense many people from the shop below. Kent thought the shop was probably bustling with many customers, just as he had intended.

Kent decided to focus on nursing Rachel.

“Mmm… hot…”

Rachel spoke while sleeping. It was already late July, and the temperature rose quite high during the day. This room did not have an air conditioner installed, so the room temperature had also risen considerably. Rachel was sweating on her forehead from the heat. On top of that, she had a blanket over her, so she looked very hot.

“I guess I’ll take the blanket off for now.”

Kent removed the blanket covering Rachel. The clothes she was wearing were the same ones she had worn before leaving the shop, and they were quite wet with sweat.

“Should I change her clothes…? She’ll catch a cold if I leave her like this.”

Kent should have called for help downstairs, but when he thought about his younger sister suffering, he could no longer think that far, and he ended up concluding that he had to change her clothes himself. Fortunately, the clothes Rachel was wearing were the shop uniform, a maid outfit. Since it was slightly revealing, it was easy to take off. Kent summoned summer pajamas from his device. All that was left was to dress her, but at that moment, Kent realized something.

“Wouldn’t it have been better to ask someone else to change her clothes?”

However, Rachel, who was lying on the bed, had already been undressed and was now in her underwear. When Kent saw her beautiful, translucent skin, strange thoughts unintentionally floated into his mind.

“Even if her appearance has changed, lusting after my little sister makes me a failure as an older brother.”

Kent somehow calmed his feelings and finished changing her clothes.

A little after noon, Rachel woke up.

“Ah, Onii-chan. I… collapsed at the shop…”

“It’s okay. For now, just focus on resting.”

“But if things stay like this, the shop will…”

Rachel seemed worried about the shop.

“Marie-san and the others are working hard at the shop, so it’s okay.”

“Huh? Why?”

Rachel was surprised that Kent was there, but she was even more surprised that Marie had come too.

“You can go take a look at the shop once you’ve calmed down. You’re hungry, right? I’ll bring something out now, so wait a moment.”

After saying that, Kent took canned peaches out of his device.

“Ah, canned peaches. How nostalgic. When I was little and bedridden with a cold, Onii-chan often brought them to me.”

Kent opened the can and handed her a fork. Rachel looked nostalgic as she started eating the canned peaches.

“It’s delicious. Actually, I was having a dream.”

“What kind of dream?”

Kent asked Rachel.

“Um, I guess it was a dream where I was playing Otherworld School Story with Onii-chan. Then the villainess kept getting in my way. I ended up shouting without thinking.”

There had been several times when his younger sister had been playing Otherworld School Story and ended up with a bad ending because of the villainess’s interference. That was the line she always shouted at those times.

““Josette. She seriously pisses me off!””

Kent and Rachel said it at the same time. The two looked at each other and laughed.

““Ahahahaha.””

“That line brings back memories.”

“Yeah… quite a lot of time has passed since then.”

Of course, the two were talking about Josette in the game. They were not talking about the Josette they interacted with in this world.

“But she’d be sad if you said that in front of her, you know?”

“Of course I wouldn’t say that. Josette-san is an incredibly good person.”

When they first met her, she had been no different from the Josette who appeared in the game, but as the two interacted with her, they realized that she was a good person.

“And to think she ended up in that kind of relationship with Onii-chan… Onii-chan, whose years without a girlfriend equaled his age.”

Rachel looked at Kent with narrowed eyes.

“Don’t look at me like that. I’ll feel depressed.”

“I don’t think there’s any need to feel depressed, though. Right now, you’re in a harem situation anyone would envy, aren’t you?”

Kent was at a loss for words.

“If you want, should I join the harem too? In this world, we’re not connected by blood, so I don’t think there would be a problem?”

Kent unintentionally asked Rachel to repeat what she had said.

“Come on, don’t take it seriously. It was a joke. A joke.”

“R-right, it was a joke.”

“By the way, Onii-chan?”

“What is it?”

“You’re the one who put these clothes on me, right?”

Rachel pointed at the summer pajamas she was wearing as she said that.

“Pervert Onii-chan.”

“Haugh!”

Kent took damage.

“I think I can move now, so I’ll go check on the shop. I’m going to change, so wait outside.”

After they had talked for a little while, Rachel said that to him, and Kent was driven out of the room.

“Sorry to keep you waiting.”

After a little time passed, Rachel came out of the room after changing into her work clothes. Her complexion had improved, and she looked like she could work without any problem.

“I wonder if I caused trouble for everyone.”

After saying that, Rachel went down the stairs. Kent followed after her.

“What is going on?”

When Rachel came down the stairs and showed her face in the shop, she raised a surprised voice. Inside the shop, there were many customers not only in the dining area, but also in the area where beauty-related products were placed, and Marie, Caro, Patty, and Laura were serving customers by explaining the products and so on. Catherine and Mike were stuck in the dining area and were being kept busy dealing with customers.

“Ah, Master, you’re awake, meow?”

Mike, who noticed Rachel, was the first to call out to her.

“Could that be you, Mike?”

“That’s right, meow. I’ve become able to help out at the shop a little, meow.”

“You powered up, didn’t you?”

Seeing Mike’s grown appearance, Rachel realized that the shop had gotten on track.

“Rather than thinking about that now, work comes first, right? The customers are waiting.”

After saying that, Rachel returned to work.

“Well then, I should get to work too.”

Kent decided to return to work as well.
