Two Fairies

“Well then, Master. Let us make a formal contract.”
Alraune fluttered the wings on her back and rose into the air. Then, when she came in front of Kent, she suddenly bit down on his hand.
“Ow!”
“Kent-san, are you okay?”
“I think it bled a little.”
A sudden pain shot through his hand, and Kent cried out without thinking. Worried, Catherine called out to him.
Then Alraune’s body glowed faintly. Soon after, the light stopped.
“Master. With this, the contract is complete.”
“I’d rather you not make a contract on your own before confirming my consent.”
“Ehh, but… I already decided this person would be my master. It hurt a little, but the perks are even better, so later you’ll think you were glad to make the contract, okay? Really, okay?”
Alraune desperately tried to appeal with her good points, but she did not seem able to explain them very well.
“I wonder if fairies are attracted to Kent-san? …No, rather than fairies, maybe it’s women… well, me too, though.”
Catherine rested a hand on her chin and thought.
“So anyway, I’ll be in your care from now on, Master.”
Saying that, Alraune rose slightly into the air and kissed Kent on the cheek.
A fair amount of time passed, and it became their usual time to wake up. Kent and Catherine began preparing breakfast.
“By the way, what does Alraune eat?”
Kent spoke to Alraune, who was sitting on his shoulder.
“I can only drink water.”
Alraune said something that sounded like a line a white robot from some children’s show would say. If water was enough, that was economical. Emily, another fairy, apparently was fine without eating anything at all, but perhaps that differed by race.
“Then for Alraune, water from the well… is what I’d like to say, but maybe mineral water would be better? Want to try drinking some for now?”
“If that thing called mineral water is water, then I think it will be fine.”
Kent took a bottle of mineral water out from the terminal, stuck in a straw, and placed it on the counter.
“Here you go.”
slurp slurp
“Byaaahhh, so goooood!”
Alraune drank it all down with satisfaction. The plastic bottle had been bigger than she was, and Kent wondered where all that water had gone.
“Well then, the big job starts here. We’ve got to wake Marie-san.”
“I’ll go wake her.”
When Kent said that, Alraune took it upon herself and flew off, fluttering into Kent’s room.
“Eh? What? Ah, not there… haa, haa… I’m going to, I’m going to—fuaaaaaaaaahhhhn. Hah, hah, hah…”
Marie’s loud voice could be heard from the room.
“I wonder if Mother is okay?”
“She’ll be fine… I hope.”
“Good morning…”
Her hair completely disheveled, and her lower body soaked and in tatters from some kind of liquid, Marie came out of the room.
“What is it? I heard a loud voice just now. Did something happen?”
Elnette had woken up too.
“I’m going to take a shower…”
Shuffling along, Marie went to the bathroom to take a shower.
“Hey, Alraune, what did you do to Marie-san?”
“I woke her up just as Master told me to, though?”
“That’s not what I mean. How did you wake her up?”
“I put out some slimy tentacles, and then… kind of like this…”
“Wah, what is this slimy thing… hyaan, stop it, stop it… not there…”
“Cut it out.”
“Ow!”
Slimy tentacles that had come from nowhere wrapped around Elnette’s body and started touching her all over. Panicking, Kent flicked Alraune on the forehead to make her stop.
“My apologies… I’ll go take a shower too.”
Saying that, Elnette also headed to the bathroom to take a shower.
“Marie-san, can I join you too?”
“That’s fine.”
“Excuse me… what is this impossible object?!”
The voices of Elnette and Marie could be heard from the bathroom.
“So this is what they mean by social disparity… excuse me a moment.”
“Hey, don’t suddenly grab my chest. My whole body is sensitive because of that weird slime, hyaan.”
Apparently the two of them were getting along just fine.
After the two of them finished showering and they all ate breakfast, Kent and the others headed to the shop.
“So this is the place where Master works. Sniff sniff… something smells.”
The moment they entered the shop, Alraune, who was riding on Kent’s shoulder, twitched her nose and said that.
“Master, get away! I thought I smelled something earthy, and it turns out—”
Emily rushed over and suddenly hurled a fork, one of the shop’s utensils, at Kent. The fork grazed Kent’s shoulder and stuck into the wall.
“Tch, I missed.”
“You’re just a low-ranking shop fairy, and yet you dare try to attack me? You’re a hundred years too early for that.”
Tentacles appeared out of nowhere and lunged at Emily.
“An attack like this won’t work on me!”
With her hand like a blade, Emily smashed apart the tentacles coming at her one after another.
“What? This house fairy… impossible…”
Alraune watched Emily’s movements in disbelief.
“To think I cannot move even a single step? Is this some kind of monster?”
Overwhelmed by a battle on too high a level, Elnette the swordswoman could not move. To Elnette, it looked like Emily was only smashing apart suddenly appearing tentacles. It seemed she could no longer follow Emily’s movements with her eyes at such impossible speed.
“Will you two stop it?”
““Hyaan!””
When Kent shouted angrily, Emily and Alraune both jumped and stopped moving.
“So? What exactly is going on here?”
A sign reading [Temporarily Closed Today] hung on the shop door. The inside of the shop had been completely wrecked in the battle just now. Somehow, they set out a table and enough chairs for everyone, seated Emily and Alraune, and around them sat Kent, Marie, Catherine, Rachel, and Elnette. Then Kent looked at Emily and Alraune and spoke.
“Alraune, for now, could you let everyone see you?”
“Yes…”
“““Whoa!”””
Marie, Rachel, and Elnette were startled by Alraune, who had suddenly appeared on top of the table.
“Sorry, everyone. The commotion just now was caused by Emily and Alraune here.”
“Big brother… is this girl a fairy?”
“Apparently so. The other day, you and Catherine bought a mandrake, right? It seems that transformed into this.”
“Heeh, a mandrake, huh…”
Rachel looked at Alraune with curiosity.
“I can feel everyone’s eyes on me… this might be kind of nice.”
Alraune twisted her body back and forth.
“I had only heard stories about fairies, but to think they really existed.”
Elnette said.
“There’s no point hiding it, so I’ll say it: Emily is actually a fairy too.”
“What did you say?”
When Kent said that, Elnette reacted in great surprise.
“The shop ended up like this today, so we’re temporarily closed. We still have time, so why don’t you tell us everything slowly?”
““Hiiieee!””
The look in Kent’s eyes as he stared at Emily and Alraune was so frightening that the two of them screamed.
