4-5 Visiting The Grave

The next day, guided by His Majesty the King, I went with Mari to visit Takeshi’s grave.
Since this world also had flowers resembling white chrysanthemums, we brought some along.
We had heard from his younger sister that he loved sweets, so we brought sweets made by Eri as offerings.
Because there was no printer, we forcibly converted the email from Mari-san into document form by combining ink and paper inside the item box using screen data, sealed it in a zippered plastic bag, and offered it at the grave.
There had been incense sticks and candles for grave visits loaded in the car, so I copied those and offered them as well.
I had also given plenty of them to the royal family so they could use them.
We recorded that scene as videos and photos and attached them to an email sent to Mari-san.
“There was no need for His Majesty the King to personally guide us.”
“I wished to do so myself. No, this is the duty of the current king.”
“I see.”
“What will you do from here on?”
I had been asked that at the royal palace as well.
He must truly be concerned about us.
“I haven’t decided yet. For now, I was thinking of visiting places in the Royal Capital connected to Take—ah, no, to His Majesty the Founding King.”
“Hahaha, his name is fine. If you and Lady Mari treat him like a stranger, my ancestor would be troubled.”
“Thank you very much.”
“Still, what a strange fate it is. To live in the same country, the same era as you, to come to another world in the same way, and then, crossing a thousand years, to become my ancestor. And… you too were a rare visitor.”
“I’m sorry for keeping it quiet. I had been threatened in quite a few places.”
“Indeed. That is understandable.”
After that, His Majesty the King spoke cheerfully about his children.
“Thanks to you, Emilio’s destination is likely to be a good one. Rather than offering him up to enemies, it seems we can send him off as a groom to a brotherly nation. Something similar happened before as well. That time was terrible. My older sons scolded those who schemed endlessly, saying that if they tried to meddle with their younger brother again, they would be tied up and presented before the charge of ‘noble slaying.’ Hahahaha, my sons have grown strong.”
“Um…”
Even I felt drained by that.
And then I thought about another possibility.
That perhaps it wasn’t Takeshi who was a thousand years ahead—but that I was a thousand years later.
Even if I thought about such things, there was nothing that could be done.
Since the PC was connected to modern time, I believed that the timeline of the era I was in probably matched Earth in real time.
His Majesty the King promised to recommend Antonio for S-rank, and said he would support the revival of Orston House under him.
He said that affair had been a shame of the kingdom that would someday need to be settled.
‘Takeshi—your kingdom has it rough too. Well, after a thousand years… Even on Earth, that’s long enough for national borders to change all over the place. But your descendants are doing their best.’
After that, Mari and I left the royal palace and went around various places.
According to her, traces of his tastes and likeness could still be seen throughout the city.
While receiving explanations, we took photos and videos and attached them to emails sent each time to Mari-san in Japan.
I thought of introducing Mari to the Guildmaster and went to the guild, but it seemed unusually busy.
Well, another time would be fine.
It wasn’t anything urgent.
Mari had been in this kingdom since long before the Guildmaster was born, and she would probably continue to exist long after he passed away.
Then I supposed we would head to Adros.
We would return to Mari’s home for now.
Leaving the guild, the two of us teleported to Adros and appeared in front of the dungeon.
But at the dungeon entrance, someone was making a fuss.
“That’s why there are signs of a monster stampede in this dungeon!”
“Don’t mess with us. Didn’t a group of dragons just get subjugated recently?!”
“That’s exactly why—three of them appearing at once is abnormal to begin with!”
I see.
At this point, I was practically positioned as an expert on dungeon abnormalities.
An adventurer I met had been taken down by a poison slime that should rarely appear, and said the way monsters were spawning was strange.
And then there was a chimera straying into unusually shallow floors.
Dragons spawning three at a time.
The ring, and its guardian.
Even now, I was encountering someone appealing about dungeon abnormalities.
Getting involved in things that required such delicate timing was one of the characteristics of my Seventh Sense.
Well, either way, there was only one thing to do.
“Hey, kid. I’ll hear you out. I’m Alphonse, an S-rank adventurer of the Royal Capital. I’m the one who subjugated those dragons.”
