My room was the best among the knights’ quarters. The room next door was meant for attendants, and Mary stubbornly insisted on using it. When the girl tried to follow me inside and even help me remove my armor, I gently persuaded her otherwise.

“Mary, you’re tired too. Go wash up and get plenty of rest.”

“But, my lady.”

“You came along as a healer, not as an attendant, didn’t you? During battle, a single healer is far more valuable than a knight.”
