The Reason The Demon God Is Safe

In the temple of the Heaven Realm, I released Magnaurus from the seal that had bound him inside the Demon Sword.
As for my promise to make him a god, I had intended to make him the god of Mithra’s world.
When the transformation smoke cleared, Magnaurus, a baby-faced young man with two horns growing from his white hair, was standing there.
However, his cute face was filled with rage, and his large double-lidded eyes were raised sharply.
Magnaurus charged at me with enough force to grab me by the collar.
“You bastard! This ain’t what we agreed on!”
“So you were angry.”
“Of course I am! Damn it, you’ve got some guts trying to trick me, huh? I could wreck your whole world, you know?”
Magnaurus threatened me with his cute face while licking his lips.
His mouth and attitude were bad, but for some reason he did not feel scary at all, so I answered without particularly minding it.
“That would be a problem.”
“Then hand over your position as god!”
“You’re already a Demon God, so right now you’re basically the god of monsters or demons, right? If you become a god on top of that, won’t you become a Demon God God?”
“Demon-god-god?” “Demon-mon-mon might be cute too.”
Kou and Liricia said that with serious faces.
Magnaurus blushed a little in embarrassment and shouted angrily.
“Hey, stop that! Don’t call me weird names!”
“Then it’s settled. You became free, so please be satisfied with that. I’ll make it so you can become the god of Mithra’s world anytime. —Kou, tell Mithra too.”
“Aye-aye.”
Kou answered casually and made the surface of her sphere glow.
Magnaurus was trembling with his fists clenched. A dark shadow fell over his beautiful, downcast baby face.
“I see… So that’s how it is.”
“Hm? What’s wrong?”
“Looks like you’ve seriously pissed me off.”
“What do you plan to do, then?”
At my question, Magnaurus put a cruel smile on his cute face and shouted.
“I’ll smash everything precious to you! Hyahha!”
Magnaurus was enveloped in bluish-white light, and his figure vanished.
It seemed he had used teleportation magic or something similar.
Liricia nestled close to me with an anxious expression.
“What on earth does he intend to do…? Will it be all right?”
“Hmm. His mouth and attitude are bad, but I don’t feel any threat from him at all. I can only imagine nothing will happen—what do you think, Liricia?”
“Y-yes, indeed. He acts like a Demon God, but I can only see him as a delicate, cute boy. He is like a younger brother who has entered puberty and is trying to act tough.”
I looked at Kou and asked.
“Do you know where he went?”
“The Mortal Realm. I’ll show the video.”
A large screen floated in the hall of the white temple.
The scenery spread across the screen was the area around the Royal Capital.
The Royal Capital itself was safe, but the surrounding land had become a miserable wasteland.
The area around the Royal Capital was one of the country’s leading grain-producing regions.
Before the Dungeon World War, the crops before harvest had grown lush and green.
Now, all of it had been ruined by the battle against the Great Demon King.
Forget harvesting—the ridges and waterways in the fields had been destroyed, the reservoirs had dried up, and the fertile soil had been scorched and melted by heat into pumice-like rock.
Even if the shape of the farmland could be restored within a year, it seemed it would take several years for the fertile soil to revive.
As someone who had been born a poor farmer, my heart ached.
—This was the biggest reason I had not handed over the position of god of this world.
The Great Demon King’s army had attacked the whole world, so the damage was enormous.
If the farmland was not restored as quickly as possible, a global famine would occur.
I had wanted to cooperate with Kou and Liricia to help everyone.
—Then.
On the screen, a handsome white-haired young man appeared above the Royal Capital. It was Magnaurus.
Because he was wearing an oversized white shirt, his thin collarbones and slender chest could be seen every time the wind blew.
Magnaurus looked down at the Royal Capital, put a cruel smile on his cute face, and shouted.
“I’ll bury this city Alec cared about from this moment on! If you wanna hold a grudge, hold it against Alec!”
The people of the Royal Capital looked up at the sky, wondering what was happening.
“Did he say Alec-sama’s name?”
“What does this mean?”
“Long live Alec-sama!”
“Is something happening?”
“Could he be offering us salvation?”
While the people merely grew confused and failed to understand the situation, Magnaurus raised both hands in the sky. Magic power larger than a mansion began gathering in his palms in a great round shape.
The swelling magic sphere became bluish-white and pure, turning into a radiance overflowing with gentle compassion.
When it became a gigantic mass of magic power large enough to envelop the Royal Capital, Magnaurus filled his baby face with an evil smile and shouted.
“Die! —Black Hole!”
When he swung his arms down, the mass of magic power fell toward the Royal Capital at magnificent speed.
Kou explained for me. Apparently, it was the strongest dark spell, forbidden and sealed away in the Age of Gods, unknown even to the Great Demon King.
However, the pure bluish-white radiance became sparkling ripples and spread from the Royal Capital to the surrounding area.
The people in the city seemed to feel their physical ailments and fatigue vanishing, and they raised cheers of joy.
Furthermore, the sacred ripples spread out, grass sprouted on the ruined earth, trees grew, and the lush green wheat fields revived.
As the people raised voices of joy, calling it a miracle of God and Alec-sama’s power, Magnaurus grew bewildered.
“Huh? What is this? Did Alec do something!? —Then how about this!”
Magnaurus descended onto a street in the Royal Capital.
In front of him was a thin old man with a bent back, walking shakily with a cane.
“Hey, old man! You’re the first one I’ll slaughter!”
“Huh? A festival?”
“Shut up!”
Boom!
Magnaurus punched away the old man, who had put a hand to his ear and was trying to listen.
The frail old man was blown away and slammed into the wall of a building.
It was a blow that shattered his jaw, broke his neck bones, and smashed his spine and hip bones apart.
However, when the old man was enveloped in bluish-white light, he stood up on both feet without even the support of his cane. Furthermore, when he crossed his arms and put strength into them with a “Hmph!”, his upper arm muscles and pectorals swelled up, tearing apart his shabby clothes.
His splendidly pumped-up upper body was exposed beneath the sun.
Magnaurus stared at the old man in shock.
The old man looked over his entire body and raised a voice of joy.
“Oh! My chronic back pain and joint pain are gone!”
“This is way beyond your chronic illnesses getting healed!”
“Goodness! Even my eyesight and hearing have improved!”
“There are other things that changed way more! Wait, did Alec interfere again!?”
“Oh, are you an acquaintance of our savior Alec-sama? I thank you.”
The old man put his hands together and worshipped Magnaurus.
Magnaurus’s cute face twitched, but he clicked his tongue with a “Tch!” and ran away.
When he entered a back alley, his figure vanished instantly.
Then, in the Heaven Realm.
When Magnaurus returned to the temple hall where Kou was, he lunged at me.
He had a strong attitude, but tears floated at the corners of his eyes, and his young face looked as if he were about to cry.
“What the hell did you bastards do to me!?”
“No, we were only watching. I didn’t do anything.”
As if answering my question, Kou cut in.
“Master didn’t do anything. Rather, this is Magnaurus-san’s own fault.”
“Hah? What do you mean!?”
Magnaurus glared at Kou.
Kou answered calmly.
“Because you stored several thousand years’ worth—no, several tens of thousands of years’ worth?—of Master’s sacred magic power, Holy Wave, inside your body, from now on, every spell, curse, and physical attack Magnaurus-san uses will become healing power.”
“Haaaaah!? Don’t spout that ridiculous crap!”
“I am completely serious.”
The truth Kou announced echoed quietly.
—Could it be that instead of his personality becoming good due to Holy Wave, he had become an existence forced to heal everything?
Indeed, from now on, no matter what Magnaurus did, he would probably become a benevolent god who only scattered sacred healing around him.
For a while, Magnaurus’s eyes were wide open in shock, but then he suddenly collapsed to his knees. Tears ran down his cheeks.
He held his head in both hands as if clutching his white hair, then raised his voice as if wringing it out.
“That… how the hell is that fair!? I endured being sealed for over a thousand years while dreaming of the day I could rampage again!”
“…Somehow, I feel a little sorry for him.”
“So that was why even though his attitude was bad, I felt absolutely no malice from him because he had become a mass of Holy Wave… He might return to normal if he uses up all the Holy Wave he has stored, but…”
Liricia lowered the corners of her brows and looked at Magnaurus, who was crying in frustration, with sympathy.
However, Kou gave a calm judgment.
“The possibility of using all of it up is not zero, but he is already packed full of Master’s Holy Wave inside his belly.”
“Yeah, I am! Not just my belly, I’m packed full of your power from my head to my fingertips! Damn it!”
Magnaurus cried out while scattering tears.
The screen was still showing the scenery around the Royal Capital.
I had thought restoration would take time, but thanks to the great spell Magnaurus released, the green woods, grasslands, and fields had revived.
—For me, it was very helpful. Though it was the exact opposite of his intention.
If Magnaurus rampaged until he used up all the Holy Wave, I thought the entire surface world might become a sanctuary.
While scratching my head, I could only offer harmless words of comfort.
“Well, um. Cheer up. Tell me if there’s anything you want. We’ll cooperate within our power.”
However, Magnaurus quietly lowered his voice and slowly collapsed onto the floor.
He lay face down and sometimes shook his delicate body. He was like a toddler exhausted from crying.
“Are you all right?”
“I don’t wanna do anything anymore. I don’t even feel like doing anything.”
“I’m sure it’s a shock right now, but if you think of something you want to do, don’t hesitate to say it.”
“There’s nothing. If tormenting the weak ends up healing them, I feel like my head’s gonna go crazy.”
Magnaurus completely sulked and continued pretending to sleep.
—I could not find any words to say to him right now.
I looked at Liricia and shrugged.
Liricia also merely nodded with a wry smile.
As if changing the subject, blue light ran across the surface of Kou’s sphere.
“Master. I have a small request and something to discuss.”
“What is it?”
“Since you became god, I want you to go greet the queen of the Fantasy Realm when you have free time.”
“Understood. What’s the matter you want to discuss?”
“Since I am a dragon-type dungeon, I need to set a dragon as the god or acting god.”
“So Rāna?”
“But she is not complete. She is in a strange state.”
“Ah, searching for the remaining jewel orb, huh. Understood. If I remember correctly, her mental age and physical age don’t match, so she is incomplete.”
“That’s right. She has the appearance of a child, the mind of an adult! An indescribable monster!”
“I don’t really understand, but I understand. While taking care of the little errands, we’ll search for the jewel orb too.”
“Thank you.”
Kou’s surface blinked happily.
Liricia nestled close to me and asked.
“What shall we do now?”
“Let’s see. First, I want to become equal with Liricia. For that, there is the dwarf problem. Kou, did you find that core?”
“Yes.”
A treasure chest appeared on the floor of the temple.
When I opened the box, brown and yellow gemstones—the Dungeon Cores—were inside.
After putting them into my Magic Bag, I said to Kou.
“Then I’m going. Kou, investigate the world and spread Holy Wave in places with severe damage to help with reconstruction.”
“Roger!”
A gate appeared in a corner of the temple. It was a teleportation gate.
Liricia walked forward, making the hem of her white clothes sway.
“Then let us go.”
Liricia and I naturally held hands and passed through the teleportation gate.
