The banquet was in full swing.
Ministers, nobles, wealthy merchants, and high-ranking officers from the kingdom’s knightly and mage orders were all happily chatting among themselves.
Flare and I were enjoying the food laid out before us.
Millet was busy greeting various guests.
I supposed building those kinds of connections was important when you worked in talent recruitment.
Meanwhile, Ram was chatting with several older women from the knightly order.
Come to think of it, Ram belonged to the knightly order’s mobile strike unit, didn’t she?
Since we didn’t know anyone besides those two, we were completely focused on eating.
Yep, this was delicious.
“This ish delicioush, Brother!”
“Don’t talk with your mouth full, Flare.”
“Ah, sorry… Munch, munch. It’s just so delicious…”
“It really is. That’s a royal banquet for you.”
“Definitely.”
We exchanged cheerful smiles.
Just then—
“Are you enjoying the banquet, Aerial-dono?”
A man approached us.
Hmm, wasn’t this person—?
“Allow me to thank you for saving the royal capital from danger. Aerial Wind, our young hero.”
He smiled.
“I am Glorious Tilt, King of Tilt.”
“It’s an honor to meet you, Your Majesty. My name is Aerial Wind. Thank you for inviting me.”
I bowed deeply.
“I am Aerial’s younger sister, Flare, Your Majesty.”
Flare bowed beside me as well.
King Glorious was only twenty-eight years old.
With his handsome features and refreshing demeanor, he struck me as a pleasant young man.
“Haha! There’s no need to be so formal. We’re here to enjoy ourselves.”
The king laughed.
“By the way, Millet has been quite enthusiastic in recommending you to me.”
He then turned to me with a question.
“I hear you’re capable of strengthening other people’s skills?”
“Yes. I can’t do it without limitations, but under certain conditions, I can raise another person’s skill rank.”
“Then would it be correct to assume that you could strengthen the skills of the knights and mages who defend our kingdom?”
“Yes. However, there are restrictions, so I can’t strengthen large numbers of people at once.”
—Not yet, anyway.
“I’ll look for a way to strengthen more people.”
“I see. I have high hopes for you, Aerial.”
The king sounded delighted.
“By the way, might you have some connection to Count Wind?”
“Yes, well… Count Wind is my father.”
I explained, feeling rather uncomfortable about the subject.
“I’m truly grateful that you came all the way from Elmeda, such a powerful nation, to our kingdom of Tilt—”
“No, actually… I was banished from my family.”
