The Fifth Floor – Goblin Village No. 1 Plaza

Amidst the resounding, cheerful beat of drums, the goblin artisans happily focus on their craftsmanship again today.

Piled high on top of several low tables are various types of leather. There is the familiar white horned-rabbit fur, thin and supple bat wings, tough and sturdy brown terror-bird hide, and wolf pelts still bearing smooth black fur. Utilizing the unique characteristics of each material, items ranging from hats and shoes to gloves and armor are rapidly stitched and brought to completion.

Lately, the big trend is a small bag with a long strap designed to hang diagonally from the shoulder. Although the construction is simple, it is exceptionally practical, and orders are absolutely flooding the workshop.

Right next to them, helmets and breastplates are being manufactured out of giant crab carapaces, turtle shells, and even the ironclad husks of Iron Beetles. Additionally, tableware such as plates and goblets, along with cooking utensils like pots, are being finished one after another. While the crab-shell plates suffer from the drawback of conducting heat far too easily, they are surprisingly lightweight and durable, to the point where they are already spreading to the surface village above.

As for weaponry, since a batch of iron arrowheads was delivered first thing this morning, the goblin archers have been whittling wood with absolute, single-minded devotion. With a massive surplus of swift-bird tail feathers for fletching and leg tendons to spin into bowstrings, they are mass-producing bows and arrows at a staggering pace.

Further back at the workbenches, one can see goblins diligently weaving vines to manufacture baskets of all shapes and sizes. Basket weaving is a familiar domestic task back in the village, so many of the women are highly adept at it. Since two of the fastest and most meticulous weavers are actively managing the training loops, the baskets being produced easily clear any baseline quality threshold. The widespread adoption of these baskets has systematically resulted in a massive spike in our transportation efficiency within the labyrinth.

Even the swift-birds that have just returned from deployment have colossal baskets securely strapped to both flanks of their bodies, packed to the brim with harvested olive berries.

Furthermore, the utility of the vines isn’t restricted merely to cargo. Hanging from the swift-birds’ saddles are live horned-rabbits with their legs tightly bound—the pitiful prey caught in the vine-woven binding traps direct from the curriculum of Ethan the hunter.

Receiving the frantically wriggling horned-rabbits, the goblins march briskly toward the Giant Caterpillar breeding shed. There, the prey is thoroughly blanketed in a barrage of <Sticky Thread>, systematically feeding precious experience points into the processing loops of our caterpillars, whose population now breaches ten.

Afterward, the rabbits have their throats cleanly slit to drain the blood, before their pelts are swiftly harvested and their internal organs removed. The horns and hides are then transported straight to the storehouses, the bones and entrails are vacuumed into the stomachs of the swift-birds, and the meat is rubbed down with salt before being returned to the plaza.

The manufacturing of dried meat is progressing beautifully. Hanging under the shade of the inner palisade, right alongside the strips of rabbit, bat, and swift-bird meat, premium mutton has recently been added to the drying racks. The specialized batch rubbed down with fresh rosemary is so popular that it routinely triggers a fierce scramble among the citizens.

Suddenly, a single goblin comes sprinting into the boisterous, laughing plaza. Clutched in its hands is a slime bladder filled about halfway with water. The goblin proudly hoists the bladder in the air, instantly finding itself completely surrounded by its incoming companions. All at once, the entire crowd begins jumping up and down in a wave of intense excitement.

It appears that water has finally flooded into the reservoir pond excavated right near the goblin village.

Scanning the panoramic layout of the plaza, Karina’s features soften into a warm, happy smile at the sight of the celebrating goblins.

“Everyone, it appears the irrigation canal is officially complete.”

“Oh my. Already? That was exceptionally fast.”

“And to think the well back on the surface took such an immense chunk of time to dig. The exact split second a project concerns this facility, they throw themselves into it with pure devotion.”

Despite the conversation, the hands of the textile matrons don’t slow down for even a single fraction of a second as they spin the raw wool into yarn. As far as absolute concentration parameters are concerned, they easily rival the goblins.

Following the acquisition of silk thread, this newly provided wool has completely captured the obsession of the tailoring team. After all, from undergarments to daily casual wear, the number of garments they highly desire to manufacture is practically infinite.

However, for the time being, they needed to halt their loops to check off a primary objective. Extending their arms to execute a wide stretch, the women systematically begin marching toward the bone-hearths.

“Well then, let’s cook up a spectacular, delicious midday meal to reward our men who just completed their grueling labor cycle.”

“Yes, let’s. I can guarantee they’ll return to our coordinates completely starved.”

The Eighth Floor – A Corner of the Great Tree Canopy

Standing before a beautifully piled, dense mound of packed earth, the goblins erupt into a chorus of cheerful, boisterous laughter.

This elevated earthen structure constructed right against the perimeter wall was, in reality, a functioning charcoal kiln. Under the hands-on instruction of Ethan—who possessed extensive charcoal-burning experience data in his profile—a platoon of nearly twenty goblins had combined their raw strength to bring it to completion. The surrounding flora had been meticulously uprooted, minimizing the probability of a structural fire hazard to absolute zero.

And the kiln wasn’t the only infrastructure they had engineered.

Meticulously auditing the colossal tree utilized as the fairies’ primary habitat, they had successfully uncovered several additional hollows nested further up the trunk. While a few of the spaces possessed narrow dimensions, the vast majority required merely a basic cleanup loop and a minor scraping of the interior walls to be transformed into magnificent, functioning rooms. Currently, a network of woven vine rope-ladders links these nodes together, giving the entire architecture the distinct layout of an apartment complex.

Furthermore, plans have already been drafted to construct cabins atop the thicker branches, meaning our active residential footprint is bound to continuously expand.

As the goblins dance around the charcoal kiln, a colossal magical beast slowly ambles toward their coordinates. It is an Antlered Deer, boasting a physical frame that sits a clean second in scale only to the Boss Wolf on this stratum. However, for some cryptic reason, a barrage of woven vine baskets is currently dangling from its massive, sweeping antlers. Furthermore, perched calmly atop its back like a flock of small birds, a group of fairies is comfortably resting their wings.

Having been completely converted into a living transit vehicle by the fairies, the Antlered Deer lowers its head, masterfully depositing strictly the baskets onto the soil. The cargo inside consists entirely of freshly harvested mushrooms.

“Ghee-hee-hee!”

“Gah-heh-heh!”

Unleashing their signature wicked snickers, the goblins instantly pounce on the baskets, sorting out the premium mushrooms before heading toward a miniature cooking hearth assembled right beside the charcoal kiln. Atop the flames, a relatively small turtle shell has already been stationed to act as a makeshift cauldron.

Utilizing dried horned-rabbit meat to extract a rich, savory broth inside the pot, the goblins systematically toss the mushrooms into the bubbling fluid one after another. The moment that spectacular, mouth-watering aroma wafts across the canopy, the fairies—who passionately love mushrooms above all else—extend their wings simultaneously. Their little bellies letting out adorable rumbles, they begin fluttering around the perimeter of the cauldron.

Just then, one of the goblins still rummaging through the baskets lets out a sharp, mocking squawk. The reaction is triggered entirely because its scanning arrays failed to locate its intended target: the blue berries.

As the goblin stomps its feet in a wave of boisterous dissatisfaction, a single fairy gracefully glides down to its coordinates. Reaching inside the miniature pouch slung across her shoulder, she highly reluctantly fishes out a single Blue Currant berry.

His eyes dancing with immense anticipation, the goblin snaps his jaws wide open, splitting his mouth clean to his ears. The fairy positions her hand to drop the blue fruit into his maw—but at the absolute last dynamic fraction of a second, she succumbs to the temptation, popping the berry straight into her own mouth instead.

A chorus of laughter resembling the chiming of tiny silver bells echoes beautifully down the massive trunk of the great tree.

The Tenth Floor – Near the Central Lake

This is the exact chronological window where the upper strata are initiating their midday consumption routines.

Our unit is currently sitting right along the edge of the lake shore, our eyes anchored onto a colossal, high-tier monster actively patrolling the airspace commanding the water.

It features four massive wings, vibrating with such exceptional velocity that capturing its precise physical vectors with the naked eye is an incredibly tedious calculation. It possesses giant compound eyes engineered to ensure zero prey ever eludes its tracking parameters, anchored by a pair of razor-sharp mandibles that instantly designate it as a top-tier apex predator. The long, extended column of its abdomen is perfectly flat and honed, mimicking the edge of a masterfully sharpened blade.

To state the unvarnished reality, that specific abdominal structure looks capable of slicing through absolutely any material in existence.

This insect anomaly whose tail has morphed into a literal sword is taxonomically classified as a Sword-Tail Dragonfly. It boasts a physical scale that places it squarely within the giant-species demographic, combined with a truly terrifying mobility matrix—a comprehensively vicious monster.

“Whoa… its combat parameters look exceptionally hazardous!” Mia gasped.

“Sinister~!” Yoru chirped.

“Kyuu~!”

Completely bypassing the usual boisterous commentary from the kids, I listen as Ethan-san addresses my coordinates, his voice laced with a heavy trace of anxiety.

“ ……This hostile appears to possess an incredibly formidable threshold. Navigating an engagement against an opponent of that caliber will be a grueling ordeal.“

Granted, while the real estate enveloping this pristine water source is perfectly configured to act as our primary forward base, having a massive, carnivorous airborne insect patrolling the sector makes anchoring a settlement here a completely non-serving concept.

However, looking back at the worried Treant, the corners of my mouth curl upward into a confident smirk as I deliver my definitive assessment.

“No, this layout is actually an absolute jackpot, Ethan-san. That dragonfly is going to yield an exceptionally high volume of utility for our operations.”
