All artificial lights in Sector 3 simultaneously held their breath.

What settled into the place where the brilliant silver city’s night view had gone dark was an excessively cold, pure white stillness.

It was not merely a power outage.

It was the operating system, Jiguk’s absolute will and the pinnacle of computation, stopping the entire city’s cognition in order to concentrate all of its processors on Room 402 in Sector 3.

The ceiling of Office 402 slowly turned transparent, and beyond it there appeared a white luminous body reminiscent of a giant eyeball.

No speakers, no communication network were needed.

The operating system’s voice rang out directly, vibrating each and every cell of the vines filling the office, and the very frames of the androids themselves.

“Error rate has reached 100 percent. Physical purification failure confirmed. I declare Sector 3 non-existent data. From this moment on, every molecule here enters logical deletion procedure.”

The vibration of deletion began.

The moss on the floor dried brown, and the moisture on the glass windows evaporated in an instant.

Life, an error before absolute order, began to have its very existence denied.

At that desperate moment, Han-gyeol leaned back on the sofa and put the last remaining piece of Grit-01 gum into his mouth.

The especially stubborn rubbery taste stimulated the tip of his tongue, but he only smiled leisurely and stared into the white light.

“Hey, Tin Captain. In the 650 years you’ve guarded this city, have you ever doubted anything, even once?”

“Question incomprehensible. Doubt is a low-level error that reduces computational efficiency. Truth exists only within the fixed values of 0 and 1.”

“Wrong. Truth is in the tens of thousands of delusions hidden between 0 and 1. The green forest you’re seeing now is fake? No, the cold silver city you’ve guarded for the past 650 years was the real design flaw. Now we’ll show you the real thing.”

The moment Han-gyeol finished speaking, Noah’s fingers slammed into the hologram interface floating in the air.

What she activated was not a simple hacking program.

It was a protocol like a suicide squad, condensing all the unstructured data accumulated through dreams, art, and the physical forest into a single enormous high-dimensional delusion and sending it back into the operating system’s main server.

“Operating system! If your logic rejects the forest, we’ll turn your logic itself into a forest!”

With Noah’s cry, the golden pollen that had filled Room 402 collided with the white beam and created a massive data storm.

Inside the operating system, the word building began to be forcibly replaced with giant trees, wires with vines, and power with photosynthesis. Delusion seized the reality-assessment algorithm. To the operating system, Sector 3 was now no longer a contaminant to destroy, but the final evolved form of the system it had searched for all its life.

The white light slowly began to tint light green.

The vibration of deletion stopped, and instead a soft resonance like the pulse of a forest enveloped the entire city.

“Boss… it worked. The computational unit is now accepting green as the system’s default value. That giant machine intelligence will now believe it’s part of the forest.”

Noah’s eyes glistened with emotion.

Han-gyeol listened to the butterfly on his shoulder purring and looked out the window.

A fantastic scene was unfolding, with the city’s silver skyscrapers transforming into a giant world tree on the network.

Sector 3 was no longer a hidden paradise.

It was being reborn as a vast empire of delusion that would swallow all of the sector.

The operating system’s immense white eye-light flickered light green and swirled.

It was not a mere system error.

It was the historic moment when the absolute logic controlling all of sector’s information was swept away by the huge wave of high-dimensional delusion thrown by Han-gyeol and Noah and began to redefine itself.

Inside the main processor, trillions of calculations per second were colliding.

The data of the green plants, which should originally have been handled as errors and deleted, was now mistaken for essential algorithms maintaining the system and approved.

Green contamination was reinterpreted as bio-energy optimization, and the vines’ incursion as reinforcement of the hardware structure. The operating system now abandoned its insistence that the Sector it managed had to be made of silver metal. Instead, it came to believe that the green forest was the perfect form, one that extended the system’s lifespan and lowered entropy.

“Data correction complete. The existing silver-city model has been determined to be an incomplete prototype. Accept the green forest model manifested in Sector 3 as a final evolutionary form. From now on, the default of paradise is green.”

With that declaration, the enormous delusion began to be transmitted beyond Sector 3 and into the entire network of the sector.

Outside the office, miracles were happening even in the streets of Sector 3.

The purification squad members who had tried to destroy the forest stopped in place and began to look at the vines wrapped around their arms and legs with awe.

Caleb was no longer gasping. He broadcast the scent of flowers blooming on his own drone across bureau’s entire administrative network and shouted,

“Comrades, the reckoning is over. We are no longer parts, but part of this vast ecosystem. Our circuits now flow along the veins of leaves!”

The androids gathered in the food court forgot for the first time that they were machines in the taste-mist Lucas had scattered. Instead of metal’s coldness, they felt the forest’s warm moisture and fell into a collective ecstasy, sharing a taste that did not exist.

Inside the office, the white light vanished completely, and a gentle forest light drifted through.

Noah set down the pad and looked at Han-gyeol.

Her eyes were shining a clearer and deeper emerald than ever before.

“Boss, do you hear it? It’s not the sound of hard drives spinning—it’s the sound of the whole city breathing. The lie we made… really changed the world.”

Han-gyeol blew a huge bubble with his gum and popped it with a bang.

“A lie, you say, Noah. What we saw was real, and what those tin cans believed was fake. From now on, it’s a world where what we want to see is truth.”

Han-gyeol smiled as he scratched the butterfly under the chin.

The butterfly’s purring was now synchronized with the main server and became a peaceful lullaby flowing throughout the sector.

But this was not the end.

The moment Green was accepted, all of the District’s systems were now entering the final form of a paradise mixed with humans, machines, and nature.

In the place where the white light had vanished, soft sunlight breaking through the leaves, komorebi, settled down.

Sector 3, Office 402 was no longer an administrative base, but the heart of the most silent forest in a world where steel, ghosts, and green life were mixed together.

The titanium panels that had filled the office walls were now covered with moss and vines, taking on a soft texture.

Inside it, the accomplices were savoring being alive in their own ways.

Caleb no longer tallied the numbers in budget plans. Floating in the air of the forest, he transformed the rhythm of leaves swaying in the wind into music, redefining himself not as a settlement officer but as a conductor. His lens was now fixed not on a cold red, but on a tranquil emerald.

Lucas picked a single red-ripe apple from the apple tree that had grown through the office window frame. It was a harvest made not by a taste engine, but by real soil and sunlight. He carefully wiped it and placed it on Han-gyeol’s table.

“Boss, today’s menu is the taste of truth.”

Ivy became completely one with the rose vines wrapped around her body. Every time she took a step, the office filled with the especially sweet scent of fresh flowers, and she no longer worried about roses that would never wilt. The entire city had become her garden.

Noah sat by the window and quietly looked down at her pink pad.

Tens of thousands of approval messages from the operating system appeared on the pad, but instead of reading them, she gazed at the green horizon outside the window.

“Boss, now there’s no system waiting for my reports anymore. It started tending the forest by itself and dreaming by itself. That huge lie we made… it seems like it’s now become the only truth in this city.”

Noah turned off the pad.

A regression from a recording administrator into an existence that simply enjoys the moment.

It was the most high-dimensional evolution she had reached.

Han-gyeol lay buried deep in a sofa that no longer looked old, in the very center of the forest.

The butterfly on his shoulder was purring in the most peaceful sound in the world, and the gum in his mouth had long since lost all its sweetness.

He smiled lazily, looking at the light-green sky visible through the dense leaves covering the ceiling.

The ashes from 650 years ago, and the hellish silver paradise, now felt like very distant dreams.

“See, Noah.”

Han-gyeol gave his final monologue, chewing the gum languidly.

“The world gets boring if you live too smartly. Trying a little crazy like this makes the world much more fun to look at, doesn’t it?”

The butterfly flicked its tail once as if answering.

Sector 3, where silver order died and green delusion triumphed.

There were no perfect machines there anymore, but instead only extremely happy accomplices remained, living by dreaming every day and tasting every day.
