A brush slowly combed through Marguerite’s flaxen hair.

Her hair, worked with fragrant oil, had become glossy and silky through nightly care. The ends were neatly trimmed, and on top of that, it underwent meticulous inspection—so there was no chance of split ends.

The one directing a serious gaze at it was Marguerite’s husband, Lucien.

‘This is embarrassing in its own way…!’

Sitting on the edge of the bed, unconsciously straightening her back and holding a prim, proper posture like she did at banquets, Marguerite thought to herself.

Neither Lucien nor Marguerite had lived lives where they leaned on others. They could accept help when it came to work such as managing their lands, but it was difficult to rely on someone over trivial, everyday matters.

Lucien, however, seemed to have found far more joy than expected in “spoiling” Marguerite, and had begun taking care of her in all sorts of ways like this.

Once he finished drying her hair, he turned her around. Next, he took her hands.

After bathing, Anna applied cream to Marguerite’s entire body. But since Lucien watched that process with unconcealed envy, her hands had become Lucien’s responsibility.

Lucien’s hands were far larger than Anna’s, and a little bony.

At first, being touched by them made Marguerite’s heart race, but as he worked the pleasantly scented cream into her skin while incorporating a massage, warmth gradually spread through her body.

‘It’s because Lucien-sama’s hands are warm…’

As Marguerite began to nod off, Lucien smiled.

Unused to being pampered, Marguerite initially grew shy when Lucien fussed over her, tensing her body with visible nervousness.

But little by little, that stiffness melted away, and she began to show an unguarded side.

When he released her hands, her body tipped toward him as if to close the distance instead.

Between managing the Clavel lands, launching new ventures, and fulfilling her duties as the lady of House de Broy, Marguerite had many responsibilities. Even when she enjoyed herself, the fatigue remained.

Gently laying Marguerite down on the bed, Lucien placed a kiss on her forehead.

He stood and headed toward the door connecting his room and Marguerite’s.

When Marguerite had first married, that door had been kept locked, but now it properly fulfilled its original purpose.

“Good night, Marguerite.”

“Mmm… good night, Lucien-sama.”

Marguerite replied in a drowsy voice.

Smiling once more at the sight, Lucien quietly closed the door.
