Just like during the exam, I asked Kate, who was good at earth magic, to make a pitfall trap.
“Is it really okay to do something like this to the school building…?”
Even while hesitating, she made the pitfall trap at the classroom entrance.
My classmates set water and lightning magic traps inside the hole.
After waiting more than ten minutes for the enemy to come on patrol.
The soldier who opened the door and entered the classroom fell into the pitfall, got caught by the activated magic traps, and lost consciousness.
“It actually worked…”
A classmate’s voice rang out in surprise.
Well, nobody normally thinks of setting a pitfall trap inside a classroom.
It was truly a genius plan that struck at a blind spot.
“Now to put the handcuffs on him.”
After hauling him back up, we restrained him with handcuffs, stripped off his clothes, and confiscated his weapons.
“Vincent, can you hear me?”
‘You are safe, Lady Mythia…!’
“I’ll tell you the model number of the weapon the enemy soldier was carrying. I think it was probably made in the southern nations.”
‘I appreciate the information, but just how did you… surely you did not try to defeat an enemy soldier, did you?’
“…I did not.”
‘You did, didn’t you! You absolutely did, didn’t you, Lady Mythia!’
It was the rare flustered voice of Vincent, who was always a calm professional.
‘Please calm down. Please stay calm and respond rationally. Lady Mythia’s safety is more important to us than anything—’
“I’ll knock them out however I can, and if I find out anything else, I’ll contact you.”
‘Please wai—’
I cut off the communication without listening to the end.
“Is that okay? He seemed like he was trying to say something.”
I nodded back at Kate, who spoke in a low voice.
“It’s fine. He worries too much.”
“If you say it’s fine, Mythia, then fine.”
After preparing the pitfall again, I spoke to my classmates.
“Is there any boy here who can imitate this man’s voice? I want him to call over the allies nearby with the communicator.”
“Imitate his voice…”
The one who said that with a dubious look was Camila.
“…Did this guy even say anything in the first place?”
“When he fell into the pitfall, he did say ‘Ah.’”
“…For now, let’s have Grisha do it. He has the lowest voice in class.”
Grisha, who had the lowest voice in class, said, “No way! Absolutely no way!” in fear, but under pressure from me and Camila, the class’s top two scariest girls, he quickly caved.
“The hostage won’t stop crying. Come here.”
After the teary-eyed boy delivered that improvised message, we waited a few minutes.
The soldier who came in fell into the pitfall, got struck by lightning, and passed out.
“Huh? What just—”
Another soldier stood at the classroom entrance with a bewildered look on his face.
(This is bad! There was another one!)
The unexpected development made it hard for me to breathe.
But in the next instant, a spark-like flash scattered, and the soldier crumpled like a puppet with its soul removed.
Smoke was rising from Roy Edwilde’s fingertips.
He had activated lightning magic.
“Next, let’s go.”
He spoke as matter-of-factly as a machine.
(As expected of the strongest in S-Class… he’s incredibly dependable when he’s on your side.)
“Grisha, do the next one.”
“Y-yes, sir!”
At Camila’s command, Grisha-kun tearfully used the communicator.
After taking down one more the same way, we changed how we fought.
“We’re going outside to take the offensive. Follow my instructions.”
Since I had scouted alone before getting captured, I had a general grasp of the situation around the clock tower.
“Can we really beat armed adults?”
“Let’s stop. The risk is too high.”
There were negative opinions too, so I chose the more aggressive, willing students and made a plan.
“Everyone wait here behind this staircase. The instant you hear footsteps descend the bottom step, unleash a simultaneous attack at their backs. Got it?”
I positioned ten classmates in ambush, and when we caught the enemy off guard, we concentrated our magic all at once.
These were classmates with the finest magical power and magical skill in the kingdom.
No matter how heavily armed they were, if ten children attacked them all at once from behind, it would be difficult to respond properly.
The soldier was rendered combat-incapable without being able to do a thing.
“We might actually be strong…”
“We can do this… we really can…!”
At those excited voices, the corners of my mouth curled upward.
Morale has a major effect on the outcome of battle.
Building their confidence and raising their motivation was also an important strategy.
After restraining the unconscious soldier and taking his equipment, we inspected his belongings and extracted information.
“Mythia! This person has something.”
It was a slip of paper folded down to about the size of a business card.
When I unfolded it, there was something inside that looked like encrypted text.
(Maybe it’s an encryption key for disabling the magic barrier.)
“Vincent. Decipher the code I’m about to tell you.”
‘Even though I told you to stay put… understood.’
Vincent let out a deep sigh, then transcribed and deciphered the coded text I relayed to him.
‘Most likely, I believe it is some sort of positional information.’
“Judging by this, it’s probably the abandoned school building.”
‘Lady Mythia, please, at least wait until we arri—’
Ignoring Vincent’s words, I cut off the communication.
(I disobeyed what an adult told me. Truly evil…!)
Smiling because I had once again moved closer to the villainess I aspired to be, I led everyone in a march toward the abandoned school building.
I had a premonition.
That was most likely the rendezvous point the enemy had set in advance.
Claris and Felix, the targets this time, were probably being held there as well.
So we would not be found, we used the forest on the grounds, took a roundabout route, and positioned ourselves behind the abandoned school building.
The abandoned school building was under heavy guard.
While I put up a thin wall of water magic and observed from outside, the number and skill of the personnel there were clearly different from the other locations.
(This is definitely the main target…)
“What do we do? We can’t catch them off guard like this, and we can’t use the same tricks as before.”
Camila spoke in a low voice.
“It’s fine. I have a plan.”
“A plan?”
After nodding in reply, I looked at that girl standing behind me.
“Because I have an exceptionally brilliant trump card.”
My classmates’ gazes all gathered on her.
She—Kate—looked around in confusion before speaking.
“Huh?”
