The next morning.

I had just woken up around the seventh station of the mine.

Waking up with the morning sun really does feel good.

By the way, the other two were still fast asleep.

Looking at the sleeping pair, I realized something. It wasn’t just the bird; Ril was also feeding on my magic power.

While investigating the flow of mana using “Sixth Sense,” I discovered that Ril was consuming even more of my magic than the bird was.

This was likely due to our soul-bond.

It seemed the effects of “Naming” continued long after the name was given. In fact, the amount of magic power within Ril’s body was currently increasing.

This was probably the true reason why a “Godparent” who forms an unsuitable contract through Naming ends up dying.

I was perfectly fine thanks to “that guy” giving me such a massive amount of magic power, but if I had been in my base state, I surely would have been dead long ago.

Incidentally, while I was probing the flow of mana, I ended up acquiring the skill “Magic Detection.”

This “Magic Detection” was actually quite useful. “Sixth Sense” only reacts to hostility or danger, but “Magic Detection” responds regardless of whether there is intent, making things much easier. Furthermore, by using these two simultaneously, I could pinpoint hostile creatures over a wide area.

I never thought I’d pick up such a convenient skill in a place like this; life is full of surprises.

“Fuwaa~ (Yawn)”

“Pyui?”

“Oh, you’re awake. Good morning, you two.”

I spoke while patting them both.

“Well then, shall we have some breakfast?”

“Now, what should we do today…?”

After finishing breakfast, I mused aloud about today’s plans.

“Can we look for something delicious that isn’t bird?”

“Ril, you’ve got nothing but food on your mind. As for the bird… wait, where did it go?”

This was exactly the time for “Magic Detection.” After checking for a moment, I found it at a slightly higher elevation.

“What are you doing?”

The bird was standing perfectly still, staring up at the sky.

Then, it suddenly took off!!

“Wait, it can fly!?”

Not much time had passed since it was a hatchling, and it was already flying?

Monster growth really is terrifyingly fast.

Wait, ah.

“It fell.”

Yep, it fell.

But it didn’t give up; it was already trying to take flight again.

“…Let’s just watch over it for a while.”

It was working so hard that I couldn’t help but want to cheer it on.

“Then I’ll watch, too.”

Ril was in full spectator mode.

Anyway, do your best, bird.
