Aria watched Kikori in silence.
Because she had a premonition that Kikori would say that.
He had been like that since the first time they met.
Though he said he wanted to live a safe life, he chose the profession of adventurer, and while he would avoid danger, he would never run from it.
Was it the influence of that thing called reincarnation, or perhaps the backlash from spending his childhood being called demon-possessed?
In any case, he would easily make his own life the stake.
That was exactly why he had a dangerous quality about him, as if he might depart for the world of death at any moment unless someone kept hold of him.
And Kikori himself was not aware of that.
No, perhaps he could not become aware of it.
Several disasters had befallen Kikori, despite the fact that he took more than enough safety precautions.
If it were only one or two, then anyone working as an adventurer would naturally encounter them.
But it was rare for this many incidents to strike one after another in such a short period of time.
That was exactly why one would become numb to it.
Compared to that, he would think this was safe.
Just as Aria had thought, the combat style called berserker suited Kikori, and he had even gained power far beyond that of an ordinary rookie, enough that he would not die from just any ordinary blow.
So what was it that caused death to approach Kikori again and again, even though he should have moved farther away from it?
Why had that coward called Eil approached Kikori, who had been scorned as demon-possessed?
Even now, Aria thought it was a wonder she had managed to restrain herself when she heard the story. Honestly, she felt like praising herself for not splitting that bastard’s skull open.
At this very moment, she ought to have spoken with Kuon as well, but even that was not allowed by the current situation.
She had also heard that he had used a spell that wrapped Mjolnir around his entire body.
It was incredibly reckless, and yet surely incredibly effective.
The essence of that thing was enchantment magic. It certainly could be used that way as well.
That was, setting aside the recklessness of using weapon enchantment magic, which had a crude construction, on the delicate human body.
However, now that he knew it could be done, even if she stopped him, Kikori would surely use it in a desperate moment.
And she also had a premonition that he would be driven into just such a situation.
Why was that?
Why did Kikori have to go through such things?
Was the God of Fate Volkralt taking a nap or something?
Or had that god decreed that Kikori was meant to become that way?
If so, then she wanted to storm the heavens right now and drive her axe into them.
However, that was not to be.
“Kikori.”
“Yes.”
“Please do not do anything that will get you killed.”
“Of course. I will come back alive.”
Kikori answered that with clear eyes.
Surely, Kikori would keep that promise.
He would do everything in his power to live, and then end up facing something that could kill him.
But the present Aria did not have the strength to fight while protecting Kikori.
And that was so… so frustrating.
All Aria could do was hold Kikori tight.
