“W-Wait, then does that mean everything inside too—”

“We ate the nuts and berries—”

“The dried red fruit was good too—”

“I liked the potatoes best—”

“Yep—”

“What about the rest of the—”

“We burned it, right—”

“It smelled human, right—”

“Yep—”

The fairies were so absurdly free-spirited that Kikori felt dizzy.

That meant he would have to get through that kobold grassland from here without any weapons or armor.

That was a bit too much… even for someone reckless with his life.

Without the support of the berserk mail, he could not even force his way through by spamming Mjolnir.

“What am I supposed to do…?”

“I’m starting to feel kind of sorry for him—”

“He’s pitiful, isn’t he—”

“Yep—”

“That’s why we should just prepare something for him.”

When Orphe said it again, the fairies looked at each other.

“Hmm. What should we do?”

“I don’t really mind, but this guy lives in a human city, right?”

“Yep—”

What did that mean, Kikori wondered.

Surely the fairies were not going to start swinging hammers and forging weapons.

As he was thinking that, Orphe smacked him on the head.

“Kikori. Are you the type who can keep his mouth shut?”

“Well, yeah, I can.”

“And that means no exceptions like, ‘It’s fine if it’s this person,’ right?”

“…If someone tells me not to say something, then I absolutely won’t say it. Wait, don’t tell me—”

“We’ve been talking about nothing but that this whole time, idiot. I’m asking because it’ll be a hassle if humans find out.”

So it really did sound like they were going to make something for Kikori.

Of course, Kikori had not the slightest intention of going around telling anyone about it.

He did not, but…

“But if my equipment changes, people are going to ask where I got it. What am I supposed to say?”

“Just say it came out of a mimic’s corpse.”

“In the human world, mimics are so rare they’re basically on the level of ‘a monster a hero happened to encounter.’”

Mimics.

They were said to be strange monsters that generated treasure inside themselves.

No one knew the exact mechanism, but apparently when they died, the mana they had stored took the form of treasure, and according to the records of a hero from the past, something called the “Unbreakable Ear Pick” had come out of one, and that was supposedly on display in the royal capital’s museum.

Well, that was apparently the kind of monster they were…

“There was a mimic corpse being kept around here, right?”

“There was, there was—”

“But isn’t that Ijirid’s bed right now?”

“Just tell him to hand it over. In the first place, he was the one who fired magic at Kikori.”

The conversation kept moving on without Kikori being able to keep up, but before long the fairies all nodded and began circling around him.

“So, what kind should we make it?”

“Let’s make it dragon-like. So nobody gets it wrong.”

“Yep—”

“What was his weapon again?”

“An axe, an ax—”

“And the armor’s the one that absorbs mana. Don’t mess that up.”

Orphe was giving instructions from on top of his head… though he could not see her, and Kikori thanked her.

“Thanks, Orphe. Honestly, this helps.”

“Hmph. I’m going to make sure you repay this debt properly.”
