“How should I put it… Even the shops are quite different.”

“That’s right. It really feels like this is a beastman country.”

Yes, even the things being sold were completely aimed at beastmen.

Helmets designed to protect ears and horns, and armor made to match physical characteristics.

And… a very large proportion of the stalls were selling vegetables.

The ones buying them seemed to be goat beastmen and cow beastmen, but… another goat beastman was biting into a meat skewer, so perhaps it was simply a matter of preference.

“Overall, it’s pretty fluffy…”

“There are some who aren’t, aren’t there?”

“Well, yeah.”

The two continued through the town while saying such things, but… the people around them were watching Kikori and Orphe even more than the two of them were looking around.

“A fairy…”

“An ordinary human and a fairy?”

“What are the guards doing?”

Only somewhat ominous lines could be heard, but… as long as they were only saying them, it was peaceful.

Three beastman men stood in their way as if blocking Kikori and Orphe’s path.

They seemed to be a cow, sheep, and dog beastman respectively. Judging from the fact that they were armed, were they adventurers?

“Hey, wait, ordinary human.”

“What do you think you’re doing, bringing in a fairy?”

“Hah?”

Orphe looked ready to pick a fight immediately, but Kikori held her back.

“She’s my companion. I also have permission from His Excellency the Defense Count here.”

“Don’t lie to us.”

“We’ll hand you over to the guards right now.”

Kikori knocked away the arm that reached out to grab him, then took out Defense Count Seims’s pendant.

“This is the family crest of His Excellency Defense Count Seims of the Fortress City of Nilgen. I am here with her because I received a request from him. Do you understand what that means?”

This was the greatest threat Kikori could make peacefully.

He did not want to think it would fail to work, but…

“!?”

The cow beastman drew back his gauntleted fist, and Kikori blocked it with his arm.

A fierce clang rang out, and Kikori staggered back as he was sent flying.

“I don’t know if it’s stewed or steamed or whatever, but do you think power from an ordinary human country works here?”

“Exactly. Let’s beat him up for now.”

“Yeah. With guys like this, it’s better to put them in their place from the start.”

As the three beastmen clenched their fists, cheers rose from the surrounding shops.

“Woo! Get him!”

“Coming here flaunting power from an ordinary human country!”

“Show him the strength of beastmen!”

In that extremely hostile situation, Kikori unconsciously felt a bead of sweat roll down.

(Seriously…? Was punching them the correct answer!? No, either way, this…)

“There’s nothing but idiots here. From my point of view, both sides are humans.”

Kikori’s different, though, Orphe added quietly, but… it was no salvation for Kikori.

“So, what are you going to do? Burn these idiots?”

“…No.”

Kikori sighed, then clenched his fists.

“They’re not using weapons either. Then I’ll do this with my fists.”
