“Alright—enough of the gloomy talk!”
The sharp clap of Aria’s hands cut off Kikori’s thoughts.
“In your case, you’ll be fine! If I think you’re heading somewhere dangerous, I’ll stop you!”
Even as she said that, her expression shifted into a wry smile.
“…Though that Break thing was a bit unexpected. I didn’t think you could use it like that…”
“That was… kind of…”
“Let’s set that aside. Right now, it’s Mjolnir!”
With that, Aria readied her axe.
The composite enchantment spell, Mjolnir. Knowing he was finally about to see it, Kikori’s tension naturally rose.
“This spell gives your weapon several imbued effects.”
First: lightning imbuement.
By imbuing the weapon with lightning that wouldn’t harm the user, it increased destructive power.
Second: an effect that made the weapon return to the user’s hand.
Even if the weapon was knocked away, it would always come back.
Finally: increased destructive power from mana being infused into it.
“…Huh? Didn’t you say ‘destructive power’ twice?”
“Exactly. That’s what Mjolnir is—a spell that says, ‘No matter what, I’m going to kill you head-on.’”
“Isn’t that… a little too murderous?”
“A lot of the stuff made by people called ‘heroes’ is like that, you know? And like I’m about to show you—this one is especially flashy.”
Aria raised the axe and drew in a slow breath.
The atmosphere around her sharpened—turning into the same edge it had when she showed him War Cry.
“…Mjolnir!”
Boom.
A thunderous roar and a burst of light ripped through the air.
And Kikori saw it—lightning wrapped around Aria’s axe.
A powerful pulse of mana, so intense it felt like it made the air vibrate.
The aftershock of lightning slammed into the ground.
A figure like an avatar of destruction stood manifested right there.
“Seeyaaaaaaaah!”
With a violent howl, the thrown axe tore through the air. When it struck the trees, it discharged a crackling blast of electricity—then flew back to Aria’s hand like a boomerang.
If he replaced the charred, blackened trees with the shape of an enemy, it was easy to understand just how terrifying this spell was.
By the time the axe returned to her hand, the lightning was already gone—clear proof that everything had been spent in a single strike.
A true one-hit kill. And depending on how much mana she had, it would probably be easy to follow up with another Mjolnir immediately.
But more than anything else, what Kikori felt was—
“Amazing…”
That one word summed it up.
Amazing. There was nothing else to call it.
“When you use it on an actual monster, magic resistance comes into play, so it probably won’t end up this completely charred… but basically, it’s a spell whose power scales in proportion to the mana you pour into it. Another good point is how quickly you can chain into the next strike.”
“With this, yeah… this really is the perfect spell for me right now.”
“Is it? Then I’m glad.”
“Yes—thank you!”
Facing Aria’s smile, Kikori clenched his fist tight.
Composite enchantment spell: Mjolnir. Kikori felt strongly that it was magic that could become his finishing move.
