That was Kikori’s honest feelings spilling out, without a trace of pretense.

Since being born into this world, the one who had given Kikori more warmth than anyone else was Aria.

He didn’t even want to imagine Aria disappearing.

And if it might be because of him, that was all the more unbearable.

That was why Kikori told Aria so, straight on.

“…”

Aria rose from the bed without a word, then pulled Kikori into a tight hug with terrifying strength.

“A-Aria-san!? Owwwwww!?”

“At this point, isn’t marriage fine?”

“Huh!?”

“Let’s go home right now, Kikori. We need to make a reservation at the temple.”

“No, wait—hey, medical staff! Aria-san’s going out of control!”

“Aria-san, please calm down! You’re hospitalized for today, okay!?”

“Hey, let go! You can’t waste a moment like this when the momentum’s here!”

“Someone! Aria-san’s still in berserk! Hurry, a sedative mana stone!”

“And you—don’t rile her up! Go on, over there!”

“Uh, okay…? Is this my fault…?”

Forced out of Aria’s hospital room, Kikori let out a breath.

“But… my heart kind of raced.”

Aria and him as a married couple—somehow, it felt like a wonderful future… but Kikori’s expression quickly clouded over.

What came back to him were the faces of his family and the villagers who had cursed him as demon-possessed.

Kikori had a previous life.

And in this world, probably… no, definitely, there had been some “people with memories of a previous life” before him—reincarnators.

But he still hadn’t come across a single book that said any of them had revealed themselves as reincarnators.

And the fact that there was even a word like “demon-possessed” meant… was it possible that “memories of a previous life” weren’t exactly a welcomed phenomenon?

Until he settled that, stepping into that kind of relationship with someone felt far too dishonest.

Yet… in Aria’s home bookshelf, he hadn’t found any books about demon possession.

It would be easy to dismiss it as a superstition unique to his village, but if that were the case, would a priest really go out of their way to deny it by saying, “Kikori is different”?

If “demon-possessed” were mere superstition, wouldn’t they say, “There’s no such thing”?

“…A temple, huh.”

If he went there, he might find answers.

He might even learn how to live with his memories of a previous life.

Maybe the time had come to face what he had kept avoiding.

“There’s still time… I’ll go.”
