“Now then, what should we do with this stalker guy?”
Misa-chan handed the metal bat she had picked up to me as I looked down at the unconscious man.
“Misa-chan…”
“This man tried to kill Onitsuka-san. He deserves to die.”
She said those words with a composure that was almost frightening.
“If Onitsuka-san won’t do it, I will.”
There was a genuine ring of truth to Misa-chan’s words.
Of course, I couldn’t possibly let Misa-chan do something like that.
Besides, if this guy stayed alive, he would undoubtedly pose a danger to Misa-chan as well.
“Hand it over. I’ll do it.”
As I took the metal bat,
“—Ngh… Guaaah…”
A groan escaped the man.
It looked like the man was starting to wake up.
“Misa-chan, head back inside first. It’s better if you don’t see this.”
“No, I’ll stay until the end, too.”
“…I see. Then here I go…”
Seeing the firm determination in Misa-chan’s eyes, I swung the metal bat back with both hands.
“One, two!”
And with all my might, I brought it down toward the man’s head.
Thud!
Thud!
Thud!
Smeared with returning blood, I brought it down again and again.
Thud!
Thud!
・・・
Before I knew it, the concrete road was splattered with the man’s brains, mashed up just like a tomato dropped on the floor.
I tossed the blood-stained metal bat right on top of the man’s body.
Tada-da-da-da-da-da-daaa!
A sound effect echoed inside my head.
“Misa-chan, it’s over.”
“Yes.”
Locking eyes with Misa-chan for a moment and then turning back toward where the man had been, the man’s corpse had already vanished, leaving only the apartment key behind.
“Let’s head back.”
“Yes.”
Slowly picking it up, the two of us walked away from the spot together.
Along the way, I thought to myself that it had been a rather brutal way to kill someone, yet I felt neither a shred of regret nor a speck of guilt.
If anything, it almost felt like the two of us had grown even closer through the man’s death.
