The world is cold and fickle—only you are the burning love of my fate, the fierce desire that belongs solely to me!
— Yan Liang
…
“Jiang, are you afraid?”
A cold hand gently stroked the man’s cheek. The woman’s colder voice made one feel as if falling into an ice pit…
“If I break your legs…”
“Would you still dare to run?”
Qin Jiang shuddered violently. Instinctive fear made him nearly bolt upright from the crimson Simmons mattress.
Immediately, he met a pair of sickly, beguiling crimson eyes.
“Jiang, look at me… Belonging to me is your destiny!”
The woman’s pretty eyes frowned slightly. She leaned in almost obsessively, a barely suppressed sickness swirling in her gaze.
Yan Liang forcefully gripped Qin Jiang’s chin, forcing him to meet her eyes.
This scene.
This familiar big bed.
Qin Jiang quickly pinched his thigh — it hurt!
This was not a dream.
He had been reborn!
Tonight was the night of his wedding to the daughter of the Yan family, a marriage forced upon him by his own biological parents. They had knelt to beg him to marry into this family on behalf of his younger brother.
Rumor had it that the Yan family’s eldest daughter, Yan Liang, was cruel and vicious, mad to the bone. Before his brother, Qin Yun, had been chosen to marry her based on fengshui calculations made with his birthdate, seven men had been chosen to dispel her wicked spirit through marriage—all seven had died.
100% mortality rate.
This made all the influential families living in the capital fear marrying into the Yan family.
Despite knowing it was a road to death, the Qin family still decided to protect the younger brother and chose to sacrifice him!
“Jiang, don’t think that if you self-harm in front of me, I’ll let you go.”
The woman’s cold, thin voice was like a sharp blade. It cut his fragile nerves.
“Yan… Aunt Yan Liang! You’re really not dead?”
“Qin Jiang, you’re hoping so hard for me to die? And don’t call me Aunt—are you still hung up on Bai Chuchu?”
“Wake up—tonight you are mine.”
Yan Liang gritted her teeth, her already sullen face grew colder still.
She was simply older in terms of which generation of the family she belonged to. She was a distant relative of Bai Chuchu, and out of respect, Bai Chuchu addressed her as “Aunt”.
Qin Jiang had gotten addicted to calling her that?
In the next moment Qin Jiang was seized by the throat. The sick, domineering, tyrannical way of pressing him down was a sign that Yan Liang had been provoked.
The suffocating feeling made Qin Jiang go into a daze for a moment.
The name Bai Chuchu made him grind his teeth—she had been his childhood friend, then fiancée for three years, yet she cheated on him with his own brother and left him for dead…
He wanted nothing more than to devour her flesh and drink her blood!
Seeing Qin Jiang briefly lose focus, Yan Liang’s gaze chilled.
The next moment, Qin Jiang was forcefully pinned down by Yan Liang.
He struggled, and his lips were punished by the woman’s biting.
“Qin Jiang, if you dare think of her again, I’ll destroy—”
Qin Jiang was gripped with madness. His fear of her from his previous life made his scalp prickle.
But he knew Yan Liang’s nature all too well!
If she didn’t get a response, she would vow not to stop.
So he stiffly gave a response, trying to soothe her loss of control.
“Yan Liang li’l… little baby, don’t be mad, hmm?”
“I and Bai… ummff!”
His lips were kissed again. Yan Liang punished him by biting on his mouth.
His reason collapsed the moment he yielded.
Qin Jiang felt the air ebb away and a dizzying spin overwhelm him…
His body instinctively resisted, but he was again forced into the covers by the woman’s dominance.
Yan Liang saw through his feigned compliance, yet she couldn’t help but accept it.
“Jiang, say it again!”
“Yan Liang baby? Baby? Yanyan baby?”
Yan Liang was delighted by the name. Qin Jiang could barely bear it.
“So obedient—what conditions do you have this time?”
“As long as it’s not going to see her, I’ll agree to anything.”
Satisfied with the kiss, Yan Liang picked up her skirt and prepared to leave.
She knew Qin Jiang didn’t like her staying in his room.
As she stood by the bedside, a corner of her silk robe was suddenly grabbed. Qin Jiang hesitated, then couldn’t help tilting his head up to look at Yan Liang with beseeching eyes.
The woman’s lips were plump and glossy, the tail of her eyes curved into a fine hook, sweeping toward her temple. Looking at her could really make one’s soul float.
He tugged the thin sleeping dress open a bit, revealing half of the woman’s fair, tender shoulder…
“Yanyan, I want you…”
“Come back and hold me to sleep.”
Yan Liang froze, then a scatter of starlight slowly rose in her eyes.
Adults naturally understood what those words truly meant.
“Fine, I’ll grant you that.”
Even though she knew well that Qin Jiang giving up everything to keep her tonight was merely because he was afraid she’d personally go after Bai Chuchu…
Her heart ached!
She would use crazier means to remind him of the reality they owned this moment.
…
“Sss!”
Qin Jiang winced as he opened his eyes in a daze.
Beneath him was the decadent bed he knew so well. Black gauze curtains were hung around the bed itself. He threw back the covers.
The glaring marks on the sheets reminded him of what had happened last night.
His body felt hollow.
The arm he’d used to prop himself up drooped down.
“You’re awake?”
In the heavily ornate, palace-style room, the curtains were drawn back. Yan Liang stood at the bedside against the light in a black gothic Lolita dress, the hem embroidered with vivid patterns—buds blood-red, alluring like vivid blood.
Her bare face looked innocently young like a twenty-year-old girl, her voice was soft and sweet.
On closer look, she seemed to have gained a few more traces of feminine charm than before.
But only Qin Jiang knew that this seemingly harmless, sweet-faced woman was in fact a little monster—sick, ruthless, domineering, and insane all at once!
In his previous life, he avoided her like she was a venomous viper or scorpion.
He sided with and believed his school belle girlfriend Bai Chuchu and his own brother Qin Yun’s slanders, rejecting and detesting Yan Liang alongside the both of them.
He even colluded as inside agents with Bai Chuchu and Qin Yun to steal secrets from the capital’s top family, the Yans, ruining Yan Liang’s reputation so she had to release him.
Once he lost his usefulness, Bai Chuchu drugged him. In his half-paralyzed state, he watched as a masked Bai Chuchu removed one of his kidneys.
Tears streamed down his face. As he supported his broken body he asked, “Chu… Chuchu, why? Why would you hurt me?”
Bai Chuchu sneered as she placed his kidney into an ice box, taunting, “Qin Jiang, you don’t really think I’d take to someone like you—a penniless grub who worked like a dog for over a decade, do you? I’m childhood lovers with Yun! If it weren’t to make you willingly be Yun’s mobile bloodbag, I wouldn’t even come within a hundred feet of you!”
“Now, Yun needs your kidney.”
“Of course I’ll personally transplant yours to him.”
“Didn’t you say you love me enough to give me your life? Now I only took one kidney, not your life—be grateful.”
Each of Bai Chuchu’s words stabbed his fragile nerves like a dagger.
Qin Jiang’s eyes nearly burst, but he could only lie in the private lab’s sickbed, barely clinging to life.
Between blurred consciousness, he heard familiar footsteps.
He weakly opened his eyes. His parents and five sisters had all come.
Second sister Qin Muyun spoke first.
“Qin Jiang, Yun’s transplant rejection is severe—he urgently needs blood. We must draw more of your blood. Yun is the Qin family’s lucky star, nothing must go wrong!”
He resisted the transfusion, using the last of his strength to fight back.
“No, I won’t give him blood!”
Smack!
Qin’s father swung his hand and slapped Qin Jiang hard across his face, the sound echoing in the room.
Pain! Heart-rending pain!
Qin Jiang weakly coughed up blood. His face was paler than a corpse’s.
Qin’s father raged, “Qin Jiang, that’s your own brother—because you stole nutrients from the womb he came out weak and sickly. As his elder brother, what harm is there in giving him some blood?”
“Besides, you’ve been donating to him for four years already—squeeze out a little more! It’s not like you’ll die!”
“Also, Chuchu is Yun’s girlfriend. You’re a jinx, so being with her would only ruin her. Don’t worry—once Yun recovers, I’ll make sure you get to sit at the head table and be your brother’s best man.”
“Number two, immediately insert the transfusion tube into him.”
His father’s words put Qin Jiang at a loss for words. Besides being broken-hearted, he was also filled with disgust.
The five sisters, seeing this, even tried to persuade him further.
“Qin Jiang, you’re the elder brother—be magnanimous, give Yun a chance.”
“Qin Jiang, it’s just a blood transfusion—an elder brother who sacrifices for his brother is a good brother.”
Damn them. Damn them all to hell.
They’re not the ones giving blood, so they talk about personal sacrifice and being generous easily.
After returning to the Qin family for four years, he craved kinship and tried desperately to fit in. Eldest sister Qin Moyun was a finance CEO, so he frantically studied finance, got certified in three months, worked nights on her proposals and projects, secretly helping her grow her assets into the top five in East Asia.
Second sister Qin Muyun was a doctor devoted to herbal medicine. He risked his life entering rainforests alone to gather rare herbs for her research, barely escaping death many times without complaint.
Third sister Qin Xiangyun was a racing ace. He racked his brain designing and modifying the perfect car for her, steadfastly protecting her path to become a racing god.
Fourth sister Qin Shuyun was an award-winning actress. He quietly tailored hit scripts and pulled investment for her, never asking for credit, single-handedly pushing her to the peak of popularity!
When she fell from a wire and was disfigured beyond what domestic cosmetic surgeons could do for her, he didn’t give up—he went abroad to study the most advanced reconstructive techniques and restored her looks so she could return to being the queen of films.
Fifth sister Qin Qianyun studied with him at Hua University, but she got into trouble by destroying an upperclassman’s research project. She ended up pinning it on Qin Jiang and caused him to be expelled from Hua University…
For four years he worked diligently to integrate into the Qin family, thinking of them as blood relatives and willing to give everything.
Yet he could not warm their hearts at all!
On the day he died…
Second Sister Qin Muyun stood in a crisp women’s suit which showcased her proud figure. Calm and gentle in temperament, she looked down at Qin Yun’s weak, wretched form, her brow slightly furrowed.
Her heart felt as if a small insect had lightly stung her, but it passed in an instant.
Seeing her second sister hesitate, fourth sister Qin Shuyun decisively stepped forward, snatched the transfusion needle and plunged it deep into Qin Jiang’s vein…
“Yun worked himself to ruin trying to restore my looks, which caused his kidney to fail.
Qin Jiang, don’t hold a grudge against Yun—this kidney and this blood will be considered a debt Fourth Sister owes you.“
His Second Sister’s face instantly relaxed as if a weight had been lifted.
There was hope for Yun.
Qin Jiang despaired. If there was a next life, he’d demand that kidney from Qin Shuyun!
For seven whole days Qin Jiang was nearly drained to a husk.
Death was within reach.
He silently awaited death…
Thud, thud, thud…
Familiar high heels sounded. A woman in a blood-red Lolita dress swayed with seaweed-like dark red hair, cradling a rag doll bound with chains.
Yan Liang’s pure, gorgeous features and the ends of her eyes showed a tempting wickedness.
Before long, the Qin family members—with missing arms and legs and covered in blood—were flung to the floor beside his bed by her bodyguards.
The woman pursed her red lips and crouched, her eyes glittered with morbid delight—innocent, yet evil.
“Those who bullied my dearest Jiang will be made into a doll.”
Yan Liang reached out and used a blood-stained small sickle to slowly lift Bai Chuchu’s flayed face.
“What a pity—if I had skinned you earlier, turned you into a doll and put you in the bridal chamber I share with Jiang, maybe he wouldn’t have run away?” the woman mumbled to herself, then sliced Bai Chuchu’s throat with the back of her hand.
Blood gushed madly. Yan Liang suddenly laughed out loud.
She casually wiped the spattered blood from her cheek with a silk handkerchief, then shifted her gaze to the Qin family members.
The Qin family completely panicked.
“The rumors were right—you…you’re a monster!”
“Help! Help! Help!”
But no one answered.
Before dying, Qin Jiang saw her personally remove Qin Yun’s kidney and drain his blood dry.
“Jiang is mine!”
“His blood—you don’t deserve to touch a single drop!”
Qin Jiang witnessed a real massacre, yet for the first time he felt no fear.
He saw the blood-splattered woman finally finish what she came to do. Tired, she came to his bedside, her pale fingertips stroking his rough skin. She let go of the rag doll and crawled into his cold arms.
Click—a chain was securely fastened around both their wrists.
“Be good, Jiang—don’t push me away this time, Then we’ll never be apart again.”
Qin Jiang hoarsely screamed, using his last strength: “Go! Get out!”
“There’s a time bomb here!”
Bai Chuchu had planned to silence him—he was drained of blood over seven days, which became his last days.
An explosion sounded.
But Yan Liang turned and pulled him tightly into her arms.
She said, “Jiang, don’t be afraid… Yanyan is here.”
Before dying, she held him and smiled with satisfaction. “Now I have nothing, but I still have you.”
“Jiang… if there’s a next life, will you obediently stay by my side?”
Qin Jiang sobbed uncontrollably—he didn’t deserve it!
Yet he couldn’t help but nod and hold Yan Liang tightly.
“I promise you.”
If there’s a next life, I shall not fail you!
We promised each other!
…
The memories of his past life were too painful. Qin Jiang couldn’t help but feel his nose prick with sorrow.
Yan Liang lifted the curtain around the bed and saw Qin Jiang’s wan, despairing state.
It seemed he truly regretted it.
Seeing Qin Jiang’s reddened eyes, she couldn’t help stepping forward to gently stroke his face.
A flash of regret and self-mockery crossed her eyes.
Was he upset because he couldn’t remain chaste toward Bai Chuchu?
Did he really love Bai Chuchu that much?
“I won’t touch you again, but don’t think you can escape!”
Then his jaw was arrogantly lifted.
“In this life, you can only be my man!”
The next moment, he felt a familiar icy touch around his wrist.
Click!
The lock clicked shut, as if coinciding with the final vow from his past life.
Qin Jiang’s body reflexively recoiled in panic.
Panic, fear, resistance!
Yan Liang’s eyes darkened. Without looking back, she stormed out.
Qin Jiang felt weak all over. After taking a long time to regain his strength, he got up and, following the memories of his past life, found where Yan Liang kept her keys.
Pak!
The chain clattered to the floor.
Qin Jiang rose and went to the mirror. At first glance, he nearly vomited at his appearance.
He… This was what he looked like when Yan Liang devoured him last night?
She sure had…strange tastes in men.
Yan Liang must have been truly hungry!
