Qin Jiang’s attempt to disavow the relationship was, to them, clearly the result of being mentally disturbed by shock.
After all, men who went to bring luck to Yan Liang never returned alive. Qin Jiang coming back unharmed physically must mean he suffered severe psychological trauma.
They could kindly choose not to make a fuss.
Eldest Sister Qin Moyun stepped forward with a frown as she suppressed her disdain for Qin Jiang, and habitually snapped at him, “Qin Jiang, Eldest Sister understands how you feel now—serving that monster Yan Liang, being imprisoned and humiliated by her must have been unbearable. If you want to cut ties with our whole family, I suppose it’s to protect us from that monster’s retaliation.”
“But that’s no reason for you to slap Yun around as you please. If you want to move your name out of our household registration, we can agree to that.”
“However, the honor and prize money from the Huajing University tech competition you must return to Yun!”
“Also, immediately give Yun a ninety-degree bow to apologize, and then donate blood to Yun for one night!”
“Otherwise… don’t blame us for enforcing family discipline.”
As the eldest sister of the Qin family, Qin Moyun held absolute authority and voice in the household.
As a female CEO in the finance world who carved out a space in the capital city, it showed her exceptional business acumen and iron will.
She was negotiating with Qin Jiang now was only because he was her brother, so she reluctantly offered him a way out.
And Qin Jiang had better not be ungrateful!
Qin Jiang almost laughed aloud hearing Qin Moyun’s confident speech.
This woman was so good at deceiving others and herself.
It was as though she had put blinders on herself – the reason she had come up with to justify his decision was simply absurd.
“Pui! The tech competition results from Huajing University were clearly produced by my day-and-night efforts over more than half a month—how dare Qin Yun act like that honor belongs to him?”
“Besides, Yanyan is not a monster—she’s my wife. If any of you dare say a bad word about her again, don’t blame me for being ruthless!”
Qin Jiang’s expression turned cold.
Facing the Qin family now, he felt hatred wash over him, but he would not act rashly.
True torment was to make them lose what they desired most, to destroy their convictions and annihilate their spirit—that was the most terrifying.
He would design this revenge himself.
“Qin Jiang, Eldest Sister is advising you for your own good, don’t be ungrateful!”
Fourth Sister Qin Shuyun saw this and felt even more that Qin Jiang had gone mad.
If it were the old Qin Jiang, he would have been ingratiatingly circling his sisters, fawning and showing concern the minute he stepped into the house.
He had never contradicted or disobeyed them.
For a moment, the atmosphere became extremely tense.
Qin Yun still hoped for Qin Jiang’s blood, so he weakly stepped forward to act as peacemaker and magnanimously said, “Brother Qin Jiang, it’s okay, let that research design be credited to you. You married into the Yan family and suffered for me, I shouldn’t have still tried to take the honor from you, I’m sorry…”
Qin Yun’s teary eyes still pierced the hearts of those present.
As the younger brother, Qin Yun magnanimously gave up, swallowing his grievances and conceding at every step.
Instead the elder brother, Qin Jiang, seemed petty and kept being demanding.
Which one of them had the better character and breadth of mind was instantly clear.
“A substitute marriage is one thing, stealing honor is stealing honor—you can’t lump them together.”
“Qin Jiang, it was you who agreed to our request to have you marry into the Yan family to bring luck to Yan Liang. Yun was gravely ill at the time and didn’t participate in the discussions, yet you insist on blaming him and even taking his honor and prize money to offset it—that’s shameless!”
Mr. Qin came down from the second floor and showed his strong dissatisfaction with Qin Jiang.
Anger could be seen from his furrowed brows and blazing eyes, as if ready to explode at any moment.
He intended to severely punish Qin Jiang.
After all, Qin Jiang had suffered family punishment many times since returning to the Qin household. He deserved to taste some hardship again today.
Seeing the person with authority over the household registration records had arrived, Qin Jiang sneered, “When it comes to shamelessness, you’re the winner here. You were the one who said that I have to greet you with a cry of “All hail the mighty head of the family”, after all.”
“Alright old man, stop putting on a show in front of me. My time is precious—I still have to go back and make tonic soup for my wife. Are you going to take responsibility if I were to return late?” Qin Jiang spoke impatiently.
He had completely lost patience with everyone in the Qin family.
He threw the separation agreement directly into Mr. Qin’s face, his gaze indifferent.
Mr. Qin had already been watching Qin Jiang’s behavior from the second floor.
In his view, now was a good time to sever ties with Qin Jiang.
The boy was a jinx, and now he’d also provoked that monster from the Yan family.
Perhaps the jinx and the monster counteracted each other just enough for Qin Jiang to get away alive.
But that bad luck must not descend upon the Qin family because of Qin Jiang any longer.
When Qin Jiang returned to the Qin family four years ago, his foster parents had all encountered troubles and disappeared, leaving him only a household registration book with just his name alone.
Mr. Qin thought transferring Qin Jiang’s registration back into the Qin household’s records was too unlucky, so he never did it.
Now that saved them the trouble of going down to the government office to process a registration transfer.
“Jiang, your father isn’t unreasonable. You can take your household registration book, but you must first return what belongs to Yun.”
“I heard from Chuchu that the prize money from the Huajing University tech competition has already been transferred to your account. Although $20,000 isn’t much to our Qin family, it belongs to your brother. You must give it back to him.”
Mr. Qin’s words were already clear enough.
Qin Jiang had previously only suspected his registration hadn’t been merged into the Qin household’s—now that suspicion was confirmed.
It didn’t matter either way. He didn’t care at all about being on the same household registration records as anyone in the Qin family.
Eldest Sister Qin Moyun looked at their father in disbelief.
“Dad, Qin Jiang’s name was never transferred back into the Qin family’s?”
“It’s already been four years—why was it never transferred? Did his foster parents disallow it, or is there some other reason we don’t know about?”
Qin Moyun couldn’t understand—no matter how much she disliked Qin Jiang, she had long accepted that he was her brother.
But the fact that their father never transferred Qin Jiang’s registration to theirs…
It plainly showed he had never considered Qin Jiang his son.
How could that not chill one’s heart?
“He, well, he’s nothing but a jinx! His foster parents were supposedly driven off by misfortune and didn’t want him—the fact that our family took him in and gave him food and a roof over his head is charity enough.”
Mr. Qin spoke flippantly, shedding the hypocritical mask he usually wore in front of Qin Jiang.
Qin Moyun, hearing her father’s words, was about to say something but stopped herself.
She restrained the doubts in her heart.
Qin Jiang was supposed to be the victim now, since he was effectively being driven out of the house. But the pitiable always had something hateful about them.
As far as Qin Moyun was concerned, she felt that after having lived at the bottom for over a decade, this boy had learned to lie and steal. And now he’d even learned to grab credit for others’ work.
He deserved to be taught a lesson.
Qin Jiang stood there with little expression. Only when they mentioned his foster parents did a flash of fierce emotion cross his eyes.
His foster parents would never have abandoned him.
It’s just that when his foster parents learned he was the long-lost son of a rich and powerful family in the capital, they couldn’t bear to have him continue living with them in poverty, so they deliberately disappeared to keep him from finding them…
He also had two elder sisters and a younger sister.
They had disappeared too!
Now that he had been reborn, he told himself that he was going to look for them.
He had seen through this supposedly biological family of his. It turned out that being biologically related was not actually better than being a foster child.
His foster family had poured out their hearts for him and loved him as their own son.
He was going to find them, care for his foster parents in their old age, and reunite with his sisters.
“I’ve already spent that $20,000.”
“That was my hard earned money and has nothing to do with you. And don’t you dare try to make me both hand over the cash and secretly accuse me of stealing Qin Yun’s honor. You’ve used that tactic too many times and have stolen too many honors and achievements that should have been mine. But from now on, I won’t serve you anymore!”
“Since you won’t give me my household registration book, don’t blame me for being ungracious.”
“Mo Da! Mo Er! Come out.”
Qin Jiang had long known Yan Liang would never let him leave so openly. There would certainly be bodyguards watching him.
Mo Da and Mo Er were the Yan family’s top bodyguards and Yan Liang’s confidants.
Mo Da and Mo Er, however, were puzzled.
They were among the best bodyguards in the world—how could Qin Jiang possibly have noticed them hiding around him?
Young Mistress only instructed them to monitor Qin Jiang. She didn’t tell them to be his muscle.
That would be at a different price!
So the two of them agreed: if the enemy didn’t make a move, they wouldn’t do anything either.
Qin Jiang knew he couldn’t get these two to do anything for him at the moment, so he lazily stretched and yawned.
“Oh man, serving Ms. Liang has made my back and waist ache—I’m even trembling when I walk…”
“If some people aren’t going to listen to me…maybe I’ll work hard tonight and try a little pillow talk?”
Alarm bells went off in Mo Da and Mo Er’s heads. This Qin fellow was bending the rules!
And so, the tall and imposing figures of Mo Da and Mo Er suddenly appeared in the Qin family living room.
Both wore the Yan family’s standard custom black suits for bodyguards and exuded lethal intent.
“Sir, any orders?”
Pleased with their obedience, Qin Jiang curled his lips into a smile.
“Smash this place! Leave nothing intact!”
