Chen Tianfu had a square, manly face and a full beard, so he looked like a bold man.
He sat upright in front of his favorite stall on the snack street, leisurely drinking beer, his face calm as he watched a fellow townsman run over to report.
“What’s wrong with Old Liu? The other party hadn’t done anything to offend him, yet he’s starting a fight with them?”
“Brother Liu’s archenemy from Wucheng is here. Apparently Brother Liu was driven out of Wucheng by him.”
Many people followed Chen Liu to Xiangnan, so his subordinates knew about all this.
Chen Tianfu sighed. He was already nearly fifty. Unlike Chen Liu, his youthful ambitions had been worn down by time—now he only sought money, not fights.
Chen Liu had done well under him. Since this was an old feud, and as the saying goes, underworld matters shoule be resolved within the underworld, there was nothing he could do about it.
“Tell Chen Liu that this time I’ll lend him men to settle it. Afterwards his share will be increased by ten percent.”
“Okay.” The man ran off.
Chen Liu walked up to Su Pingnan and said fiercely, “Two choices: first, I’ll break one of your arms and you kowtow and apologize.”
Su Pingnan raised an eyebrow and asked, “And the second?”
Chen Liu continued, “I asked around about you, and I heard you’ve struck it rich recently. Give me 200,000 yuan and I’ll let you go.”
Su Pingnan spat the cigarette from his mouth to the ground, sneering, “You’re an old hand in the underworld too—is this your first day on the job?”
Chen Liu’s face darkened. When he first spotted Su Pingnan, his anger swelled and he only wanted to kill this man he hated so much. Now that he had calmed down a little, he had to face a very serious problem.
That problem was…Su Pingnan was extremely, extremely good at fighting.
Su Pingnan saw his hesitation and made his move immediately.
Su Pingnan’s body moved like lightning, the iron skewer in his hand thrust straight toward Chen Liu’s neck.
If you’re going to strike, strike hard—that had been Su Pingnan’s consistent style up to now. Once he made the first move, Xiao Zhuang and the others immediately followed suit. The men behind Chen Liu hadn’t expected these people to actually strike first. They were shocked by their ferocity.
Chen Liu reacted quickly too and stepped back. With his left hand he threw the jacket that was over his left arm at Su Pingnan, then used his right hand to thrust his razor at Su Pingnan’s lower abdomen as he shouted, “Kill them!”
Su Pingnan stepped to the side, his left hand swinging hard to strike Chen Liu’s right ear. Chen Liu felt a buzzing in his head as if struck by an iron hammer and began to see stars.
Kick them when they’re down—Su Pingnan dropped into a nimble squat and dodged the swinging knife of one of his assailants. He rotated his wrist and stabbed the warm iron skewer in his hand forcefully into that man’s thigh. After that, he got up and continued running after Chen Liu.
The man who got stabbed let out a piercing scream. Xiao Zhuang, who was following closely behind Su Pingnan, had murderous intent concentrated in his eyes, and without hesitation thrust his skewer into the heavyset man’s neck.
The man was terrified. These people were lunatics intent on killing him. Ignoring the pain in his thigh, he rolled away from the battlefield.
Shouts, curses and screams filled the air, but the man didn’t charge back in—these people were crazy. They really intended to kill them.
Su Pingnan stayed close to Chen Liu, giving him no chance to use his blade. His left hand grabbed Chen Liu’s right hand that was holding the weapon, while his right hand wildly beat Chen Liu’s face. The violent side of him had been crazily aroused—Chen Liu’s face was beaten beyond recognition and bright red blood was spurting out. The whole man went limp.
This was the first time since his rebirth that Su Pingnan had unleashed full force. He was surprised to find his strength and reflexes had increased a lot. Chen Liu was a capable fighter—when he became famous at the Wucheng train station back then, he was certainly not so easy to deal with.
Now was not the time to think about these things. Su Pingnan’s gaze turned vicious as he grabbed Chen Liu’s right hand, straightened it, and drove his knee heavily into the man’s wrist.
Since things had already come to this point, then he ought to go all the way. Su Pingnan intended to cripple Chen Liu’s dominant hand!
A terrible cracking sound filled the air and Chen Liu’s pale bone protruded from his wrist. “AHH!” The already semi-conscious Chen Liu was jolted awake by pain.
“Tell your men to stop, or I’ll break all your hands and feet—you’re finished for life.”
Su Pingnan’s tone was icy as he slowly picked up Chen Liu’s other arm.
“Everyone stop!”
Chen Liu felt fear race through his entire body. He could see that Su Pingnan meant exactly what he said, so he started yelling at everyone to stop.
Xiao Zhuang and the others had all taken many blows too. They leaned against each other, panting. Chen Liu’s side was no better—there were six or seven men covered in blood and grime.
“Can we leave now?”
Su Pingnan coldly looked at Chen Liu lying on the ground, “One horizontal, one vertical, I’m the one still standing.”
Chen Liu was like a dead dog. He knew he’d completely failed this time and nodded with a pale face.
Su Pingnan looked at the other men as if silently asking them the same question.
A few men glanced at Chen Liu, then at Chen Tianfu in the crowd, and finally nodded.
With his rich experience, Su Pingnan immediately noticed Chen Tianfu and stared at him for several minutes. Chen Tianfu remained expressionless. Su Pingnan nodded at him, then led his people away without looking back.
“Third uncle, you don’t need to come. Those outsiders are upstarts, and the Sihairen members have backed down.”
A short-haired woman in green, her figure not at all inferior to Li Luoran’s, put down the phone and watched Su Pingnan’s departing back with a thoughtful look.
A breeze blew, and the police badge at the woman’s waist shone brightly.
