“It’s delicious… Oh no no no? My, my head hurts… What! Ouch ouch!”
Sereina got up from the bed and started yelling while thrashing around.
“You, you! Are you trying to poison me like this? That’s dirty!”
“Why would I poison you? You got a headache because you’re eating like a madwoman instead of eating slowly. Geez.”
“Never mind.”
Sereina shrugged her shoulders as if she felt better, treated Elena as a traitor, and me as an assassin, then went back to her ice cream.
Seeing her like that, I thought she deserved the headache and it was actually amusing. The unrepentant dragon, however, ate more ice cream and held her head again.
She repeated this endlessly and then went back under the blanket.
“Whew. That was a painful food. It tastes good, though.”
“If you eat slowly, it’s not painful.”
“I don’t care. I’m going back to sleep.”
She looked like she might get an upset stomach. I shook my head and left the clinic.
I returned to the restaurant, put the ice cream in the freezer, and started preparing for lunch service.
Rurin usually wakes up around the time I finish lunch service.
Due to the geographical characteristics, lunch service is not as busy as dinner.
After finishing the business quickly, I took the ice cream tub and went down to the lair. By now, it should be time for Rurin to wake up.
I thought about how to wake her up and decided to bring the ice cream tub upstairs.
Suddenly, I remembered Sereina frantically eating ice cream and then causing a ruckus because of the headache.
I let out a small laugh. Somehow, I feel like our Rurin would do the same thing. Rurin is even worse when devouring delicious food than Sereina. Of course, I would stop her, but I can already picture her not listening.
“Rurin! Wake up.”
I place the ice cream tub on her forehead. Sereina had the ice cream scooped onto her, but I showed mercy to Rurin.
“Mmm? It’s cold. What did you put on me? You.”
She opened her eyes drowsily, showing a very low-energy response. The cartoonish reaction of jumping up from the cold didn’t happen.
“Just ice cream?”
“Ice cream?”
Rurin raised her upper body. The ice cream tub that was on her fell off.
“Why is this so cold?”
“Here, here, have some to wake up.”
I opened the ice cream tub. The pure white ice cream was revealed.
Rurin’s reaction was similar to Sereina’s and Elena’s. She had a face that seemed to ask what kind of snow this was.
“It’s cold and white. Is it snow? Only the Lurun eat snow.”
“What? You’ve eaten snow?”
“It was tasteless.”
Rurin stuck out her tongue with a ‘bleh’ expression. But this is not snow.
But it sure seems like the Lurun would like it.
“Then let’s give it to the Lurun.”
I immediately took the ice cream tub and called the Lurun.
“Ruru-rurun-rurun?”
The mother Lurun came running like an arrow at my call.
“You called? It says.”
Rurin rubbed her sleepy eyes and turned translator. Even without the translation, you could tell by the atmosphere.
“Try this.”
I scooped the ice cream into a bowl and handed it over. The Lurun tilted its white face. It looked perfect with the milk ice cream.
“Eat that, Run!”
Rurin translated my words into her ridiculous tone she used when dealing with the Lurun.
The Lurun nodded and put the ice cream in its mouth.
“Ruru-ruru-ruru-ruri-ruri-ruru-ruru-rung-rung-rurun!”
Then it started to get very excited.
“You!”
“Yes?”
“It thought it was snow, but now it’s going crazy saying it’s insanely delicious. Isn’t that snow?”
“It’s not snow. Who said it was snow? This is very sweet…”
“Raaaawr!”
Rurin jumped and snatched the entire ice cream tub from me.
“You should have said that first, Run!”
“I’m not a Lurun. I’m a dragon.”
“Here. Spoon.”
Rurin took the spoon, scooped the ice cream, and put it in her mouth.
The Lurun also found it delicious and ate all the ice cream I gave it, then looked at me with a very desperate face.
What a surprise for creatures that only eat truffles. Maybe they like it because it looks similar.
“Oh oh oh! It’s sweet. It’s refreshing. It’s cold. It’s delicious!”
Rurin exclaimed in admiration again. Then, as expected, she started devouring the ice cream like crazy. Her speed was even faster than Sereina’s.
“Hey, if you eat like that, you’ll get a headache. Slow down a bit…”
But she didn’t stop despite my warning. This was also expected.
The ice cream tub was soon empty.
“Ruru-ruru-ruru-rurun…”
The Lurun cried out with a sad face.
“I’ll get more from upstairs.”
I encouraged the Lurun. Rurin emptied the ice cream tub in an instant. But the surprising thing is that, unlike Sereina, she was perfectly fine. She showed no signs of a headache. It was completely different from Sereina, who struggled in pain while battling the ice cream.
“It was delicious. My stomach is cold. Thanks to you, I’m awake now.”
“Don’t you have a headache or anything… Doesn’t your head hurt?”
Eating at that speed should inevitably cause it.
When I asked, Rurin shook her head firmly.
“Why would my head hurt from eating something delicious? You’re the strange one.”
“Is that so?”
What an amazing head.
Sereina.
You really can’t compare to Rurin.
I shook my head, thinking that Sereina would have vehemently denied it if she heard that.
The next afternoon.
El left for the Lord’s castle with the ice cream tub. He sent a message that he would go directly since Greek had something to discuss.
El tried to wake Rurin, but she didn’t get up, so he headed to the Lord’s castle alone. When Rurin woke up, she rubbed her belly and got up.
“I don’t care, I’m sleepy. Go and come back. Mnyah.”
Rurin was angry that El was gone and was about to go straight to the Lord’s castle but suddenly remembered what she had said.
Rurin pondered seriously for a moment why she had said such a thing. But she soon shrugged it off coolly.
Rurin decided to eat first since she was hungry. She soon went up to the restaurant. Rurin could feel El’s mana very well. Knowing he was nearby, she showed her grown-up side by not causing a fuss and looked for food.
She didn’t need to look, as food was already set up in the kitchen. It was her meal.
“I’m hungry. What’s for lunch today?”
She talked to herself and lifted the cloth covering the food.
“Oh.”
It was a meat dish that Rurin liked. Thinking it was great, Rurin took out the beer she was usually forbidden to drink during the day.
“Hehe, it’s your fault for not being here. I’m drinking beer!”
Muttering unnecessary words to herself again, Rurin opened the beer and tried to grab the meat. But in her greed to eat both at once, the beer foam rose, making her slip and drop the beer can.
Trying to catch it, she knocked over the dish with the food.
As a result, the dish fell straight to the floor. The meat dish fell to the ground.
Even the beer mixed with the meat.
Rurin panicked and stared blankly at the situation.
“What is this.”
A brief state of panic.
“……”
Rurin was at a loss for words. She swung the fork she was holding in the air.
She was hungry. But if she ran and yelled for food after knocking over the dish, she would surely be scolded.
Rurin clicked her tongue and looked around.
Normally, she would never think of cooking. But there happened to be very delicious-looking top-quality uka meat in the kitchen.
“Oh, isn’t this something that can be just grilled and eaten?”
Having lost bets and been forced to cook several times, Rurin, who could use the kitchen utensils to some extent, confidently started heating the grill with a fireball.
Grrr.
Grrrrr.
Her stomach kept growling.
Sizzle!
Then the meat went on the grill.
A delicious smell spread, and a smile appeared on Rurin’s face.
“Where’s the sauce? There it is.”
She brought the sauce prepared for her meat dish and plated the grilled uka meat. It was perfect.
It’s not that she didn’t have talent for cooking; even El acknowledged it.
Rurin soon started chewing the grilled uka meat. It was delicious.
Greek was quite worried about Dedran City. We talked for a long time on the day the restaurant was robbed, and today he wanted to see me about it again.
After hearing the detailed report, it did seem serious.
To be honest, I can’t say that Dedran City and I are unrelated. But when Count Dedran was around, the city didn’t go crazy like this.
It was difficult to live then, but it wasn’t a complete hell like now.
So, I can’t say I’m completely blameless.
It’s true that I burned down the Lord’s castle in Dedran City and facilitated many things from behind the scenes.
Of course, I did it to help Greek and Berna, so it’s not something to be criticized for withdrawing from.
Still, I need to handle it to some extent so that Greek can manage. Right now, no one but me can handle it.
If that’s the responsibility for getting involved in Greek and Berna’s story, well, it can’t be helped.
I was thinking of visiting Dedran City in person tomorrow. First, I need to see how crazy it is and then eliminate the cause. If I can’t find the cause, I’ll have to clean up the entire city.
Thinking about that, I returned to the restaurant, and the smell of meat was everywhere. It seemed Rurin was grilling meat.
I had already made a meat dish, so why is she grilling more meat?
“Rurin, what are you doing?”
“You! Why are you so late! I was hungry, so I’m grilling meat.”
“You’re doing it yourself? This is like saying the sun rises in the west… What got into you?”
“I couldn’t help it. I was hungry, and there was something delicious, so I couldn’t resist and put it on the grill. Hehe.”
“Oh really? Let me see.”
I was very curious, so I picked up and ate the meat Rurin grilled.
I had nothing much to say. It was just well grilled.
“Ha, that was good. I’m full now. Since you weren’t here, I did the work myself, so you clean up the rest!”
“Huh? No, wait a minute?”
“What?”
Rurin tilted her head. Her black hair swayed. No, I shouldn’t be swayed by that.
“What kind of meat did you grill? It tastes familiar…”
“The meat in the kitchen.”
“What?”
The place she pointed to was the meat I had specially prepared for the guest reserved for dinner.
“Uh, Dragon? That was meat specially prepared for the guest reserved for dinner… Wait, what…?”
Rurin was already gone. The dragon that was in front of me was nowhere to be seen. She didn’t run away. This was teleportation. She used teleportation to escape.
Thanks to Rurin’s quick escape, my nagging echoed in the air.
Escaping with teleportation? What kind of cheating is this?
I shook my head and entered the kitchen. The floor was wet. The smell of beer wafted up.
Moreover, the meat dish I had made was on the floor.
“Rurin!”
It’s obvious where she ran off to. Where else could she go? She must have gone to the lair. I wanted to go and nag her right away.
First, I need to catch her and make her clean up herself.
