Rurin didn’t know what to do and just looked at El.
After a long time, she finally came to her senses and carefully checked his pulse.
By then, Rurin’s face was already twisted with worry.
Fortunately, El was definitely alive. He wasn’t dead!
That fact allowed Rurin to calm down a bit.
If there had been a human in the restaurant, they would have died instantly from the aura of the Dragon Fear.
Regardless, Rurin picked El up and carried him to the second floor.
“You, you, you?”
She laid him down and called him several times, but there was no response. The only thing that kept her from going berserk was that his breathing was still regular.
How could she wake him up? Rurin thought for a long time but came up with no answers. The more she thought, the more anxious she became, biting her lips hard.
Her luscious pink lips split, and blood began to flow.
Her clenched fists continued to tremble. She stomped her feet and just stared at El for a long time.
The one who always brought her peace was just lying there.
She hated this.
Hate it. Hate it. Hate it. Hate it. Hate it.
Rurin’s eyes filled with tears.
At that moment, a loud noise was heard from outside the restaurant.
Rurin immediately went downstairs and kicked the back door open. There were two humans there. As soon as they saw Rurin, they prostrated themselves.
She hated humans.
She hated dragons too.
She hated all living beings.
The world that tormented her.
The world that took her mother away.
Such a world.
But Rurin grit her teeth. She couldn’t kill humans recklessly. It was something he always emphasized.
If El truly got angry, Rurin would be very sad.
So she desperately suppressed her anger. At least the two had immediately prostrated themselves.
If they had acted arrogantly, the situation could have been different.
Rurin’s mind was that unstable.
After dealing with the noisy humans, Rurin went back upstairs, but El still showed no signs of waking up.
“You…”
Then Rurin remembered the dish El had told her to make. He might wake up if she made it. With that thought, she hurriedly went downstairs again, put the whole Palenque in a pot, and started boiling it with green onions.
Rurin cooked exactly as El had instructed and knelt in front of the bed with the boiled chicken soup. But then she was troubled. She didn’t know how to feed it to him.
Even if she tried to wake him, he didn’t get up.
At that moment, she remembered a story El’s colleague had told her.
With that thought, Rurin immediately took a mouthful of chicken soup.
“Tasteless…”
It’s tasteless. Truly tasteless. It has no flavor at all. Rurin evaluated her own cooking that way. But since El had said this dish would give strength, Rurin decided to feed it to him even if it was tasteless. A bit of soup dribbled from her mouth as she mumbled.
In that state, Rurin opened El’s mouth and let the chicken soup flow in.
Her heart started pounding wildly from the act. Her face heated up, and her ears turned red.
“You… I feel strange. So wake up!”
But contrary to her expectations, there was no response. Rurin clenched her hands tightly. Her wildly beating heart and heated emotions quickly subsided.
The fear that El wouldn’t wake up overcame the rosy flutter in her heart.
Feeling scared, Rurin just held El’s hand tightly and watched over him. She yawned but didn’t sleep.
She was anxious that if she slept and woke up, El would be gone.
The Dragon Heart has the power to revive all things. But El had already consumed a Dragon Heart.
If he ate another Dragon Heart, his body wouldn’t be able to handle it. That was certain.
Rurin remembered joking once that she would feed him her heart if she ever self-destructed.
But despite that, Rurin was ready to feed him her heart without hesitation if El ever stopped breathing.
Even if it meant she would die.
Even if it meant they couldn’t be together.
A world where she was left alone held no meaning for Rurin anyway.
It was just endless darkness.
“You…? Don’t worry. You also got stronger mana from the orb, so you might be able to endure by eating my heart. I won’t let you die!”
Rurin stayed like that for a long time until evening, when she finally thought of the existence of doctors. Doctors heal sick humans. And elves are surely deeply connected to healing magic.
Rurin blamed herself for realizing that fact only now.
“You, you, you! Where is that elf?”
She asked El, but there was no way he would answer.
So she couldn’t use teleportation. She decided she had no choice but to go and fetch the elf herself.
Rurin ran down the hill.
It was definitely the first time she had come down to the city alone without El.
When she was with El, the scenery naturally came into view, but to the current Rurin, it was just darkness. Darkness everywhere.
She couldn’t see anything. Only the fact that there was an elf nearby spurred her on.
All she needed was the elf.
She needed the elf.
“What the hell is this woman?”
As she walked down the city, raising her sense of smell to find the elf, Rurin bumped into a group of thugs walking down the street.
“You!”
Mate, who was being dragged along by the thugs, recognized Rurin and shouted. The woman from the restaurant they met at lunchtime. Rurin also recognized Mate.
“Where is the elf?”
“Elf? If you mean the one who did the interview, I heard from Senior Miltain that she runs a clinic over there…”
“Shut up, you bastard!”
Thud!
One of the thugs kicked Mate in the stomach for talking without permission. Rurin watched Mate without any particular emotion.
“Where is ‘over there’!”
“Run away! These guys are very bad people!”
“Bad people? It doesn’t matter! Where is ‘over there’!”
“What do you mean it doesn’t… Ugh, who is this woman?”
The thugs all looked at Rurin, but they felt an overwhelming sense of intimidation and had to step back instead of mocking her. However, Rurin took in the sight of the thugs in an instant.
“Hmm, I told El I wouldn’t kill humans without permission. But you guys are noisy!”
As Rurin glared at them, the thugs were overwhelmed by her power and fell to the ground, trembling all over.
This was the power of a dragon. A being that could kill humans with just a glance.
Moreover, Rurin’s mana had been greatly enhanced recently by the influence of the dragon orb, to the point where she could destroy the human world by herself.
“Wh-what is this…?”
“I hate noise. I hate humans. So tell me. Where is ‘over there’!”
“Over there. Over there!”
Rurin nodded and started running in the direction Mate pointed. She was even barefoot. Her soles were completely covered in dirt, but Rurin didn’t even realize it.
Mate, not understanding the situation, got up and looked at Rurin’s retreating figure.
“Hey?”
Mate, unexpectedly freed, looked at the fallen thugs, but it was strange to see them trembling and foaming at the mouth.
They were definitely alive, though.
When I opened my eyes, I realized I was on the bed on the second floor, not the restaurant on the first floor. I don’t know how much time has passed.
Rurin was dozing off while holding my hand. She wasn’t lying on the bed but sitting on the floor, holding my hand and nodding off.
Next to me was the chicken soup she presumably made. I tasted it. It had no seasoning, just as I had instructed.
Chicken soup only needs a bit of salt to taste good. But Rurin was holding my left hand so tightly that I couldn’t even go get the salt.
Still, for the first dish a dragon made, it wasn’t a failure. It definitely wasn’t seasoned, but honestly, I was grateful.
I was grateful, so it tasted good.
Though the cook herself was dozing off.
“Mmm? You…”
“Are you awake?”
“You!”
Rurin suddenly opened her eyes wide, climbed onto the bed, and hugged me. Her face was very bright.
“When did you wake up! You! How much! How much!”
“Yes, I woke up. Calm down, I didn’t die.”
“You, you, you, you, you, you, you!”
Rurin, very happy for some reason, hugged me and kept calling out to me. Even so, my cold hadn’t completely gone away.
So I tried to push her away out of concern.
But Rurin resisted firmly.
“Rurin, it’s contagious?”
“I don’t care. If you’re sick, I’m sick too. I’ll be just as sick. It’s unfair if only you’re sick. We’re one body.”
“One body, sigh. Anyway, if you catch it, it’ll be hard for you. Sleep in your room today.”
“No! Purrr!”
“Even if you make sleeping sounds with your mouth, I know you’re not sleeping.”
“I don’t care. I actually want to catch it, so I won’t leave. I cooked for you for the first time. It had no taste. But isn’t it better than before?”
“So I’m going to eat it all.”
“Really! Somehow it feels strange that you’re eating my cooking. Is this how you always feel?”
Rurin said that and closed her eyes. It was impossible to separate her from me.
“Anyway, your sickness is mine too. So don’t be sick! And the elf came and said you’d be better by tomorrow. I threatened to wipe out the elf clan if it was a lie, so it must be true!”
Rurin barely raised her upper body, hugged my waist as I ate the chicken soup, and fidgeted.
It’s ridiculous. The elf clan almost got destroyed because of me?
But for some reason, I didn’t feel like scolding her.
I stroked Rurin’s head with one hand. I just felt like it.
She was so endearing that I felt like I couldn’t resist stroking her.
“Come to think of it, your birthday isn’t far off.”
My mind was unknowingly sealed, waiting for Rurin’s birthday. The bondage of my heart was until Rurin’s birthday…
I don’t know what will happen to me once I break free from that bondage.
“Birthday?”
“No, I just mean your birthday is soon.”
“You’re strange!”
Rurin’s birthday is in spring. Autumn is almost over. It’s the beginning of winter. Not long left.
Anyway, after eating the nutritious chicken soup, I felt a bit better and lay back down.
I needed to sleep now.
Soon, Rurin’s purring sound and my breathing intertwined in the bedroom.
And when I woke up, it was morning.
The morning sunlight streamed through the window. Rurin, unusually awake, mumbled with a red face in my arms.
“You… I feel strange… It feels like the ceiling is spinning.”
“What?”
I was startled and touched Rurin’s forehead. It was burning hot. Yesterday, I joked about it being contagious, but I didn’t actually worry about it.
