“For a Hero party, you can’t even buy a single potion, huh? I heard the Royal Palace backs you, but are you really no different from common thugs?”
I stepped between and caught the punch swinging down at Emily.
Before, I would have been blown away, but after leveling up and becoming Undead, the blow felt surprisingly light.
“What the… Who the hell are you? You’re from the Shikai Tribe, ain’t ya? Slaves don’t get to mouth off at me, you punk!”
“Are your eyes working properly? Who are you calling a slave?”
It seemed none of these guys had recognized that I was Sid Ranorus.
Even though my appearance had changed quite a bit, it was a little ridiculous that not a single person doubted me.
“What’s with that annoying way of talking already!? Don’t get cocky!!”
‘What is this puppet—an irritating fellow.’
Garen raised his fist again—but Ekarraat, hidden in the shadows, sent murderous intent toward Garen!
“Oi!?!?”
Garen was startled and awkwardly fell onto his butt.
From the outside, it probably looked like he was intimidated by my glare and fell back.
A few “tsk tsk” noises leaked from the surrounding adventurers.
‘How amusing—though “Oi!?” is a pathetic little exclamation to collapse with.’
“D-damn… for a Shikai Tribe scum to—how dare you embarrass me like that!!!”
Even though they were inside the guild, Garen tried to pull out the greatsword on his back.
But before Garen could fully draw his sword, one of the adventurers who’d witnessed the scene stopped him.
“I was watching quietly, but drawing a blade is going too far. If that’s how it is, I’ll handle this.”
The one who intervened between Garen and me was an adventurer over two meters tall, clad in full ebony-colored plate armor from head to toe.
“An S-rank adventurer—Almugard.”
“Oh? You know of me? My name’s become quite known, hasn’t it.”
Almugard Eldorado.
He was the only living S-Rank Adventurer.
He soloed without joining any party, climbed to an S-Rank level even the Hero party led by Sylvan hadn’t reached—a literal—strongest human.
Because he was always armed in full plate, it was said no one knew what—or who—he really was.
“Tch! I feel sick! I’m outta here!”
The hot-headed Garen didn’t have the guts to pick a fight with the strongest human and fled from the guild.
The strongest human, huh—what do his stats look like?
Yeah… I don’t stand a chance against him right now.
So Levels can go over 100.
I learned that for the first time.
“Thanks, that helped.”
“Don’t worry about it. I just wanted to drink in peace, so I acted on my own. I know you didn’t throw a hand.”
With that, Almugard returned to his seat in the tavern and began drinking while still wearing his armor.
I wondered if he could even drink properly like that.
“Sid… no, Mr. Sid Ranorus, thank you! Hehe, I mistook you for Sid since you have the same name.”
Emily bowed deeply.
“Don’t worry about it. He was the one who actually settled things.”
I pointed at Almugard with my thumb.
“However, when Garen tried to hit me, the first to protect me was Mr. Sid Ranorus.”
Her cheeks were red and her shoulders were trembling.
She might still be shaken from the fear.
To raise a hand against a woman who isn’t even an adventurer—what a real bastard…
“Mr. Sid, the appraisal of the Magic Stones is finished. The total is six million G.”
Six million G—that’s about three years’ earnings for a typical adventurer.
“In particular, this exceptionally large Magic Stone is being bought for five million. I’ve been in this job a long time, but I’ve never seen a Stone this big!”
“Ah—this looks like a Minotaur’s Magic Stone.”
“A Minotaur’s!? The one Sylvan and the others couldn’t handle and ran from earlier!?”
“That’s right.”
“I-it’s amazing…!”
Emily looked at me with admiration.
In truth, it was Ekarraat, who was laughing merrily in the shadows, who slew the Minotaur.
“You—did you say Sid? You’re quite skilled. How about joining my party? I’ve been looking for a new pack carrier.”
Sylvan, the Hero who’d watched the whole thing, spoke to me.
“But don’t get the wrong idea. About that Minotaur’s Magic Stone—it’s probably from the monster we fought. We drove it to the brink, so it would’ve been pretty weakened. Don’t forget that it was essentially us who defeated the Minotaur.”
What a lie—he did no damage at all.
If anything, I was the one who dealt damage by putting out one of its eyes.
“Sorry, but I have no intention of teaming up with you. Especially someone who’d use the Shikai Tribe as bait.”
“Watch how you speak. I’m the Second Prince of this country. If I wanted to, I could very well make you a slave.”
“Then stop being an adventurer and act like royalty by studying in the castle—p-r-i-n-c-e.”
“…Hmph, as expected, conversation with an uneducated commoner won’t do. Let’s both pretend the earlier exchange never happened.”
Sylvan also left the guild, and Mage Lilium followed, calling out, “Oh! Wait~ ❤”
As for the remaining Assassin Ruru, she went to the tavern and ordered an ale.
She was refreshingly at her own pace.
After the little scuffle, I accepted the gold from Emily and left the Adventurer’s Guild.
