I, Seyi Falt, was traveling freely.
My stock of magic potions had run low, so I decided to visit my master’s workshop.
However, this workshop—the Sage’s Tower—was apparently called the Demon Tower in the world.
Many things had changed during the 500 years I had been asleep.
“Alright, we’ve arrived.”
In the wasteland stood a tower soaring toward the heavens.
The slave girls looked up and admired it.
“…This is your master’s workshop, Lady Seyi?”
“Yep. He likes high places, so he built a needlessly tall workshop.”
There’s a fine line between genius and fool.
And fools love high places.
Well, basically, that’s the idea (?).
“Climbing such a tall tower seems troublesome.”
“Indeed~… wah!”
Daphne-chan the rabbit girl almost fell backward from looking up too much.
I caught her from behind, and she rubbed against me playfully. Cute.
“No worries, there’s a portal inside.”
“Hmm? What is a portal, my lord?”
“A device that teleports you to a specific place. Only my master and his disciples can activate it.”
We entered the tower.
Zenith tilted her head.
“…Disciples, plural. Does that mean you have fellow disciples besides yourself?”
“Yep. Master is a genius in many fields besides alchemy. He has many students.”
“…I see, fellow apprentices.”
I wonder how everyone’s doing?
It’s been 500 years, so maybe they’re dead. Probably.
But some were demi-humans, so maybe someone survived. If so, visiting them might be nice.
“So this is inside the tower.”
“Wow! It’s soooo tall!”
The interior was a cylindrical hall stretching upward.
A spiral staircase was installed, forcing intruders to climb.
“…Do we have to climb all the way up?”
“It’s fine, the portal is here.”
A magic circle was drawn on the central floor.
A phoenix and ash—the symbols of life and death.
“…Lady Seyi. What is this?”
“My master Nicholas Flamel’s signature. This is the portal. If he or a disciple stands on it and pours in mana, you instantly teleport upward.”
We stood on the magic circle and placed our hands on the floor.
I poured in mana—at that moment.
BOOM! Something massive fell from above.
“Waaah! A giant!”
…A massive iron golem had dropped from the top of the tower.
I knew it. This was the anti-theft guardian golem my master created.
“…The portal’s broken!!!”
Sure, after 500 years systems might malfunction due to aging, but still!
No one maintained it!?
Not master nor the disciples!?
Seriously, what are they doing!?
“My lord! Everyone step back! I will handle this!”
The guardian raised its arm and swung down at Toka.
“Haaah!”
Toka firmly gripped her spear and blocked the blow with the shaft.
A shockwave burst out. She braced and tried to endure—
“Guh—gwaaaaah!”
She was blown away, but spun midair and landed atop the golem’s arm.
“Toka-chan, drink this.”
I tossed her a potion.
She caught it and drank it without hesitation, running lightly along the arm.
She leapt and struck the golem’s face.
“Dragon Fang Thrust!”
Her spear blast blew away the golem’s upper body.
The shockwave pierced the tower wall before fading.
“Nice, Toka-chan.”
“Y-yes… my lord… what was that?”
“Huh? Just a Body Enhancement Potion.”
It activates body cells and grants temporary superhuman ability.
It’s one of the advanced Numbers potions, so I had no spare.
But since we reached the workshop, I figured I could use the last one.
“Amazing! Toka-chan is amazing!”
Daphne raised her hands and hugged Toka.
Toka shook her head.
“It was thanks to my lord! My strength alone could not pierce that hard golem!”
“So amazing! Big sister!”
This time Daphne hugged me. Cute.
I lifted her and spun around. She happily squealed. No particular reason!
Meanwhile Zenith stared at the shattered golem fragments.
“…Lady Seyi… is this material Orichalcum?”
“Yes, why?”
“…Unbelievable.”
Toka tilted her head.
“Zenith, what is orichalcum?”
“The hardest mineral in the world. Humans can’t normally break it, and processing it is extremely difficult.”
“Oh really? Master had me make it.”
Zenith was stunned.
“Did I do something?”
“…Once again I’m amazed by you. Not only potion technology, but magic tool crafting as well.”
“Amazing! Big sister is amazing!”
