I, Seyi Falt, had tried to leave the Elf Nation (Anemosgive), but I was unable to board a ship due to heavy rain.

It was said to be the doing of water spirits, so I went to punish—ahem, persuade them, only to discover the spirits were suffering from an illness.

After negotiations, we decided they would stop the rain in exchange for me curing their sickness.

I created a specific remedy from the blood of a water spirit-chan.

After that, we rode the dragon carriage and followed behind water spirit-chan toward their village.

“Gwagwagwa, gaa!”

Chi-chan the earth dragon pulling the wagon spoke on behalf of water spirit-chan.

Daphne-chan translated it.

“The entrance to the Spirit Village is hidden by a special charm. This is that entrance!”

We arrived at the base of a large great tree.

It looked like nothing more than an ordinary tree.

“I shall go ahead and scout the situation!”

“No, I can’t let precious Toka-chan go somewhere dangerous.”

“Master…!”

“So, go, robo-maid.”

Cherge sighed.

“You are saying it is acceptable if I die? End of statement.”

“You’re a golem, you won’t die. It’s fine, I’ll fix you if you break.”

“It cannot be helped. End of statement.”

When Cherge placed her hand on the tree root, she sank straight inside.

She peeked her face out.

“It seems even non-spirits can pass. Alright, let’s go!”

“““Yeah!”””

Including Chi-chan, the dragon carriage passed through the root gate.

After a brief dizziness, a separate space spread out before us.

It looked like a forest, but lakes were scattered everywhere.

However the water was murky, clearly unsanitary.

Water spirits lived in a place this dirty…?

“It stinks…”

“…An unbearable stench.”

Even I felt like grimacing from the smell.

It was the kind that made your eyes hurt.

“This is different from miasma-caused water pollution.”

“Um… apparently it’s because of a Corpse Dragon.”

“A Corpse Dragon…?”

What was that?

Knowledgeable elf Zenith spoke.

“It is a type of monster. If a dragon is defeated and its corpse abandoned, very rarely the body rises and wanders. That is a Corpse Dragon.”

“Huh… dragons are treasure troves of materials. Why leave the body?”

Dragon scales become armor, claws and bones become weapons.

Fangs can even be used as alchemy tools.

Everything can be used.

“Recently, a dragon called a Diamond Dragon was heavily hunted by humans.”

“The Diamond Dragon is a rare dragon whose outer skin is made of diamond.”

“Ah, I see. They stripped only the hide and abandoned the rest, and it became a zombie.”

I was starting to understand why the water spirits were angry.

“Water spirit-chan, are you angry because humans abandoned dragon corpses?”

“That is correct. Because of their selfish actions, we suffer from illness.”

Well, no wonder they’re mad.

“Got it. Take me to your companions first. I’ll cure the illness, then deal with the source of infection.”

After deciding the plan, I headed toward the other water spirits.

After passing several lakes, we arrived before a waterfall.

When water spirit-chan chanted a spell, the waterfall split and a cave entrance appeared inside.

“Our companions sleep inside.”

According to her, they normally lived in lakes.

But due to contamination from the Corpse Dragon, they now lived in the cave behind this waterfall.

“Oh, the smell is weaker inside.”

“Analysis of atmospheric odor concentration suggests the waterfall curtain blocks outside stench. End of statement.”

If the robo-maid was right, this was their last fortress.

Looking around, many spirits looked sick.

Everyone was exhausted.

“How pitiful…”

Highly empathetic Daphne-chan looked distressed.

As for me… I wasn’t really related. I just came to stop the rain.

Soon we reached the back of the tunnel, where a clothed spirit stood.

Welcome, child of man.

“Oh, the voice is directly in my head… are you the boss here?”

Correct. I am the Great Spirit Undine, queen of the water folk.

She looked like a normal lady with long blue hair.

However she held a trident and kept her eyes closed.

“I’m Seyi Falt, a traveling alchemist. Water spirit-chan asked for help, so I came to treat you.”

We thank you, child of man.

“Yeah yeah, skip that. Once you’re cured, stop the rain. Cherge.”

I took out a large pile of syringes from storage.

What are those?

“My special medicine. Inject this and you’ll recover instantly. I used it on water spirit-chan too.”

The guiding water spirit nodded repeatedly.

…So Sui trusts this one’s power.

“Sui?”

She is my daughter.

So water spirit-chan, Sui-chan, was the daughter of the Great Spirit… a princess?

Huh (uninterested).

“Wow! Your name is Sui-chan? I’m Daphne!”

Daphne-chan held Sui-chan’s hand and smiled brightly.

Sui-chan smiled back. It was healing to watch.

They had gotten along well in the carriage too.

Maybe they were compatible.

I will trust the skill that healed Sui.

“Alright. Give me your arm. You’re first.”

Undine nodded and extended her arm.

The robo-maid located the vein, and I gave a quick injection.

Oh! Vitality fills my body…! Wonderful medicine, child of man.

“Glad to hear it. Slave-chans, listen—split up and give injections.”

“““Yes!”””

The slave-chans, robo-maid, and Sui-chan distributed the medicine to all spirits present.

The effect appeared immediately and everyone recovered.

“Sui-chan’s friends are all better! Thank you, big sister!”

Daphne-chan and Sui-chan clung to my waist.

We truly thank you for your efforts for our people, child of man.

Yeah yeah… I didn’t do it for spirits though.

“Then as promised, the rain outside—”

Right then it happened.

A loud explosion echoed from outside.

“Huh, what?”

“Master. Enemy detected. The radar was blocked by the waterfall. End of statement.”

A sharp odor hit my nose.

With heavy footsteps, it appeared.

“Ah… this must be the Corpse Dragon.”

Good grief, one problem after another.
