I, Seyi Falt, saved a poisoned adventurer at the Adventurers Guild.
“Ahh… that was troublesome.”
Right now, I was leaving the town of Sanjo on foot.
The slave girls walked along behind me in a line.
“Big sis, big sis!”
“Hm? What is it, Daphne-chan?”
The Rabi tribe girl Daphne-chan asked me.
“Was that really okay? Those people earlier said they wanted to thank you.”
…Well then.
Through an acquaintance adventurer, I was asked to detoxify someone.
An adventurer on the verge of death after being poisoned by a monster called a Hydra—something I’d never heard of—was treated by me.
‘A-Amazing!’ ‘Detoxifying death poison instantly!’ ‘Incredible, I’ve never seen detoxification like this!’ ‘A saint! It’s a saint!’
…and so the guild became a huge commotion.
Then came the troublesome matters of who I was and invitations to come with them.
“That and various other things were annoying. It was a waste, but I used a [Teleportation Potion].”
The Teleportation Potion was one of the secret potions I brought from home.
“…Seyi-sama, amazing. That was teleportation magic, right? You moved instantly from inside the town to outside.”
Zenith-chan, the intelligent elf, asked me.
“Nope, it’s a potion.”
“…No, um, in what world is there a potion that activates teleportation magic?”
“Eh, right here.”
“…………”
“But what a waste. I used a [Numbers].”
“…Numbers?”
Zenith-chan was quite intellectually curious.
“My trump card, I guess.”
“…A trump card?”
“Simply put, very high-effect potions. Unlike healing or antidote potions, they aren’t easy to make. Each [Numbers] potion I brought from home is only one bottle. I won’t be able to use teleportation for a while.”
I wanted to continue traveling, but making Numbers potions required a large workshop and time.
Now what to do. Well, I’ll figure it out eventually.
“…Numbers refers to potions imbued with magical effects, correct?”
“Oh, something like that. As expected of Zenith-chan, smart.”
I gently patted Zenith-chan’s blue hair.
It was glossy and felt like silk—so pleasant to touch…
“…………”
“Ah, unfair unfair! Daphne also wants big sis to pat her head!”
Daphne-chan pressed against me like a kitten and rubbed her head insistently.
Cute like a kitten.
“Anyway, avoiding trouble is best. I want to travel freely. Is that fine as our travel policy?”
Toka-chan, walking at the front, nodded.
“We are your slaves, my lord. We will follow your decisions!”
“I see, that’s good. Though… I barely did any shopping. We should procure a carriage and food. Especially food.”
Zenith-chan thought a bit before speaking.
“…The nearest town from here is called Mitsuke if we head south. However, on foot it will likely take a day.”
“Hmm, going a whole day without food or drink would be rough… Let’s gather food somewhere.”
Then! Toka-chan raised her hand.
“Camping, then! I excel at hunting!”
“Oh, as expected of our strength specialist. I’m counting on you. Then let’s find prey right away—”
At that moment.
Daphne-chan’s rabbit ears perked up.
“U-Um! Big sis!”
“Hm? What is it, Daphne-chan?”
“I hear an animal’s voice! From that forest over there!”
Daphne-chan pointed sharply toward the southern forest.
Ohh, as expected of sharp-eared Daphne-chan. Not just talking to animals—she had senses like this too.
“Alright, it’s my turn!”
“But Toka-chan, you don’t have a weapon. Is that okay?”
“No worries! I can defeat forest beasts barehanded!”
Toka-chan declared boldly… but…
“““…………”””
“Yeah, barehanded won’t work against that.”
From the forest bushes, we observed the beast.
It was a giant snake. And it secreted thick poison from its body.
Drip… drip… the poison falling to the ground produced steam.
That was strong poison. Even inhaling that smoke would damage the mucous membranes.
“M-My lord… let’s run. Even I can’t fight that barehanded…”
“Barehanded might be impossible, but we don’t need to run from that.”
“W-What!?”
Actually, wasn’t that the [poison snake] I often saw at my master’s place?
“Perfect timing, a chance to get materials. Here I go…!”
“My lord!?”
“…Seyi-sama!?”
“Big sis!?”
I stood before the poison snake.
“Fssshaaaaaaaaaaaa!”
“Hyaaah!”
I threw a normal potion bottle at the poison snake.
The bottle hit its nose and splashed the contents.
Sizzle…!
“Gish…!”
In one hit, the venom covering the snake was purified…
The towering poison snake instantly shrank to the size of a normal snake.
“Ah, it’s escaping! Toka-chan, catch it!”
“Ah, eh… y-yes!”
The former giant snake trying to flee was captured by Toka-chan.
Nice.
“Here Toka-chan, put it alive into this bottle.”
I held out a wide-mouthed potion bottle.
She hesitantly put the snake inside. Closed the lid. Done.
“Phew… material acquired! Not food, but valuable material… Wait, what’s wrong with you three?”
Toka-chan and the others stared blankly.
“Y-You defeated that giant poison snake in one hit!?”
“Amazing amazing amazing!”
Toka-chan and Daphne-chan looked at me with sparkling eyes.
Meanwhile Zenith-chan asked with a trembling expression.
“…H-How did you do that just now? Advanced holy magic?”
“Huh? I just splashed it with an antidote potion.”
“…Antidote… potion…”
I simply neutralized the venom covering its body.
“I used to capture those poison snakes a lot for my master. So I knew how to deal with them.”
“…Amazing. To defeat a Hydra… perhaps Seyi-sama really is a saint.”
Zenith-chan muttered.
“Well, snakes aren’t edible so let’s find other food. Toka-chan, Daphne-chan, I’m counting on you.”
““Yes!””
