“So you can acquire a person’s Skill by defeating them in combat…”

After finishing his work as a porter, Reet headed straight to the city’s temple—the caravan had finally reached its destination. He needed to request a Skill and Class appraisal from the Priest.

“Hmm… hmm. This is…”

The Priest appraising Reet stared at the words appearing on the crystal in shock.

“Your Class is blank. However, you possess the Skills ‘Physical Enhancement’ and ‘Sword Art Enhancement.’ That is quite surprising. You have Swordsman-Class Skills despite not being a Swordsman yourself. What on earth has happened?”

Fundamentally, not everyone can obtain a Skill. A mere Farmer or Merchant could not possibly gain combat-oriented Skills like Physical Enhancement or Sword Art Enhancement. Yet Reet had somehow managed to do so.

“Moreover, you received a divine revelation upon turning eighteen, and yet you were assigned Classless? What does that even mean? Nothing makes sense.”

“Even you don’t understand, Priest?”

The Priest and Reet exchanged confused glances. But after a moment, the Priest murmured as if remembering something.

“Perhaps…”

“Do you have some idea?”

When Reet asked, the Priest nodded solemnly.

“I just recalled something. Apparently, there were those in the past who were never granted a Class by divine revelation.”

“Really?”

“I haven’t witnessed it myself, but that person possessed a hidden Skill.”

“A hidden Skill?”

A hidden Skill is one that cannot be confirmed through appraisal—extremely rare, but its existence is known.

“The Skill that person had was ‘the ability to mimic the Skills of opponents one has fought.’ If you possess such a Skill, it would explain why you have Skills despite having no Class.”

Upon hearing this, Reet recalled the moment he defeated the bandits and gained their Skills.

“Actually, I…”

After Reet explained the situation, the Priest nodded. “That is likely it.”

Reet felt some relief knowing that someone in the past might have possessed the same power as him—a comforting thought in the face of his own strangeness.

“Still, the details remain unclear. I have no way to verify it myself. You’ll have to investigate further on your own.”

Reet thanked the Priest and left the temple.

I need to learn more about this power.

But I don’t have any concrete plan yet.

If that’s the case, I need to act.

“I’ll become a knight.”

It was an old dream of his—one that had been cut off before, but now he could finally pursue it. The royal capital was holding a recruitment exam three weeks after Class assignment.

Let me test my swordsmanship. Let me test my power.
