Chapter 11

I gently took Amalie’s hand and led her to the sofa.

She looked bewildered, but she sat down when I prompted her to. Instead of sitting beside her, I took the sofa across from hers.

This was just a trial run, after all.

Sitting side by side right from the start was a no-go. You had to take things one step at a time before closing the distance.

I put some ice in a glass, picked up the bottle of juice, and poured.

Even something as simple as pouring a drink had an angle that made the motion look elegant.
