The Giant Lizard had its stomp deflected by my sweeping strike, but—

Apparently it had not given up.

Once again, it raised its huge leg and tried to crush me underfoot.

“The same thing again.”

Once more, my flash of a strike knocked away the giant lizard’s leg. The Giant Lizard lost its balance and staggered.

At that instant, I started running.

“Enchant—Sharp Edge!”

I deployed Sharp Edge and slashed at the giant lizard’s foreleg. My blade easily cut through the steel-like scales covering the giant lizard. Blood flowed from the flesh I split open.

The lizard’s huge body twitched from the pain.

Oh, the show is not over yet.

“Enchant—Bombardment!”

The tree branch I thrust forward sank deep into the lizard’s wound.

In the next instant, the Bombardment I had planted activated.

“Explode!”

A blast rang out. The giant lizard’s left leg—the branch embedded inside it exploded beautifully.

That was apparently too much for it to bear.

The Giant Lizard let out a scream.

That scream burst forth as magic power itself, and suddenly countless magic circles appeared in midair.

…What!?

From each and every one of those magic circles, enormous stone pillars shot out.

Straight at me—!

Tch!

So lately Giant Lizards could even deploy magic power!?

Having lost the tree branch I had used for the explosion attack, I leaped toward another branch lying on the ground.

And as I turned around—

A stone pillar was already right in front of me!

But!

“Enchant—Hardening!”

With a single swing from me, every stone pillar that came flying in shattered and burst apart in all directions.

…Phew, I am just glad my opponent is a Giant Lizard. If I were facing the magic power of some mighty dragon, this would probably not go nearly so smoothly.

“OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!”

The giant lizard roared.

At that same moment, countless magic circles deployed all at once, just like before.

Not in midair—

But on the ground, centered around my feet.

In that instant, I understood.

What was about to happen next.

“Damn it!”

Suddenly, stone pillars burst out of the ground. Thanks to the defensive magic I deployed at my feet, I avoided a fatal wound, but I could not completely kill the momentum of that overwhelming mass.

My body was struck by a stone pillar and launched high into the air.

As I hung in the air without my posture recovered, the enraged lizard’s face rushed up from below.

Its huge mouth opened wide, trying to swallow me whole.

I held out my left hand.

“Wind Burst!”

At that instant, an enormous explosion of wind erupted between the lizard and me. It stopped the giant lizard’s movement for just a moment and blasted my small body upward into the sky.

Good, I have made some distance between us—time to reset the fight!

As I was blown back, I recovered my posture and kicked off the air.

I had activated Air Ladder. This spell created footholds in midair. By casting it in succession, I generated footholds one after another, kicking off them in turn as I closed in on the Giant Lizard.

Partway there, a tree branch came flying toward me from the front.

It had probably been swept up by the aftershock of my Wind Burst. I could have ignored it, but—

I caught it in my left hand.

Dual-sword style.

Perfect timing. I had just been thinking I lacked firepower. This was not a bad choice at all.

“OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!”

The giant lizard roared at me as I came down from the sky, and once again countless magic circles unfolded.

Stone pillars were fired one after another.

My equipment was cloth clothes. If I took a direct hit, I would not get off lightly. But there was no problem at all—

If it did not hit me, it meant nothing!

I dodged the stone pillars while deftly leaping from one Air Ladder foothold to the next, closing the distance. Even the ones timed so that I could not dodge—

Giin!

One swing from me mercilessly knocked them aside.

In no time at all, I was close to the lizard’s gigantic head.

“Enchant—Sharp Edge, Sharp Edge!”

I poured into both tree branches the magic power to cut through all things. Without losing my falling speed, I drove in slashes from both right and left.

Into the lizard’s right eyeball.

The giant lizard let out a scream.

“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!”

With one eye dyed in fresh blood, the giant lizard stretched its body upward and screamed.

I fell along the giant lizard’s side—and as I fell, I slashed at the lizard’s long-stretched neck with the weapons in both hands. My enhanced strikes mercilessly shaved through the giant scales and carved apart the soft flesh beneath them.

The moment I landed, the giant lizard, with half its body shredded to pieces, could no longer endure the pain and slammed its raised upper body down to the ground.

The earth shook, and clouds of dust rose up.

Perhaps because of the massive damage it had taken in such a short time, the giant lizard’s movements had become extremely sluggish. It could not move properly—

And that was the chance I had been waiting for.

I approached a tree that the giant lizard had snapped in half. Calculating the angle and distance—

I climbed onto the fallen trunk and fired magic toward the ground.

“Wind Burst!”

The wind exploded. Pushed by that force, the fallen tree carrying me shot up into the air. And just as I had calculated, it headed straight above the giant lizard.

Trajectory calculation—if it was just calculation, even my student-day grades were enough to take pride in.

And then it fell straight toward the giant lizard’s head. Placing my hand on the trunk, I shouted:

“Enchant—Sharp Edge!”

A magical gleam lit the flying fallen tree. If a tree branch could become a weapon, then the tree itself should be no different.

But the scale of the mass was completely different.

What about this!?

The giant lizard finally seemed to notice the incoming tree. It tried to raise its face to confirm what it was—

Too late!

With a heavy, dull impact, the base of the tree—granted sharpness by my magic power—pierced straight into the giant lizard’s forehead. It drove in deep, burying nearly half of that massive trunk into the giant lizard’s head!
