The next morning, Vim woke up around late morning.
“Morning.”
“Good morning.”
When Vim headed to the living room, Hana was there.
“Is Misa still asleep?”
“As if! She’s not like you, Vim. I think Misa is out in the courtyard.”
“Right, yeah, that makes sense.”
It seemed Misa made it a habit to practice her swings in the courtyard every morning.
“Have you eaten yet?”
“Yes, Misa and I already had ours.”
“Alright, I guess I’ll grab some food too. Once I eat, let’s head to the royal palace.”
“Understood!”
Around the time Vim finished his meal—an awkward mix of breakfast and lunch—Misa returned from the courtyard, wiping the sweat off her forehead.
“Now that Misa’s back, shall we head to the royal palace?”
“I’ll go change, then.”
With that, Misa returned to her room and came back dressed in her usual knight outfit.
“Sorry to keep you waiting.”
“Alright, let me up.”
Vim stood up from the sofa.
He then set off for the royal palace, with Misa and Hana in tow.
His Majesty likely heard the basics from Count Bayle, but there were still things Vim needed to report in person.
“We have been expecting you. Right this way.”
The usual attendant led the way through the royal palace.
Today, however, it seemed they weren’t going to the usual reception room.
“His Majesty and the council are waiting for you inside.”
It was the audience chamber.
The last time Vim had visited this room was probably when His Majesty bestowed the S-Rank title upon him.
“Why the audience chamber?”
“I cannot say. I am merely following His Majesty’s orders.”
“Fair enough,” Vim said, sounding half-resigned.
The grand doors of the audience chamber were opened by the attendant.
They walked to the designated position, dropped to one knee, and bowed their heads.
Beside the red carpet stood not only His Majesty, but several high-ranking officials of the kingdom.
“Raise your heads.”
At His Majesty’s command, Vim and his group looked up.
“You have done exceptional work this time. Thanks to your actions, our nation was saved from the horde of demonic beasts. I shall grant you a reward.”
After saying that, His Majesty took a brief pause.
“First, Misa Fulmen. In recognition of your achievements, I hereby appoint you as an S-Rank adventurer!”
Murmurs erupted from the surrounding crowd. That was only natural.
There had not been a female S-Rank adventurer in over thirty years.
She was the first female S-Rank adventurer in the history of the Leoria Kingdom.
“Thank you very much. I humbly accept the title of S-Rank adventurer.”
“I bestow upon you the epithet: The Moonlight Knight.”
Having achieved S-Rank, Misa was also granted a title.
That title was… The Moonlight Knight.
