Heading For The City Of Adventurers

The moment we arrived back at the mansion, I briefed James on our upcoming assignment to handle the dungeon investigation in Heim, the City of Adventurers.
“I’m sorry, James. It looks like I’ll be leaving the estate vacant for quite a significant chunk of time once again.”
“Understood, my Lord. Please leave the management of the estate entirely in our hands.”
When you operate in the adventuring trade, remaining anchored in a single location is a rare occurrence. Your work takes you all across the kingdom, and occasionally, all across the world.
“I’m counting on you.”
Leaving things in his hands, I immediately initiated my preparations for tomorrow’s departure. I began methodically packing food and beverages into my magic bag, before stuffing in as many items as humanly possible that I calculated would be necessary for the journey.
“We shall depart first thing tomorrow morning. Let’s assemble in the courtyard at 8:00 AM sharp,” I instructed Hana and Misa.
“Understood!”
“As you command.”
Both of them readily agreed without a single moment of hesitation.
“Well then, I am going to retire for the night. Goodnight.”
Considering the early departure tomorrow, I resolved to wrap things up and head to bed right then and there.
““Goodnight, Lord Vim.””
“Make sure you two get to sleep early as well~”
Leaving them with that final note, I guided my steps toward my private bedchamber, crawled beneath the covers, and promptly let go of my consciousness.
The following morning, I opened my eyes at 7:00 AM. It felt like an exceptionally long time since I had last woken up at this hour.
“Good morning, my Lord. Breakfast has been fully prepared for you,” Aria announced.
“Thank you.”
I turned my steps toward the living room to consume my breakfast. When embarking on a journey, a lighter meal is always the absolute perfect choice. As I sat there chewing on the fresh bread provided, my mind drifted through various calculations.
“Good morning, my Lord.”
Right as I was wrapping up my meal, James addressed me.
“Morning, James.”
“I have ensured that the carriage scheduled for your journey today has been positioned and waiting in the courtyard.”
“That is a massive help. Thank you as always.”
“Please, think nothing of it. It is merely my duty, after all.” Delivering his polite reply, James turned back to resume his administrative tasks. Having a thoroughly brilliant butler on your side truly makes you acutely realize what an immense blessing it is.
Once breakfast concluded, I stepped out into the courtyard to find a grand carriage parked waiting for us.
“Oh wow, it’s as magnificent as always.”
Etched clearly into the side paneling of the vehicle was the official crest of the House of Arbel, an absolute honor bestowed upon me directly by His Majesty the King. This carriage, too, had undoubtedly been meticulously arranged by the Sovereign himself. I genuinely felt that I could never offer enough immense gratitude to fully repay how wonderfully the King treats me.
“Good morning, Lord Vim.”
“Good morning, my Lord.”
Hana and Misa were already awake and waiting out in the courtyard.
“Morning, you two. You’re out here remarkably early.”
“I managed to open my eyes a bit ahead of schedule, you see,” Hana replied with a wry smile.
“The same applies to me,” Misa chimed in, echoing her amusement.
“Well then, shall we prepare to move out?”
“Yes, let’s.”
The clock was right on the verge of ticking past 8:00 AM.
“I shall be acting as your coachman for today’s journey. I am Rolf. It is an absolute honor to serve you, My Lord.” Rolf rendered a perfectly crisp, solemn bow.
“I am in your hands, Sir Rolf.” I offered a light nod in return. With Rolf at the helm, I knew we could rest perfectly easy throughout the journey.
“Alright, let’s go.”
I offered a supporting hand to help Misa and Hana climb inside the carriage before stepping up into the compartment myself. Just as I did, James and Aria emerged from the mansion interior to see us off.
““Safe travels, My Lord!””
“We’re off.”
Answering the parting wishes of James and Aria, the carriage slowly jolted forward and began its steady advance. It cruised smoothly out of the aristocratic sector of the Royal Capital, merging seamlessly into the bustling traffic of the Central Thoroughfare. The moment we cleared the western gates designated for noble transit and left the Capital behind, our long journey toward Heim, the City of Adventurers, officially kicked off.
