Vim accelerates, heading straight for the Kingdom of Leoria. At this speed, he’ll be able to arrive much faster than by foot or by carriage. However, knowing it would be a hassle to be seen from below, he used light magic to ensure his figure remained invisible from the ground.

“I’ll be leaving the Cyrus Empire soon.”

Looking down, he saw the border line between the Cyrus Empire and the Kingdom of Leoria.

“You’ve been quite the host, Cyrus Empire.”

With that, he crossed from Cyrus into Leoria. He decided to head straight for the Royal Capital of the Kingdom of Leoria. He thought that if he went to the capital, he might find a solution to his current situation.

Just as the capital came within reach, he sensed an unpleasant presence below.

“That’s a remarkably extravagant carriage.”

There were several presences that seemed to be targeting that luxurious carriage. He had no obligation to help, and if they were nobles, they would surely have a guard or two in their employ.

Just as he was about to pass by, one of the vital signs grew faint. Looking down, he saw that one of the guards had been pierced by something resembling an arrow.

“Fine. I suppose I’ll lend a hand.”

Vim went into a steep dive. He landed directly in front of the carriage.

“Who are you?!”

A man in a knight’s uniform, presumably the other guard, directed a suspicious look at Vim.

“Don’t worry. I’m on your side. Your opponents aren’t the kind of people you can handle on your own, so I’m helping out.”

Vim spoke to the knight.

“Mind your own business…”

“Just stay quiet and watch.”

Disconnection Barrier.

Vim deployed a Disconnection Barrier to surround the carriage. With this, he could block attacks from both arrows and magic. It didn’t have the duration or durability of the Grand Mage’s version, but it would be more than enough for these lowlifes.

“Th-this is…”

The knight wore an expression of pure shock.

“Didn’t I tell you to just watch? Six of them in total, huh?”

There were approximately six individuals directing hostility toward them.

“This is a pain, so let’s settle it all at once.”

After pinpointing the enemies’ locations with search magic, he simultaneously dropped electric shock spells on them. Immediately, the hostile presence vanished. It seemed he had succeeded.

“I’ve taken care of them all. They should just be unconscious, though.”

With that, Vim deactivated the Disconnection Barrier.

“I-I see.”

With those words, the knight went to restrain the attackers along with his comrade.

Heal.

Vim cast recovery magic on the injured guard.

“Can you move?”

“Yeah, you saved me. I owe you one.”

The guard bowed his head. At that moment, a young girl and an elderly man in a tailcoat emerged from the carriage.

“Thank you for saving us from such a dangerous situation. I am the First Princess of the Kingdom of Leoria, Erin Leoria.”

The girl pinched the hem of her skirt and gave a graceful bow.

“I am Jeffrey, the Royal House Steward. Thank you for rescuing the Princess from her predicament.”

The man in the tailcoat also gave a polite bow.
