Upon returning from the Royal Palace, I locked myself away in the mansion’s study. I needed to pour over the literature concerning spatial magic.

“Yeah, just as I thought.”

In the vast majority of cases, spatial magic is utilized for inventory storage. The magic bags I own also have their carrying capacity expanded through spatial magic. However, while storage is simply the most common application, bridging two separate spaces together is indeed theoretically possible. It’s just that stretching a portal wide enough for a full-grown adult to pass through reportedly requires a colossal amount of mana.

As far as pure mana volume is concerned, that shouldn’t be an issue. I happen to possess quite a bit of confidence in the sheer depth of my mana reserves.

“This is definitely worth a shot. I’ll run some experimental trials first thing tomorrow.”

The sun had already dipped below the horizon for the day. I resolved to test out various configurations tomorrow once it was light out.

“Time to sleep.”

I changed my clothes and threw myself onto the bed.

The following morning, I rolled out of bed just before midday.

“Let’s get straight to it.”

Changing into my signature mage attire, I guided my steps out into the courtyard.

“I need to visualize anchoring one space directly to another… For the destination coordinates, the Eastern Forest should do.”

As a fundamental rule of spellcraft, internal visualization dictates the ultimate output. Flawlessly picturing the exact mechanical effect of a spell heavily determines the overall stability and success of its activation loop.

“This is surprisingly tedious…”

Bridging separate dimensions was far from an effortless exercise, even for someone of my caliber. I attempted to stabilize a micro-sized rift first, but the spatial vectors refused to align smoothly.

“Is the input mana still too low?”

I systematically compressed and dialed up the raw mass and density of my mana signature.

“Oh, did that catch?…”

The exact fraction of a second I did, a circular spatial distortion manifested smoothly right in front of my face.

“Yeah, that’s definitely the Eastern Forest.”

I poked my head through the threshold to run a quick sensory check on the perimeter; the landscape was undeniably the highly familiar layout of the Eastern Forest without a shadow of a doubt.

“Good grief, though… the energy consumption on this application is pure insanity.”

Even at this miniature scale, my internal pool was being drained at a velocity I had never experienced in my entire career. Scaling this up to a structural diameter capable of clearing a full-grown adult would undoubtedly require an exponentially larger payload of raw mana. No matter how rapidly my reserves naturally regenerate, unleashing a high-caliber chunk of power all at once always invites a certain degree of operational risk.

“Well, if it’s just a single transit cycle, I suppose I can manage it.”

Even scaled up for human transit, maintaining the rift just long enough for a single round trip felt entirely within my parameters.

Furthermore, through continuous testing, I mapped out a few hard constraints governing the spell. First, to successfully bridge a connection, the caster must have physically set foot at the target destination at least once in their past. Merely utilizing geographical data or second-hand descriptions from another person wasn’t enough computational data to anchor the portal.

“Which means I’m destined to make the manual journey to the Empire either way.”

I had never personally crossed the borders into the Griffinto Empire. In other words, to establish a permanent spatial bridge, I would first have to physically travel to the Imperial Capital the old-fashioned way.

Having consolidated all the data gathered from my trial loops, I reported straight back to the Royal Palace to brief His Majesty. Despite the completely unannounced nature of my sudden arrival, the King immediately cleared his schedule to receive me.

“I apologize for the sudden intrusion, Your Majesty. To start, allow me to deliver the report on my experimental findings.”

I systematically briefed him on the mandatory requirement of physically visiting the location beforehand, alongside the fact that executing a high-caliber spatial shift requires a specific cooldown window to stabilize my loops before it can be cast a second time.

“Remarkable as always,” the King noted, the corners of his mouth curling into a proud smirk. “I didn’t calculate you would master the fundamentals to such an extent in such a heavily compressed timeframe. As the Sovereign, I desperately want to lock this initiative in. Can I officially assign this mission to your party?”

“Understood. The moment I return to my estate, I shall initiate all mandatory preparations for the deployment.”

“I am counting on you, Vim. Rest assured, the crown shall render an exceptionally handsome reward for this service.”

Following that boundary, we hammered out the remaining logistical details and finalized our departure date for exactly one week from today.
