◇Hiroto / Zeke
Hiroto’s host body. Seventeen years old. Villain.
A villain who kept training without ever changing his goal of surviving, and acquired strength beyond what he had in the story. He had kept a certain distance from others, thinking this was just the world of a game, but after realizing that each person had their own will, emotions, and life, he changed his way of thinking. He acted to break free from the scenario, but could not change the future of becoming an enemy of the protagonist party. He actually likes sweets.

◇Aaron Izosaar
A young genius belonging to the Royal Guard Corps. Third son of the Marquis House of Izosaar. A shadowy powerhouse tied to the intelligence organization. Though he has many faces, his own suspicious behavior stands out so much that it serves as effective camouflage. His conflict with his two older brothers developed into an incident that shook the kingdom, but thanks in part to the backing of the ducal house, he continues to operate from the same position as before. Aaron’s rapier pierces all who would stand in the way of his friend’s path of conquest.

◇Aktor Astera
A young man of the Astera Ducal House and its next head. He is Ciel’s half-brother. Ever since he brought Zeke into the intelligence organization, trouble has followed one after another, and his hardships never end. Aaron’s presence gives him constant headaches as well, yet somehow, the time the three spend together is not unpleasant. He has a fiancée.

◇Ciel Astera
Eighteen years old. Silver hair. Main character.
A top-class sacred-arts user from the Astera Ducal House. Together with her guard Selen, she travels across various lands as the Silver Saintess, healing people without asking for compensation. She is usually calm and composed, but when she faced Zeke again after several years, she showed a shaken side of herself. Her hobby is taking walks.

◇Selen Bloom
Eighteen years old. Blue hair. Main character.
She had been trapped by cursed equipment, but Zeke saved her and restored her freedom. She met Ciel in the Kingdom of Diabalet, and from then on traveled with her as her guard. She tries not to reveal her past with Zeke, but because of her suggestive words and actions, Ciel has grown suspicious.

◇Maenof Protocol
The heir of House Protocol, a distant branch of the royal family. He has aptitude for sacred arts and can bring forth silver miracles a few times. Because of his selfish words and actions, Zeke cast him aside, and he ended up being captured by Pariaach. He is self-conscious about being short.

◇Dex
A large man nearly two meters tall. He cooperates with Pariaach in order to destroy the twisted world. He fought Zeke twice, but both times got completely beaten down, and now carries trauma regarding Zeke. He is not a desk.

◇Pariaach
Age unknown. A being with the appearance of a small child. Though it acts innocent, what it does is cruel. In both the original story and the main story, it serves as a troublemaker. A small star left behind by the world.

◇Van Freak
Seventeen years old. Brown hair. Main character.
The protagonist of the original story. He traveled various lands in search of a cure to save his grandfather Masfelt. In the process, he met trustworthy companions and was fortunate enough to form a connection with a sacred-arts user, but his wish to save Masfelt was never granted. He is also a collector of famous sword photo books.

◇Atri
Sixteen years old. White hair. Main character.
The heroine of the original story, once saved by Zeke in the past. She set out on a journey with Van to save Masfelt, but in the process reunited with Zeke. However, he did not recognize her, and she nearly fell into darkness. Her magical skill is so impressive that even Glanz is astonished by it. She mistakenly believes the famous sword photo books Van collects are something indecent.

◇Feluart
A young man whose trademark is his red hair. He claimed to be a B-rank adventurer and offered to help Van’s group, but his true identity was that of an ally of Pariaach, Dex, and the others. He has some kind of connection to Lagias and shows an excessive reaction toward Zeke.

◇ Eris Lark
A female D-rank adventurer active in the royal capital. An all-rounder who fights with a short sword, a short staff, and support magic as her core. She decided to become an adventurer after an A-rank adventurer saved both her and her hometown. In the original story she had died, but in the main story she is alive and well. Her father is Strohk, a regimental commander in the Knight Order.

◇Glanz Fort
Sixty-two years old. Long gray hair. Main character.
A mage called the “Sage,” who left the Mage Corps five years ago. Due in part to Zeke’s words, he is cooperating with Van’s group. As the eldest member of the party, he supports them as a mental pillar, but at times he is also a strict leader. He did not get along with Hanhanberu, the former vice commander of the Knight Order.

◇Ricky
A boy living in the royal capital. He was saved by Zeke during the attack on the royal capital two years ago. He is studying ice magic.

◇Nell
A girl living in the royal capital. She is often seen together with Ricky and Mei. More pro-Zeke than Luke.

◇Mei
A jet-black-clad girl living in the royal capital. She thinks she is perfectly imitating Zeke, but Zeke himself never noticed.

◇Luke Hartmann
Seventeen years old. Blond hair. Main character. His original-story name was Fonsell.
A young knight who was promoted to platoon leader at the youngest age. With his sweet looks and gentle manner, he is highly popular and even has a fan club. Though Zeke coldly pushes him away, Luke bears him no ill will and still sees him as his best friend. He continues polishing both sword and magic so that one day he can stand beside his best friend. ——What choice will Luke make after receiving the terrible news?

◇Skinny
A knight who entered service at the same time as Luke. After two years of being thoroughly drilled as a new recruit, he has built up a little stamina. His mouth is rough, but at heart he is kind and considerate of those around him. He is one of Luke’s best understanders.

◇Nahal
A mage assigned to Luke’s platoon. Ever since going through the entrance exam with Luke, Skinny, and the others, she has come to treasure them. She still minds the fact that Zeke once told her she lacked ability.

◇Yorn Grin
An outstanding figure who serves as a regimental commander in the Mage Corps. He was born in the provincial city of Westen. Though his hometown of Westen faced the threat of destruction, he fulfilled his duty as a soldier without letting personal feelings interfere. In the end, since Zeke saved his hometown, he hopes to repay that debt someday.

◇Brink Hartmann
A regimental commander in the Knight Order and Luke’s father. A fine middle-aged man who takes pride in being able to work alongside his son. His skill with magic swords, combining swordsmanship and magic, is first-rate. He taught Zeke swordsmanship in the past, and it may be thanks to Brink’s guidance that Zeke’s sword form is so refined.

◇ Strohk Lark
A regimental commander in the Knight Order whose ability ranks among the very best. The shield of the kingdom, having mastered a wide range from solid swordsmanship to defensive magic and healing magic. Together with Brink, he is called one of the Knight Order’s twin pillars, though he himself does not care much for the title. When his daughter Eris said she wanted to become an adventurer, he gently encouraged her.

◇Rovinz Kurtle
The deputy director of the Archaeological Survey Institute. A mad scientist who spent many years repeating monster experiments in Lagias Domain and even created an artificial dungeon. He cooperated with Pariaach because he wanted to change the world into one where he could conduct experiments freely without being bound by law. In the end, he was defeated and killed by Luke.

◇ Wishka Izosaar
The head of the Marquis House of Izosaar. An ambitious man who places the prosperity of House Izosaar above all else. He is a hardened believer in aristocratic supremacy. Due to the rebellion of his eldest and second sons, his house was pushed to the brink of survival.

◇Clotted Izosaar
The eldest son of House Izosaar. He harbors a strong inferiority complex toward Aaron. He betrayed the kingdom after being incited by Pariaach, but in the end was defeated by Zeke. He is currently in prison.

◇ Tsaity Izosaar
The second son of House Izosaar. He is dependent on his older brother Clotted and is basically obedient. Like his brother, he was used by Pariaach and became one of the fallback options.

◇Bart Pinas
A priest of the Maria Church with a vicious-looking face. Contrary to appearances, he is a high-ranking priest and a specialist in healing magic. He gives off a taciturn and unfriendly image, but he is surprisingly normal once you talk to him. Philia has started imitating Aaron’s way of speaking, and Bart is genuinely worried about her future.

◇Karen Pinas
A mature woman who supports her husband Bart. She has a soft and fluffy personality, but also shows a sharp side that can accurately discern the essence of things. She was saved by Zeke during the attack on the royal capital two years ago.

◇Philia Pinas
The angel of the Pinas family. She inherited her mother’s looks. She was used as a hostage by Clotted, but was released unharmed. She calls Aaron a weird big brother.

◇Fool Lagias
The lord of Lagias Domain and Zeke’s father. He looks young for his age, and only his appearance is exceptional. He continues to behave selfishly as always, and is hated like poison by both the domain’s people and the people of the royal capital. He does not recognize his role as a “watchman.”

◇Noisy Lagias
Fool’s wife and Zeke’s mother. Like Fool, she is a beauty with a good appearance and a terrible personality. She is searching for a marriage partner for Zeke, but her standards are so high that nothing is ever decided. Her personality changed after marrying into House Lagias.

◇ Arnica von Diabalet
A young woman who is the third princess of the Kingdom of Diabalet and stands high in the line of succession. She is one of the people who know how this world works, and believes the inheritors should be told the truth. She had planned a gathering for that purpose, but it was postponed because of the reckless actions of Clotted and the others.

◇Hanhanberu Plant
The former vice commander of the Knight Order. An exceptional figure who rose from a rank-and-file knight to vice commander. He lost his wife and child in the past, and that became the trigger for his betrayal of the kingdom. Though he had recently stepped away from the front lines, his swordsmanship remained highly skilled, and many knights sought his instruction.

◇Hares Wilder
A man who serves as a regimental commander in the Knight Order. He harbors a strong sense of crisis toward Zeke and the private army of Lagias after what he saw two years ago. Among the regimental commanders, his combat ability is on the lower end. He appeared only briefly in Chapter 3.

◇Masfelt Freak
Van’s grandfather and the strongest swordsman, bearing the title of Sword Saint. While bedridden due to mana sclerosis, he was targeted and killed by Elzen. Troubled by his relationship with Elzen, he did not want his grandson Van to walk the same path. Just before death, he entrusted a certain wish to Zeke.

◇Elzen Freak
The head of the Freak Trading Company, Van’s father, and a former Sword Saint candidate. He had steadily walked the path of the sword as Masfelt’s successor, but gave up the sword after a certain event. He is one of the people who knows the secret of this world and exists outside its laws. Now that Masfelt is dead, it is ironic that Elzen, who denies the Sword Saint, stands closest to becoming one himself.

◇Tret
A middle-aged veteran who has worked for the Freak Trading Company for many years. He is close to Van and Atri. One of the people who helped arrange the attack on the royal capital two years ago. He is also someone who knows Elzen’s goal.

◇The Knight Order and the Freak Trading Company
The attack on the royal capital two years ago was carried out through a business deal between Hanhanberu, the vice commander of the Knight Order, and Tret. Hanhanberu sought revenge on the royal family, while Tret’s goal was to find the inheritor of the “key.”
A major reason why Rovinz, the deputy director of the Archaeological Survey Institute, was able to move so freely was because of Hanhanberu’s arrangements.

◇The Lagias Dungeon in the original story
The protagonist’s party challenged the Lagias Dungeon in search of unknown technology said to sleep in the unexplored dungeon. Unlike in the main story, they struggled to reach the deepest level and defeated the boss monster. The “Spearize” they obtained was to be donated to the Archaeological Survey Institute.

◇The provincial cities Westen and Osten in the original story.
The ones dispatched to stop the artificial dungeon created through Rovinz’s scheme were Strohk, Yorn, and Fonsell’s platoon. Strohk had fallen into darkness because of the deaths of his daughter (Eris) and best friend (Brink), but in the end, he died protecting Fonsell, who was like the very image of his friend reborn.
Just as in the main story, the two provincial cities were attacked in the original as well. Yorn abandoned his duties and fought to protect his homeland of Westen, but his feelings did not reach anyone, and he died. Westen and Osten were annihilated.

◇Gate to the Otherworld
The gate of laws that separates this world from the otherworld. It is said that whoever reaches it can change the world. Once, this world had spirits called gods.

◇Key
Refers to those who bear the role of opening the Gate to the Otherworld. Three keys are needed to open the gate, and if one inheritor dies, it is passed on to the next person.

◇Spearize
The blueprint for creating a new key. Those without aptitude suffer a rejection reaction and die.

◇Guide
The one who indicates the path connecting the Gate to the Otherworld and Lagias Domain. To the Lagias, the Guide is their natural enemy.

◇Watchman
Those forcibly made to serve as guardians of the Gate to the Otherworld. They release their power in response to the Guide. They are never freed from that role until they die.

◇ Wisher (Diabalet)
Those said to have opened the Gate to the Otherworld and had their wish granted. Diabalet wished for peace in the world, and Lagias became their sword.
