Character Introductions

◇ Hiroto Namiki
He was a high school student who, before he knew it, had possessed the villain of the home-console RPG “Wish Soul.” As a fan of the original, he had looped the game many times and thus possessed a fair amount of game knowledge. He also had a shrewd side that did not choose his means if it served his goal.

◇ Zeke Lagias
He had black hair and blue eyes.
He was the worst of the worst villains who appeared in the original, called “Evil Beyond Redemption” by fans. He had numerous entanglements with the protagonist’s party, and multiple boss battles were prepared against him. His ability alone was genuine—a magic swordsman who wielded both blade and spell—and in the end he lost his life.

◇ Hiroto / Zeke
He was Hiroto’s possession target, twelve years old.
Perhaps due to compliance with the original settings, his manner of speech was forcibly converted into harsh words. As in the game, he possessed high potential in both sword and magic. He himself barely realized this; it was merely the result of desperate training to survive. His specialty magic was ice.

◇ Brink Hartmann
He was a former knight.
A “nice middle-aged man” who instructed Hiroto in swordsmanship, he was hired by the House of Lagias thanks to his past career as a regimental commander. He had a sick son, but recovered thanks to a special remedy granted by Zeke (Hiroto). In the original, he died for certain reasons.

◇ Luke Hartmann
He was twelve, with blond hair.
Brink’s only son, not yet appearing in the main story. Afflicted with “mana sclerosis,” he had lived bedridden, but he narrowly survived thanks to the special remedy. In the original, Luke Hartmann never appeared.

◇ Fool Lagias
He was Zeke’s father and the current lord of the Lagias Domain. Together with his wife, Noisy Lagias, fans called them the “Corrupt Couple.” Always scheming to amass wealth by any means, he, like Zeke, bore grudges with the protagonist’s party in the original and ultimately died.

◇ Noisy Lagias
She was Zeke’s mother and Fool’s wife. She had a weakness for jewelry. Her personality was rock-bottom, though her looks were quite good. As with Fool, her death had been fixed in the original.

◇ Simon
He was a soldier employed by the House of Lagias and a detachment leader. He did not appear in the original.

◇ Atri
She was eleven, with white hair.
Though she had lived normally in early childhood, because she stood at the center of many strange phenomena she was called an “accursed child” and persecuted by the village. After meeting and being saved by Zeke (Hiroto), she decided to live with him as her goal. In the original, she was a member of the protagonist’s party and a heroine. Though she had discarded the name “Atri” in the original, she did not discard it in the main story here. Because her appearance differed greatly and even her name was different from the original point in time, Hiroto did not notice who she was.

◇ Van Freak
He was twelve, with brown hair.
He was the original’s protagonist. While helping his father’s peddling, he traveled around various lands. His dream for the future was to become the strongest swordsman. In combat he served as a frontline attacker centered on close-range strikes. His grudge with Zeke was particularly deep.

◇ Elzen Freak
He was Van’s father.
Head of the Freak Trading Company, he traveled from place to place in the course of peddling. When he found children without guardians, he provided aid or protection, and as in both the original and the main story, he took Atri from the village. His own father had once been a noted swordsman.

◇ Glanz Folt
He was fifty-eight, with long gray hair.
Belonging to the mage corps and wielding many kinds of magic, he bore the epithet “the Sage.” With excellence in both ability and character, he rose to the vice-captain’s seat. Having had his comrades saved by Zeke (Hiroto), he felt a great debt of gratitude. In the original he lamented his own powerlessness and retired, but in the main story, having witnessed Zeke’s young talent, he left the mage corps under the pretext of yielding the way to those who followed. He was a kindly grandfather.
