Adam, who had been steeped in thought, was just about to say something.
Right then, the door of the shelter flew open with a loud thud, and children poured out from inside in a chaotic swarm.
“Artificial Intelligeeeence!”
“Biiig Booosss!”
“Wow, the underboss is here too!”
It was the children led by Jera. Jera’s momentum, in particular, was tremendous.
“Biiig Booosss!”
Jera, running over like a rhinoceros, leaped up and clung tightly onto Adam’s waist. The other children were exactly the same. The brats found any spot they could grasp on Adam’s arms, legs, or anywhere else and clung on tightly.
It was a heartwarming spectacle, but in Shuri’s eyes, it looked exactly like a pack of hyenas swarming a massive buffalo. Swallowing her dry saliva, she slowly backed away.
‘If that were me, my waist would have snapped.’
However, Adam did not budge an inch. It was a moment where his high-weight body of 250 kilograms truly shined. Laughing ha-ha, he looked around at the children.
“Has everyone been doing well? You have all finished your homework, correct?”
“Home… work? More importantly, I have something to display to the Big Boss!”
Grinning broadly enough to show the gap where his front teeth were missing, Jera tugged at Adam.
“Let’s go, Big Boss!”
“Underboss! You come here too, underboss!”
Shuri looked up at Adam with an anxious face.
‘Will the jealous Adam really leave me and the inspector alone to work?’
She naturally assumed he would refuse to go.
Instead, Adam spoke in an endlessly gentle voice.
“Shuri, I shall go spend some time with the children for a moment.”
With her eyes wide, Shuri nodded her head.
“Will you? If you’re fine with it, go ahead.”
Adam tilted his head lightly as if smiling. After smoothly brushing back her disheveled hair, he even extended a polite greeting to Jiss.
“Mr. Walker, if you require my assistance, you may call for me at any time.”
Wearing a faint smile, Jiss nodded his head.
“I shall do so.”
Driven and pulled by the children’s relentless pestering, Adam and Bokbok-i ended up being dragged away.
Beholding the massive robots surrounded and dragged away by tiny brats, Jiss laughed delightfully.
“They truly love robots, perhaps because they are children.”
“Even though there’s such a cute robot right here, they only love giant robots like that.”
Glaring at the rear view of the children, Shuri set Unimo down on the ledge of the truck. Beholding Unimo, Jiss burst into laughter once more.
“Wow, this is a tremendously cute doll robot!”
Shuri spoke proudly.
“It’s a domestic robot that I am participating in the development of. Unimo, greet him. This is Mr. Jiss!”
Awakening from standby mode at Shuri’s voice calling its name, Unimo looked up at Jiss and greeted him.
[Large friend, hello! I am Shuri’s friend, Unimo!]
“Hello, Unimo? My name is Jiss Walker, an inspector from UH’s Robotics System Evaluation Bureau.”
Like a skilled professional, Jiss provided the precise information Unimo required.
[Jiss is a robot, I see!]
Of course, whether Unimo could actually remember that was an entirely different matter.Shuri let out an embarrassed laugh and shook Unimo’s silicone horn.
“I’m sorry. This robot is designed with that concept in mind.”
“Haha, I see! In any case, it’s cute. That’s the ultimate virtue for a domestic doll robot.”
“Thank you. I’ll raise it well! And Mr. Jiss, about Nightingale……”
“Oh, yes! Did a method cross your mind?”
Jiss looked at her with twinkling eyes.
Entering work mode, Shuri spoke.
“Rather than fixing Nightingale, I think we need to make it relearn. In other words, it requires machine learning!”
“Learning……”
Nodding his head with his mouth slightly open, Jiss scratched his head.
“I’m sorry. I don’t know much about that field.”
Shuri smiled brightly.
“An AI engineer is right here, so do not worry! It isn’t difficult at all. For starters, let’s go see Nightingale.”
Beholding the confident Shuri, Jiss wore a bright smile to match hers.
“Wow, that’s incredibly reassuring. Well then, I’ll go pack some equipment!”
Although the Patrol Bot had given them a heads-up that ‘Nightingale has become a bit timid’……
“I am a robot that should not be here……”
Nightingale hadn’t merely become timid; she was completely digging herself into a hole.Laughing ha-ha, Shuri opened the door and stepped inside the room.
“The hero has arrived!”
“Miss Shuri, Mr. Walker. Welcome.”
Nightingale’s room, which used to look like a warehouse, had completed its transformation with a fresh look. The scent of paint wafted strongly from the newly painted white walls, and a patient bed was placed on one side, rendering it look exactly like an infirmary somewhere.
Several drawings drawn by the children were attached to the wall, and the one attached to the wall right beside Nightingale’s charging station undoubtedly looked like Artist Riley’s drawing. On the paper torn from a sketchbook, a scene was drawn where Nightingale was handing a rabbit doll to Riley.
The room was white and bright like that, but Nightingale’s voice was dark.
“You exerted effort for my sake, but I failed. I am sorry for failing to live up to your expectations.”
Shuri rapidly ran over.
“It’s fine!”
She firmly grasped Nightingale’s hand. She then looked up at the porcelain doll-like beautiful face of the medical robot and spoke.
“A situation like this isn’t a failure; it simply informs us of what we are lacking. It means there’s a possibility to get better, and it represents hope!”
“Miss Shuri……”
“We will help you!”
As if resolving something, Nightingale nodded her head resolutely.
“I do not wish to terrify the children ever again. I shall do absolutely anything!”
“Great! There’s no need to worry. What you require is just a bit of learning. Now, could you pause your operations for a moment?”
“Understood. Then, I shall see you in a little while.”
Soon, Nightingale shut down her operations. Shuri opened the cover of the connection port located on the back of the medical robot’s head.
Upon plugging the connection cable into the data port and linking it to the laptop, a black screen appeared on the laptop’s panel. Looking closely, it was an interface for administrators set against a background of outer space filled with stars.
Shuri was amazed.
“As expected of UH! Even the interface looks cool.”
“Haha, they did make it well, didn’t they?”
Soon, a white cockpit appeared in the center of the screen. Sitting in the cockpit was the avatar of an AI assistant in the appearance of a cute robot.
Waving its hand toward them, the AI assistant struck up a conversation via chat.
[How may I assist you?]
“So cute……!”
Stamping her feet at the sight of the adorable robot, Shuri snapped out of it and spoke.
“Pull up N0138’s emotion recognition module!”
[Understood.]
Soon, a module tree expanded on the left side of the screen.
Jiss asked.
“Miss Shuri, the notion of making Nightingale learn seems fine. However, do you plan to train Nightingale here? I do not possess that kind of data.”
At Jiss’s words, Shuri grinned broadly.
“You do!”
She then pointed at Unimo.
“Unimo possesses it. The data on the children in the Soul Garden.”
“……!”
Jiss appeared genuinely astonished. Forgetting his usual leisurely attitude, he leaned his body toward her and asked.
“Are you saying we can extract that kind of data from that doll robot?”
“Yes! Just in case something like this happened, I explicitly structured the program that way during the design phase.”
Setting Unimo down next to the laptop, Shuri requested.
“Unimo, I require your assistance.”
Flashing its silicone horn, Unimo spoke.
[Anything, if it’s something I can help with!]
“Will you tell us the stories of our friends in the Soul Garden?”
[Sure!]
Loading the data, Unimo spoke in a happy voice.
[Unimo met lots of friends at the Soul Garden. I remember everyone! Sisi is an incredibly kind and delicate child, and she loves to draw. Mia is a scaredy-cat, but she’s a cool friend who becomes brave when other friends cry…….]
Flashing a V-sign with her fingers, Shuri let out a hi-hi laugh.
“How about it? It’s pretty good learning data, right?”
