Buffeted by a powerful gust that felt like it might carry her body away, Cordelia dropped to her knees on the floor. When she raised her face, only Hina stood calmly. Beside her appeared a sinister giant beast, easily twice Hina’s size.

(That is… the Sacred Beast Fenrir!?)

Fenrir’s body was pure white, yet its murky dark eyes were twisted with hatred, and drool dripped endlessly from its wide-open mouth. Its large white fangs gleamed with blade-like sharpness. Even a starving wolf would not look this terrifying.

(This is completely different from the original!)

Cordelia cried out inwardly.

In the original story, Fenrir was a beautiful beast, a sacred and noble creature capable of dispersing stagnant air with a single glare.

Cordelia of her previous life (Kana) had liked Fenrir so much she bought merchandise almost as much as she did Isaac’s… and yet.

(This… this really looks like nothing but a monster…!)

There was not a trace of the Fenrir she loved. Sadness overtook fear, and Cordelia instinctively covered her mouth to hold back tears.

“…This is Kana-chan’s fault. It’s because Kana-chan won’t listen to me.”

Hina, who had somehow come to stand before her, looked down at Cordelia with clouded eyes.

(At a time like this…!)

—Snap. The sound of her patience breaking rang out. Cordelia stood straight and swung her right hand with all her might.

Smack!

The dry sound of a slap echoed through the audience chamber.

“That’s enough!”

She no longer cared about the gazes around her.

“Think carefully about who is causing trouble with selfishness! You may have always gotten everything you wanted before, but not anymore! I am no longer Kana, and you are not Hina either! Open your eyes and face reality!”

Hina clutched her struck cheek and collapsed onto the ground. Her stunned appearance resembled a child scolded by her parents for the first time. Cordelia’s heart pricked with pain, but now was not the time to dwell on it.

“Stay there and watch! Because of your selfishness the country is about to be destroyed, but I will not allow it. I will stop it!”

It was pure bravado, yet those words also spurred herself on.

(That’s right! So what if it’s Fenrir! I’m a reincarnator with cheat abilities granted by the goddess! Probably!)

She glared at Fenrir with enough force to make a metallic sound ring.

The ominous beast bared its thick fangs and glared back as if about to leap at her any moment. The terrifying sight made her shudder, but she clenched her hands and steeled herself.

And then—

At the same moment the wind split with a heavy sound, Fenrir leapt at Cordelia.
