Though somewhat covered in dust, Fenrir stood tall with its back straight, its glossy fur swaying as it calmly remained in place. The murky dark eyes from before had vanished, replaced only by clear golden eyes that seemed to see through everything.
Its form, now divine compared to before, left everyone present staring blankly in a daze.
“Ah…!”
Breaking the silence came Isaac’s voice.
Apparently the water mages, just like everyone else, had become captivated and stopped treating him. Blood once again spurted vigorously from the wound, and the water mages hurriedly resumed healing.
Watching this, Fenrir tilted its head and spoke in a low voice that shook the air.
“Oh? So you are the Holy Maiden of this era. Quite a spirited way of summoning me—though occasionally such a thing is acceptable.”
(Huh? Who is it talking to?)
Looking around, everyone silently stared at Cordelia as if to say, “You.”
(Me? Then that’s mistaken. I’m the exact opposite of a Holy Maiden—a dark mage.)
Facing the Sacred Beast, which seemed to have made a grand misunderstanding, Cordelia cleared her throat. Trying not to be rude, she brushed the dust from her dress and stood upright.
“Um… Lord Fenrir.”
Fenrir now carried a dignity that made it impossible not to add “Lord.”
“With all due respect, it is not me. The Holy Maiden is over there. I am merely a dark mage.”
She raised her hand and pointed to Hina, and Fenrir’s long face followed her gesture.
Several moments passed.
“…How strange. I do recall being awakened by that one… yet you also possess the power of the Holy Maiden.”
“Eh!?”
A strange sound slipped from her mouth.
“W-what are you saying! I told you earlier, I am a dark mage—”
“No, you possess it. Try healing that boy’s injury. You should be able to.”
“Eh!? I can do that!?”
Cordelia immediately rushed to Isaac. Thanks to the treatment, the bleeding from his right arm had lessened somewhat, but showed no sign of stopping.
She held her hand over the wound—then looked back at Fenrir.
“Um, could you teach me how?”
The golden eyes twisted with exasperation.
“How have you been using magic until now?”
“Well, um, by gathering the magic power within my body…”
“Then do that.”
(Honestly… I’ve been saying I can only use dark magic… huh?)
