Yu Jinsan waited at the inn with the True Heavens Six Warriors for his granddaughter.

He stared quietly at the broken inn door and muttered.

“That fellow must have about two lives.”

The True Heavens Six Warriors, heavily drunk, chuckled and clutched their bellies.

“Puhaha! What an unlucky bastard. He didn’t even know whom he was taking.”

“Heh heh. People have many inventive ways to kill themselves.”

“I’ve never seen someone so crazy in my life.”

Yu Jinsan also couldn’t help but smile.

He knew well that his granddaughter had let herself be taken on purpose.

No matter how fierce the Southern Lands Sex Fiend was, he stood no chance against Yu Seol even for a single move.

He had stayed back to let her gain more experience in the martial world.

“Still, judging by his light footwork skill, he seemed at least beyond peak level.”

The martial arts level of the True Heavens Six Warriors was only first-rate.

Even with their numbers, it didn’t look easy for them to catch the Southern Land Sex Fiend; only with great luck might they succeed.

“Yes, any mistake and we could’ve all been dead.”

“We didn’t expect him to be that strong.”

“Come to think of it, today has really been a lucky day.”

Yu Jinsan snorted and refilled each of their cups.

“The murim world is vast and full of warriors. If you don’t size up your opponent and start off arrogant, you’re as good as dead.”

Cheon Un-pil, the eldest among the True Heavens Six Warriors, refilled Yu Jinsan’s cup and spoke.

“We’ll remember that, sir. It’s a rare pleasant day—have another drink.”

Just as they raised their cups together.

A familiar shout came from the doorway.

“Grandpa!”

Everyone turned their heads toward the entrance.

Yu Seol had already dashed into the inn.

“How did it go? Did you find the hideout?”

“Yeah, I rescued someone.”

They sensed another presence outside the inn.

When Yu Jinsan stood up, the True Heavens Six Warriors began dispelling their drunkenness with inner energy.

“Good, well done.”

Outside stood a woman modestly cloaked in a windproof robe.

Yu Seol stepped forward and explained what had happened so far.

How she had tracked the Southern Land Sex Fiend, punished him, and rescued Yang So-hee.

The True Heavens Six Warriors listening nearby cheered, saying it was satisfying.

“So you decided to escort her home?”

“Yeah, she said she’s scared to go alone.”

After what she’d been through, it was entirely understandable.

Since the Yang family estate was on the way, it posed no problem.

“Promises must be kept. Even if it’s getting dark, with light footwork skill you’ll reach there in about an hour.”

Yang So-hee approached Yu Jinsan and bowed.

“…Thank you.”

Yu Jinsan nodded once and took his leave of the True Heavens Six Warriors.

“We part ways here. It was a pleasure meeting fine friends today.”

The True Heavens Six Warriors, regretful, clasped hands one by one in heartfelt farewell.

“No one will believe what happened today. It was truly an unforgettable experience.”

“Rumors can’t be trusted. I didn’t expect such fine people among the Evil factions.”

“Thank you for capturing the Southern Land Sex Fiend, the True Heavens Clan’s enemy.”

“We’ll cheer for the Yin Yang Twin Monster’s exploits going forward.”

Despite the Justice Faction and Evil factions often at odds, the True Heavens Six Warriors spoke sincerely.

Yu Jinsan returned their respectful salutes.

Then Yu Seol turned back to the inn to pay the bill.

“How much is it? I’ll pay for the door repairs too.”

The inn was small, and the innkeeper and server was the proprietor.

Maybe that’s why he beamed broadly and hurried over, bowing profusely.

He’d been worried whether he’d even be able to collect for food, let alone the door; so of course he was overjoyed.

“Ah, you really don’t have to.”

“Really? Then just the food, please.”

The server’s smiling face slowly stiffened.

But what could he do; he’d already said it.

“Ah, y-yes…”

Finding it amusing, Yu Seol giggled and handed over a silver coin.

“Puhihi. Just kidding. Take this.”

“M-mister. We don’t have change for a silver coin.”

Yu Seol pressed the silver coin into the server’s hand and said.

“You were frightened today because of us, right? That’s why we’re giving it all to you.”

The server was overjoyed at the unexpected windfall.

“Oh my, thank you. Thank you so much!”

Though night was deep, some could not sleep.

Right now the Yang family estate was in an uproar.

Renowned master of the Yang family’s Pear Blossom Spear, Yang So-cheon had succeeded as head of the family at a young age and was capable.

He paced the courtyard with a dark expression because his younger sister had gone missing for days with no news.

All the household searched far and wide but could find no trace.

“Sigh…”

He sighed in frustration.

Someone gripping a long spear approached from behind and spoke.

“Brother, no matter where we look there’s not a trace. This really looks like the work of the Southern Land Sex Fiend.”

“No… that can’t be.”

“Two women went missing in the neighboring village too. The circumstances point that way.”

“I’ve heard no woman ever escaped alive from that fiend. Are you saying our youngest is dead?”

The second brother, Yang So-mun, said with a frustrated look.

“Our youngest wouldn’t leave without saying a word. I know you favor So-hee, but this is hopeless otherwise.”

“So what do you propose?”

“Stop the pointless searches and track the Southern Land Sex Fiend. At least we’ll get revenge.”

It was essentially a call to accept their youngest’s death.

Angered, Yang So-cheon ground his teeth.

“Just try to get caught. I’ll tear him limb from limb—?”

He couldn’t finish; the estate gate slammed open.

There, the fourth brother Yang So-pil raced in, out of breath.

“Brothers! The youngest has returned!”

“What, what did you say? So-hee’s back—what do you mean?”

Yang So-cheon and Yang So-mun rushed to him.

Behind Yang So-pil, a familiar woman ran up in tears.

“…sob sob.”

“So-hee, what on earth happened!?”

The brothers patted her and examined her condition.

Though cloaked, her clothes were torn to shreds.

“…I was taken by that Southern Land Sex Fiend.”

“Ha… that bastard—where is he now?”

“Brothers, we’ll find him and tear him apart right now!”

Yang So-hee wiped her tears and pointed back over her shoulder.

“Those people saved me.”

The household’s gazes finally turned backward.

At that moment, Yang So-cheon, who recognized them first, was shocked.

“…Um, the Yin Yang Twin Monster?”

How could he not know? The one who defeated him in the spear tournament semifinals was a Yang Monster.

They smiled quietly, a warm smile showing no sign of hostility.

Yang So-cheon quickly approached and clasped hands in thanks.

“Thank you so much. You’ve done us a great favor.”

“Favor? Our business here is done; we’ll be on our way.”

Just as Yu Jinsan turned to leave.

“Wait, great warrior! It’s late—please stay and sleep here tonight.”

“Wouldn’t that be inconvenient? I don’t want to be a burden.”

The Yang family is neutral and does not involve itself in martial disputes.

Therefore, befriending the Yin Yang Twin Monster would violate their principles.

But Yang So-cheon shook his head without hesitation.

“Not at all. What would our family be if we sent our benefactors away like this?”

The Yang family, having produced many officials, would not be troubled by such a small matter.

More than anything, while he himself was fine, he couldn’t easily let his granddaughter give up a warm bed.

When he glanced left, Yu Seol nodded—an eager sign to accept.

Reluctantly, Yu Jinsan accepted his offer.

“Then we’ll owe you for just one night.”

“Owe us? If you lack anything, just say the word.”

Although late, the Yang estate was full of joy.

All the household members gathered to welcome Yang So-hee.

Seeing his proud granddaughter, Yu Jinsan couldn’t help but smile.

“It’s a wonderful sight. If you hadn’t rescued her, it would’ve been a disaster.”

“Yes, thank goodness.”

Yu Jinsan and his granddaughter received warm hospitality at the Yang estate.

The previous night they spent in the coziest pavilion of the manor.

The next morning, Yu Jinsan, awake first, stretched.

Beside him his granddaughter lay sprawled on her stomach.

Perhaps the bedding was comfortable—she seemed to want more sleep.

He moved quietly toward the door, keeping his presence minimal.

“Grandpa, where are you going?”

Turning back, Yu Seol asked with her eyes closed.

“You’re up? We should be getting ready to leave.”

“I’ll rest a little longer. The bedding here is so soft and nice.”

“All right. I’ll step out for some air—when you wake, pack your things and come out.”

Outside, Yu Jinsan breathed the clear air and headed to the clearing behind the pavilion.

His morning routine was always to loosen up his body first thing.

‘There won’t be many days left living on other people’s roofs.’

Once he reached Ho County, he planned to buy a house with the three hundred silver coins he had taken from the Blue Dragon Troops.

He couldn’t dream of an estate like the Yang family’s, but he could probably afford a modest homestead with a small training ground and a vegetable plot.

Imagining his granddaughter’s delight made him smile.

‘Well then, I’ll warm up a bit.’

Being a spear family, training spears were scattered all around.

Yu Jinsan picked up the shortest, slender wooden spear.

Perhaps because it was early, no one was around.

The wooden spear in his grip sliced the air as he began a spear dance.

There was no flair to his movements; with no inner power, he moved lightly just to loosen his body.

As the head of the Yu family, training at the Yang family’s grounds; who could have imagined it.

It felt strangely odd, just then.

“Hey!”

At the voice of a little girl, Yu Jinsan stopped his practice.

He planted the spear vertically and looked toward the voice.

A girl with hair rolled up like rabbit ears approached.

She looked much smaller than his granddaughter—perhaps eight or nine years old at most.

“You were the one who brought Aunt So-hee back yesterday, right?”

The little thing spoke informally and bluntly.

She was probably too young to know the niceties of the martial world, so he let it slide.

“Mm. That’s right.”

“I’m Cho-mi. Yang Cho-mi.”

“All right, Cho-mi. But what is it?”

The girl who called herself Yang Cho-mi rummaged in her bosom.

She pulled out a reddish fruit.

“Hey, you don’t have these at your place, do you?”

“Peaches picked in autumn are the best. You’ve never had them, right?”

The tiny thing was teasing an elder; Yu Jinsan lost interest and replied.

“I’m not much for peaches. You eat it.”

At that moment Cho-mi’s brow pinched; she looked extremely shocked and displeased.

“What did you say!?”
