Men in red masks charged from all sides like a pack of dogs.
Yet each time they neared the Yin Yang Twin Monster, they simply collapsed.
The gap in martial skill was overwhelming; they weren’t given a moment to form ranks.
“I am Shaanxi’s Number One Spear, Yu Jinsan!”
Yu Jinsan cut through the enemy lines without hesitation, exhilarated. It felt like his old fighting spirit had returned, hot blood rushing through him.
He twisted his grip and plunged into the enemy ranks like a man possessed.
He unleashed the Flying Advance Killing Force—the fastest, fiercest charge among the Yu Family’s Wind Slaying Spear techniques.
KWAANG! JJEOK! PUUK!
Each time the Dragon Slaying Spear expelled a red surge of energy, his whole body shook. His reactions were sharper than ever, and the relentless power pouring from his dantian threatened to run wild.
No one could stop him.
Where he charged, two enemy warriors lay sprawled, life snuffed out. Still, the Dragon Slaying Spear, its red spear qi crackling, did not pause.
KWAANG! PUUK!
Another foe’s chest split in a single exchange. He drew his spear free, spun a hundred and eighty degrees, and flowed into another Wind Slaying Spear strike.
CHWAAAH!
He cleaved open the man attempting to ambush him from behind, slicing through weapon and body.
The difference in skill and the monstrous spear technique were sheer terror—but not a single enemy retreated. They must have taken powerful awakening poisons; each pupil was constricted. They would not stop until death, and Yu Jinsan felt the same.
“Come on!”
Three more enemies latched onto his flanks and rear. His body spun like a storm, energy streaming in every direction as he executed the Rotating Dragon Killing Slash—used when surrounded.
KWAKWAKWANG!
The three charging him were flung back and stumbled. Yu Jinsan didn’t miss his chance; just as he readied a strike on the nearest foe, his brow tightened.
‘…This feeling?’
Sensing an ill omen, he hastily recovered his spear and assumed a defensive stance.
Sure enough, a streak of light flashed like lightning and struck his spear’s blade.
KWAAANG!
The sudden impact nearly wrenched the spear from his hand. The heavy surprise attack lifted his feet off the ground with a whoosh and sent him flying.
Someone with white hair was rushing toward him, hair whipping behind him. It was Jeon Sa-ryong, the Water Battle King—the South Murim World’s strongest, and one of the Blood-Thunder Temple’s Heavenly Kings from Little Thunderclap Temple. He had finally appeared.
‘All right. Let’s see what you’ve got, you bastard!’
Mid-flight, Yu Jinsan planted his right foot against a tree to halt and thrust his spear forward in counterattack.
Yu Family Wind Slaying Spear, Seventh Form: One-Light Extreme Flash.
A streak of light shot like lightning toward Jeon Sa-ryong. In that instant Yu Jinsan saw one corner of Jeon’s mouth twitch upward—his premonition had been right.
Tuh-uhp!
With a click, Jeon Sa-ryong deflected the spear tip and snatched the shaft with his right hand. A chill ran down Yu Jinsan’s spine.
‘…How is this possible?’
One-Light Extreme Flash was the fastest of the Wind Slaying Spear forms. Jeon Sa-ryong not only evaded it—he broke the weapon from him. Yu Jinsan had thought himself stronger, but Jeon remained an insurmountable wall.
Before he realized it, Jeon Sa-ryong’s left hand, stained red, lunged for his chest. Yu Jinsan gritted his teeth and thrust his left palm forward.
Yu family technique staff, Third Form: Flying Projection Blast—he erupted qi from his palm to blast the opponent away.
The two palms collided in midair.
KWAAANG!
The impact felt like his left arm was being torn off. Jeon Sa-ryong did not budge an inch.
“Guhk!”
His left shoulder felt dislocated and movement painful, but there was no time to lament—this was not an opponent who would watch him falter.
Yu Jinsan watched Jeon’s continued assault with a sinking heart.
‘What a fiasco…’
He would have to endure with body-protecting energy and Vajra Indestructible, but against this foe there was no way to fully withstand it. It was life or death.
Then a spear sliced the air from somewhere, approaching at incredible speed—so fast it rivaled lightning.
Whiriririck!
Yu widened his eyes.
‘The Spear Control Technique?’
There was no doubt: his granddaughter had finally come to help. A red, hand-like grip diverted the incoming spear and defended.
KKWAAANG!
Jeon Sa-ryong staggered from the heavy crash. The assault, however, pressed on—the qi-infused spear drove at him relentlessly.
KAKANG! KAKAKAKANG!
Surprised by the sudden onslaught from Spear Control, Jeon began to retreat step by step. Only now could Yu Jinsan finally breathe.
“Why did you come so late?” Yu Seol, who had been using the Spear Control Technique, approached and muttered. “I told you to stick by my side. Why did you go so far alone?”
He wanted to scold her but couldn’t—he’d gotten excited and pushed too far himself.
Yu Jinsan set his dislocated shoulder and said quietly, “Grandpa got carried away. Quickly, knock that damned fellow flat.”
She had already intended to do exactly that. Yu Seol nodded and fully opened the right hand she’d been extending. The Dragon Flower Spear that had been pressing Jeon Sa-ryong in the air snapped back into her grip with a click.
“Anchovy, come here.”
Irritated, Jeon Sa-ryong ripped the wind-skirt from his back with a snap. Seeing Yu Seol seemed to infuriate him further. The two prepared to clash across about five meters, and as their superhuman momentum erupted, dust swirled like a storm.
Parrrruk!
Yu Jinsan wanted to watch, but he had no leisure. Three golden-clad warriors—effectively Jeon Sa-ryong’s right arm—arrived. Yu Jinsan loosened his left shoulder and stood to block them from aiding Jeon.
“You lot, this old man will entertain you.”
The three golden warriors exchanged glances and moved as if to encircle him. In truth, no matter how much Yu Jinsan had grown, taking on three at Supreme realm was reckless. His concern eased at that moment, however.
“Brother Yang! Yield one of them to me.”
A huge man clenched his fists and strode forward. The grim-faced man was Il Kwang—the rebel commander.
“You’re indulgent indeed. If you’d come a bit later, I might have resented you.”
Il Kwang laughed awkwardly and relaxed his fists. “Apologies for the delay. From now on, you may count on me.”
Roughly, the balance among the absolute masters had been arranged as planned. The problem was that warriors in red masks still remained; before long they reformed and watched for an opportunity.
Yu Jinsan smiled and said, “But are you all right just standing around?”
At that moment red smoke began to rise from various parts of the island, quickly intensifying. From its color there was no doubt: a poisonous herb field was burning. The startled enemy warriors hesitated.
Then one of the golden warriors shouted at them, “Don’t worry about this place—you all go and stop them!” They trusted in their numbers and dispersed to guard the herb field.
Yu Jinsan grinned. “Then shall we begin too?” He wanted to finish quickly and go cheer for his granddaughter.
Where Yu Seol and Jeon Sa-ryong fought, heaven and earth shook.
“I’ll take the one on the right.” Il Kwang pointed to the golden warrior who had been giving orders—the strongest of the three. The other two were Yu Jinsan’s responsibility.
“Do so.” Yu Jinsan nodded once and launched into action.
Taat!
He shot forward without warning, giving everything from the start. The red surge from the Dragon Slaying Spear lashed out and struck both golden warriors simultaneously.
KWAANG!
As the attackers tried to defend and fall back, Il Kwang was already mixing it up with the other man. A fight to the death had begun.
The two facing Yu Jinsan wielded bizarre weapons—one a strange sword with a circular blade, the other a whip of chains. They rushed him without restraint.
Yu Jinsan moved calmly, evading and looking for an opening.
PAANG! PAPAPAT!
Surges of qi raged around, but his face remained composed. One word came to mind: ‘Slow.’ Perhaps from his recent clash with Jeon Sa-ryong, the golden warriors’ attacks seemed unbearably sluggish. His dynamic vision and reaction speed overwhelmed them; the depth of his internal power was like a deep sea—this was a fight he could not lose.
There was no reason to hesitate.
The Dragon Slaying Spear, imbued with a red spear wave, launched its counterattack.
KWAAANG!
The two stepping back looked bewildered, as if they couldn’t fathom the situation. Yu Jinsan seized the moment and began his footwork. His feet moved dazzlingly, instantly creating dozens of illusory duplicates—his family’s pride: the Whirlwind Step.
He accelerated so suddenly he seemed almost immortal, circling the two golden warriors like a whirlwind and blurring their vision.
‘Taste this, you brats. This is the Seol Seol Beatdown our granddaughter devised!’
It was the lethal technique their granddaughter had created, paired with Tentacle One Hundred and Eight Strikes. With increased mastery, the move’s power had reached another dimension.
Ssssssk!
Trapped in the whirlwind, the two golden warriors panicked and backed into each other, unable to predict which duplicate would strike. Dozens of copies made any counterattack impossible.
Suddenly a cluster of strikes poured from every direction.
PAPAPAPAPAT!
There were no fake blows—each was genuine, heavy with internal qi—and nowhere to dodge, like the Ten Thousand Fold Net. The two bewildered warriors swung wildly at the onslaught.
KWAKWAKWANG! KWAKWAKKWAKWANG!
Collisions thundered. They blocked well enough, but not perfectly. When the whirlwind subsided, one staggered, blood flowing from his abdomen—he was seriously wounded.
With their momentum broken, Yu Jinsan’s whole body brimmed with the power of the Muscle Changing Technique and erupted with fierce momentum.
SWAHAAAAK!
‘I’ll finish it this time.’
He intended to settle the fight with this attack, even if it meant pushing himself, eager to go watch his granddaughter’s duel.
As the pupils of the golden warriors visible through their masks filled with despair, Yu Jinsan rode his momentum and launched his decisive assault.
