“This mount really is impressive!”

Young Master Naiye looked up, admiring the mount Eren had prepared; its massive size was truly imposing.

It was a sturdy Direhorn, with powerful, muscular legs and a body full of muscle and fat that firmly supported the saddle on its back.

Direhorns are well-known Dragon Beasts of the Dragon Knight family.

They can do all kinds of heavy labor and possess extraordinary strength.

They can also use the three strong horns on their heads to easily pierce enemies.

And most importantly, they are very docile, easy to raise, and extremely loyal.

The Lycoris household actually had two young Direhorns sent as gifts from the Dragon Knight family.

They had been raising them during this period because, generally, the beasts would only obey the Dragon Knight family.

But the good news was that recently they had begun to accept people from the Lycoris family.

And perhaps due to Eiru’s influence, the two young Direhorns were also willing to obey Young Master Naiye.

Naiye climbed the ladder and comfortably sat down on the sofa prepared on the mount.

“Roar…”

The Direhorn let out a cry and then began to move.

No one was riding as a driver; only Young Master Naiye sat on the sofa, issuing no commands.

Yet the beast obediently began to follow orders and move.

It was clear Eren had given the orders beforehand just in case Young Master Naiye did not show up.

The Direhorn would take Young Master Naiye to the destination outside.

The female knight cadets along the road cast envious glances at the huge Direhorn and at Young Master Naiye seated atop it.

After all, sitting up there did feel impressive.

“Young Master Naiye!”

A cat-person with adorable big ears, moving with agile grace, quickly climbed up.

Her long, strong legs landed completely before Young Master Naiye’s eyes.

The Miscellaneous Knight Order information broker, Cat-Ears.

She showed a playful, cute smile and leaned in with her soft, warm body.

Her fluffy big tail wrapped around him as well.

“Young Master Naiye, could you tell me where you’re going to play~”

Although the soft body hugged him, Naiye remained unmoved; he was far more practiced with this kind of thing than most people.

“This intel is very expensive—you can’t afford it.”

“You’re just going out, maybe just to have fun—how could it be this expensive?!”

“Because… the person going out is me, Naiye Lycoris, so it’s that expensive.”

Young Master Naiye answered with a tone both proud and indifferent.

If you thought about it carefully, he wasn’t wrong.

A man going out is different from that man being Naiye Lycoris; they were two completely different grades of information.

Even if Cat-Ears sold the intel at a higher price, someone would still buy it.

That was the value of Young Master Naiye.

Naiye took out a small stack of money and asked for information commensurate with the amount.

“Tell me—has anything been happening with the Dragon Knight family lately, out in the wild?”

Cat-Ears deftly took the money, thought carefully, and then answered.

“In the south, an Investment and Risk Company is mining materials. This time they’ve been reckless and have already encroached on the Dragon Knight family’s territory.”

The Investment and Risk Company was a mining firm made up of goblins and dwarves; they used ruthless capitalist methods to exploit resources.

Although they’d built themselves a huge commercial empire, their behavior was excessive because their methods of extracting natural materials were unrestrained!

To mine, they disregarded the natural environment and ecology, preferring to use machines to forcefully and indiscriminately cut, log, and extract.

They were extremely notorious!

‘So that’s it: Eren’s punishment task this time was to stop the Investment and Risk Company.’

And he was probably required not to take direct action himself but to command from the rear.

This was likely Eren’s first time commanding, but he could recruit others—so this time he directly sought out Young Master Naiye.

“I see, so that’s exactly where I’m headed now.”

“You’re just gonna tell me that, Young Master Naiye?”

Cat-Ears’s crafty eyes rolled around, thinking who knows what.

“I’ll be back soon, won’t your intel be useless by then?”

Cat-Ears shrugged, but Young Master Naiye’s remark was actually quite reasonable.

Young Master Naiye grabbed Cat-Ears’s fluffy tail, stroking it as he chatted with her.

“You seem to like making money—can you tell me why?”

“I’m saving to buy a big house, one with a yard, so I don’t have to squeeze into a tiny room alone and can live freely!”

“Then you could work for me; I can pay you high wages, and the manor has rooms you could live in.”

Faced with Young Master Naiye’s simple yet tempting offer, Cat-Ears calmly declined.

“No, I’d rather save up and buy my own yard; I appreciate your kindness, Young Master.”

Her refusal left Young Master Naiye calm; he had suspected from the start she wasn’t simply greedy.

Cat-Ears’s smile remained playful and cute, but this time tinged with a blush.

She stood up and said goodbye to Young Master Naiye.

“Goodbye, Young Master Naiye, I’ll come play with you again next time.”

Then Cat-Ears’s figure vanished immediately.

This time she seemed to have forgotten to hold back, revealing her own skills so plainly.

When the Direhorn carried Young Master Naiye into the forest outside.

Naiye saw groups of dragon-beasts gathered—these were the unique dragon-beasts of the Dragon Knight family.

There were strong, enduring Direhorns and the ferocious, bloodthirsty Tyranno-beasts.

There were heavily carapaced Armored Dragon Beasts, swift Flying Wyverns that darted through the air, and packs of Swift Raptors.

And at the center up ahead stood only Eren Dragonborn.

This basically confirmed Naiye’s suspicions were correct.

Now Eren really was carrying out a punishment mission.

Young Master Naiye leisurely dismounted and approached Eren.

At a glance he saw a blueprint placed on the wooden table beside them.

The blueprint depicted a device whose function was very simple: it emitted a sort of electric wave.

This wave was designed to repel natural animals, to panic and frighten them, interfering so they wouldn’t dare approach.

Many vessels at sea or in the wild, even sky airships, would use such a device.

“I’m here, tell me your situation.”

Eren glanced at the effortlessly composed Young Master Naiye and knew he had probably guessed his situation.

“I’m being punished by Grandmother and assigned this task; it’s simple—drive out the Investment and Risk Company up ahead.

“They’ve already caused considerable damage to the land, forests, rivers, and nature here!

“Originally I could’ve handled it myself, but Grandmother demands that I not take action—only command.”

The situation matched exactly what Young Master Naiye had thought.

So what problem had Eren encountered, and why had he sought Naiye?

“So what’s the problem you ran into?”

Eren pointed to the device on the blueprint, then gestured to the group of dragon-beasts around them.

“The Investment and Risk Company’s device has been specially modified to specifically affect dragon-beasts. My first command directly failed. So the current problem is to deal with this device and it’s over.

“Grandmother required me to finish it today, so I brought you to solve it.”

“Then, why ask me?”

Young Master Naiye probed Eren with a casual tone, hoping Eren didn’t simply think bringing him here would make the problem that easy to solve.

Although Naiye could indeed handle it easily, he wanted to hear at least a competent reason from Eren.

“Young Master Naiye knows more about this than anyone, and House Lycoris has had dealings with the Investment and Risk Company—they even invited you to become a director of their company, which you of course refused. You know them, so I asked for your help.”

Eren Dragonborn’s reasoning was very solid—even perfect—covering nearly everything that should be said.

He really had learned from experience; now he even had a plan, instead of being foolishly led around by Young Master Naiye before.

He was fully in control of the operation, not acting recklessly, and had planned everything very simply and directly.

Eren had grown up!

Young Master Naiye thought this with satisfaction.

“Alright! I’ll help you, but what’s the payment?”

“Grandmother will look for you—you’re better off asking Grandmother for compensation than me!”

Tsk!

Always finding excuses—actually it was Eiru being deliberate. Whatever, he’d visit her later anyway.

Young Master Naiye clicked his tongue, composed himself, and looked at the earnest Eren.

“Alright, I’ll help you! Young Master Eren—do you have a plan?”

“The plan is simple: you go deal with the device, then the Dragon Knight family’s beasts can wipe them out.”

“Just that simple?”

Young Master Naiye looked into Eren’s eyes.

Eren nodded evenly and firmly.

“Just that simple.”

Young Master Naiye and Eren exchanged a smile.

Sometimes a plan can be this simple—the simpler and more direct, the better; there’s no need for complex moves that only mess things up.

The point is to complete the goal: find the problem, solve it, and finish.

No need to contrive something flashy or perfectly elaborate—that will only make things messier.

The plan is this simple; no need for bells and whistles.

As long as the problem is solved and the goal achieved, it’s a good plan!

Although Young Master Naiye looked puzzled, he actually agreed with Eren’s plan.

From a practical perspective, Eren’s dragon-beast legion was ferocious; their charge was overwhelmingly powerful—only a fool would try to stop them.

Those beasts were even more terrifying and stronger than a herd of wild bulls!

So Eren’s frontal advantage was huge—he even had nine ways to directly take out the enemy head-on.

Thus the opponents had countered by using modified devices to interfere with the dragon-beasts, preventing frontal assaults.

So the objective was obvious: deal with the device and that’s it.

The reason is that simple—any flashy stuff would be a waste.

“Alright! Leave it to me.”

“I’ll be counting on you!”

Eren waved at the slowly departing Young Master Naiye.

After walking just a short distance, Young Master Naiye saw a section of the forest that had been cut away.

It looked like a corner of hair had been cleanly shaved off, remarkably obvious.

Countless stumps remained, stark and conspicuous.

The soil here had turned from lush green grass to an ugly earthy yellow, and in parts had even blackened from pollution!

The nearby river’s color was clearly off as well, no doubt due to pollution.

Sizzle sizzle!

On the other side, several logging mech units were cutting down trees.

These mechs could not only fell trees but also serve as decent combat units.

They were very useful field mechs.

“………..”

Young Master Naiye, from a distance, moved while flicking his fingers in the air a few times.

“What’s going on! Why is there no power?”

The logging mech thus stopped; Naiye had drained its mana power core.

This logging mech was still one of the most basic models.

To Naiye, tearing it down would be easy.

The Investment and Risk Company had technological exchanges with the previous generation of his father; back then his father had been exploring different technologies worldwide, seeking inspiration to create machines for civilian use.

Lycoris’s cooperation with the Investment and Risk Company had stopped there because they were too notorious, so there wasn’t much collaboration.

But one had to admit: they were true experts in digging and mining, and many extraction sites in Lycoris’s territory had been opened with their help.

After Young Master Naiye inherited, they likely eyed his youth and tried to curry favor in order to obtain the Lycoris family’s magical technology.

They even went as far as offering Naiye a direct director position in the company for that purpose.

But Naiye would never be that foolish to join, and he refused outright.

However, they didn’t completely cut ties afterward; though more restrained, they still maintained technological exchanges with House Lycoris.

Even at a high price they would purchase magical technology.

Before long, Naiye arrived at the gate of their base.

Cold steel walls and iron fences enclosed the site, inside which various mechanical facilities and directly extracted materials were piled up.

This was only the result of a short period; although notorious, they were truly skilled in this area, and many wealthy people were willing to hire them to collect resources.

“Stop! Who are you!”

A rough guard immediately blocked Naiye, his round eyes scrutinizing the thin figure and the nice, expensive clothes.

He wasn’t stupid, such an obvious noble arriving here was certainly no ordinary person.

“I…”

“Ah! It’s Young Master Naiye, please come in! Please come in!”

Before Naiye could speak, a small goblin bounced out, baring his teeth and shouting excitedly!

Hurrying to host Young Master Naiye inside, and shooing that guard away.

“You! Move! Move! Don’t block the Young Master’s path!”

“……….”

The guard glanced at Young Master Naiye in surprise, thinking he truly wasn’t someone simple, and quickly left without looking back.

Then Young Master Naiye followed the goblin inside.

At first glance he spotted the modified device!

It was a lightning-rod-like device several meters tall; from its materials one could tell it was definitely not goblin-made.

But its purpose wasn’t to attract—it was to interfere with and drive away dragon-beasts.

Young Master Naiye also saw that it used mana crystals for energy—dealing with it would be far too simple!
