“Alright, stop what you’re doing; today’s task is changed to tidying up the Creation Hall. Don’t fuss over that prosthetic of yours.”
Naiye came to Dr. Emira’s side and watched her focused on the mechanical components.
What drew the most attention about Dr. Emira was her left arm, which had just been hidden behind her black lab coat and therefore couldn’t be seen.
But now that he stood beside her, he discovered that her entire arm was missing.
The mechanical piece she’d been tinkering with was, in fact, that complete mechanical left arm in front of her.
It was a precise, complex mechanical prosthetic.
She had already gone through three prosthetics of this level; Dr. Emira overused them to an extreme, often forgetting maintenance due to work, which caused two to be damaged.
This prosthetic, jet-black with a metallic sheen, was already the third arm Naiye himself had crafted.
Young Master Naiye picked up the mechanical arm, and a magic circle appeared again from his other hand.
But unlike the usual sky-blue magic circles he used when channeling mana, the one he traced this time was blood-red.
Young Master Naiye attached the prosthetic directly, and the blood-red magic circle began to surge.
The prosthetic connected effortlessly, without any rejection or anomaly.
Dr. Emira’s eyes flickered; even she had to admit Naiye Lycoris’s astonishing magical talent.
The Lycoris family hadn’t been a technological clan from the start; like most nobles, they were originally either a knightly family or—magi.
But mere magical talent was too ordinary; like geniuses, there are countless prodigies, yet only those who truly succeed are geniuses.
Most noble knights naturally had their own talents.
The true rise of the Lycoris family was because Young Master Naiye’s grandfather did not rely on magic like everyone else.
Instead, he created magitech—a revolutionary technology.
Even though most people in the Kingdom of Auriel still resisted this strange technology, despite it being essentially based on familiar mana.
The Lycoris family’s domains had already prospered in many ways because of magitech.
Young Master Naiye’s magical talent was the greatest in the family; not to mention, like his grandfather he was more passionate about magitech and had created magical automata unique to his era.
Dr. Emira rotated the left prosthetic; the fingers and arm moved nimbly, with no abnormalities.
“Yes, I’ll tidy up right away.”
No sooner had she responded to Young Master Naiye’s order to tidy up than she was suddenly stopped.
Naiye embraced her striking figure—completely unlike the frail, skinny scientist people usually imagined.
Dr. Emira’s figure was full and mature. She had healthy curves, broad, sturdy shoulders, and plump, rounded hips pressing against her leather pants.
Her attire showed the endurance of someone used to long hours of precise work, and exuded a wholehearted, work-obsessed aura from the inside out.
Emira was a rational, disciplined person; she spent two days a week specifically exercising.
Because her working hours were excessive—at least sixteen hours a day.
It was Naiye who insisted she train; on those two days, the young master would lock the Creation Hall and keep her out.
Although Dr. Emira was physically fit and strong, mentally and with her eyes she still bore dark circles.
Even so, she always carried a calm, composed steadiness, and even now being held by Naiye did not make her uncomfortable.
She only bowed her head slightly—there was none of a little girl’s shyness.
“Don’t go yet; how many did you make during this time?”
“Three hundred and ninety-five.”
“Mm…how many actually worked?”
That question didn’t really need asking; Naiye had just seen the large piles of parts and already knew.
They had all failed.
“One.”
“Hm?”
Dr. Emira set her long, powerful legs apart; under her leather pants, smooth black stockings clung to them.
She released Naiye’s arms and stood firmly on the ground.
As she moved, Young Master Naiye realized she was wearing a comfortable pair of slippers on her feet.
Which meant Emira had actually only been up for at most thirty minutes….
She had worked through the night to produce what Young Master Naiye needed.
Naiye carefully examined the piece Dr. Emira had produced overnight on the workbench.
It was a complete left mechanical arm—it looked like a prosthetic, and its design resembled a knight’s left vambrace.
The whole arm was dark in color, because it used a large amount of dark-veined stone ore in its materials.
A crimson vein ran from the palm up all the way to the shoulder.
But the crimson pattern was dull and lifeless, as if it held no energy.
“Young Master Naiye, what do you think of this?”
Emira called Naiye out of his inspection; behind her black-framed glasses, her eyes finally showed a pleading, hopeful look.
“Thank you. Though incomplete, it’s already very good.”
“Incomplete?”
“I can finish the rest myself, but what’s mainly missing is…the core.”
“………..”
Emira frowned; she understood better than anyone the importance of a magitech core.
The core is the heart that drives magitech; without a heart, no matter how strong your body is, it’s still dead.
But Dr. Emira’s active mind immediately thought of something else:
Young Master Naiye would depart tomorrow; he had come today to arrange all the important matters.
“Young Master, your agreement to return to the Auriel Knight Academy was originally to…”
“Right. I’m going to look for materials that can make a core. Her Majesty the Queen agreed to give me a few items; I want to see if I can use them.”
With a crisp snap.
Naiye gave Emira’s plump posterior a pat, then put the arm away.
“Alright, go to sleep. Tonight Xiao Lu will call you to come eat with us.”
“Yes.”
When Young Master Naiye passed the Creation Hall, he unfolded a huge magic circle.
Immediately, all the piled parts in the hall were cleared away.
A few remnants remained, and Naiye called several Magical Automata over to do the cleaning.
That evening, when Xiao Lu brought his sister to Naiye’s table to eat together,
they were surprised to find tonight’s dinner so sumptuous.
A whole roast chicken, roast fish, large ribs, a feast of greens and cabbages, plus a large platter of fruit salad, honeyed bacon, shredded white carrots, and cheese bread.
Everyone was seated; as usual, Emira, dragged over by her younger brother, was the last to arrive.
Young Master Naiye was reviewing today’s maintenance status when the big white automaton behind Xiao Lu came to its master to report the day’s situation.
When the Dark Elf Cassia placed the final dish—the fresh mushroom soup—in front of Young Master Naiye,
“Dinner!”
Like a whirlwind, after some time everyone finished tonight’s dinner.
They all quietly looked toward Young Master Naiye, ready to follow his final instructions.
