Yuzu senpai is cute.

I was about to step foot into that sanctuary of cuteness that I had previously only been able to admire from across the counter.

“I-Is this really okay?”

“Yeah… come over here.”

Even with the air conditioning running, the only thing I could feel was the heat.

I was only going behind the counter—an area forbidden to anyone except library committee members—yet somehow it felt like I was doing something forbidden.

“T-This way…”

“P-Pardon the intrusion…”

And so, I finally stepped inside.

The library reception counter, right on the other side.

Yuzu senpai sat back down in her chair and beckoned to me. Next to her was another chair.

“…S-Sit down?”

“Eh, but…”

“N-Not okay…?”

I sat down.

I sat down at lightning speed.

If anything, I wanted to ask if there was any reason not to sit down.

“S-Somehow this feels amazing…”

“Y-Yeah…”

A fluffy, purely conversational filler.

Well, can you really blame me?

Sitting next to Yuzu senpai was great and all, but the main reason was that Yuzu senpai herself had turned bright red and dropped her gaze.

“…………”

“…………”

Silence.

What is this mysterious awkwardness?

We were just sitting side by side at the library counter, right next to Yuzu senpai, yet it felt like something was telling us we couldn’t stay like this.

A topic, I needed to find a topic.

I could talk about Yuzu senpai from earlier today… but Ayato had called me a stalker earlier, so maybe not.

Then… talking about a baseball idiot to Yuzu senpai, who hated physical activity, wouldn’t work out.

What about Lemon-chan… no, I didn’t know much about Lemon-chan yet, and our types were polar opposites, so that might be bad.

In that case, talk about myself?

Yeah, absolutely the worst option.

“Well then, I’m sitting down…”

She was going to sit.

She was going to sit down!?

“S-Senpai!?”

Yuzu senpai sat down right on top of my lap.

In the middle of the school library.

“H-H-H-Here!? This is the library, you know!?”

I panicked and started clucking like a chicken.

Naturally, getting sat on in a place where anyone could walk in at any second made me anxious, and Yuzu senpai must have felt just as embarrassed if someone saw us.

Long live the chicken heart.

“J-Just for a little bit…”

I see, so just for a little bit makes it okay… wait, absolutely not in this situation.

Right in front of me was the library entrance, which could open at any second, and to my left stretched the ordinary, mundane scenery of the library. Precisely because it was such an ordinary everyday scene, I couldn’t help suspecting that someone was actually out there.

Above all, the sheer immorality of having Yuzu senpai sitting on my lap in a place like this was overwhelming.

My heart was hammering wildly.

“H-How is it…?”

How is what?

Yuzu senpai looking up at me with upturned eyes was cute.

She was cute, but that wasn’t the main issue right now.

“A-Are you going to be able to endure…?”

“Impossible.”

An instant answer.

I mean, obviously it’s impossible.

I felt like I was about to explode from embarrassment.

What is this, are we having an embarrassment endurance contest?

“Eh!? U-Uuuuu…!”

She was groaning, Yuzu senpai was groaning.

Yet the embarrassment endurance contest refused to end.

Apparently, she wouldn’t let me give up.

“…A-Anything else?”

Her voice was tiny.

But at this distance—or rather, right here on my lap—her cute voice came through loud and clear. It was spot on.

“…Um, what do you mean by ‘anything else’?”

“H-Hhhhhhhh…!”

Even Yuzu senpai started making bird-like noises.

Two people, sitting side by side on the same chair at the library counter after school, feeling embarrassed and imitating birds.

What on earth was going on here.

“W-What else do you… w-want to do to me!?”

Things I want to do to Yuzu senpai!?

What kind of insanely tempting proposal was that!

“…A-Anything is fine!!”

Yuzu senpai’s desperate shout echoed through the quiet library.
