Kakeru Kido, a first-year high school student and former track and field team member who lost the ability to run after injuring his leg in an accident during middle school, had a crush on someone.

She was a senior in the same literary club, one year his senior. She was the smartest girl in their grade and the smallest girl in the entire school; her name was Yuzu Minato.

Kakeru felt indebted to her, but he had also come to like her as a member of the opposite sex—yet he couldn’t bring himself to tell her… It was a one-sided crush.

One day, the literary club lent out some of its chairs to other clubs, leaving them with only one chair remaining.

Kakeru and Yuzu had a light argument over who should take the remaining chair.
Each wanted the other to sit instead of themselves. Out of kindness, neither would give an inch, and as a result, Yuzu got her way, leaving Kakeru to sit alone on the chair.
Kakeru felt bad about being the only one sitting, but then he had a sudden idea.

“Why don’t I—sitting in the chair—become the chair myself, and have Yuzu-senpai sit on my lap?”

…or so he thought.

Naturally, she found the suggestion embarrassing and tried to decline, but thanks to Kakeru’s enthusiasm and thoughtful negotiation, Yuzu-senpai—whom he adored—sat down on his lap.
Seeing her blush at their first physical contact, Kakeru was moved by her cuteness… but he didn’t know.

That she, too, had a crush on Kakeru.
And that, starting from this day on, she would come sit on his lap every day.
