“S-Se-se-se-senpai?! What are you doing?!”

“…Ehehe, ehehehe. Ehehehehe.”

“Senpai?!”

Squeeze!

Squeeze in progress!

Yuzu senpai’s tiny, soft, smooth, warm hands kept squeezing both of mine!

She had a deeply satisfied look on her face!

That kind of Yuzu senpai is cute, too!

Damn it, I panicked and took longer than usual to convey my cuteness appreciation!

To be fair, whenever Yuzu senpai sat on my lap, I always struggled with what to do with my own hands.

And now they were being squeezed… or rather, grabbed.

This completely skipped past the stage where an awkward, newly formed couple wants to hold hands but is too embarrassed, only for their hands to accidentally brush against each other and create a bittersweet atmosphere—this was straight-up hand-snatching!

We were still just senpai and kouhai, not even a couple yet.

That’s why my heart can’t take this!

“Senpai! Senpai?!”

“Ehehehe…”

Squeeze.

A serene smile.

My heart is in a state of emergency!

“Senpaaaaaaaai! Yuzu senpaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaai!!”

“Ehehehe-ah!?”

She snapped out of it! Yuzu senpai jerked in surprise and came back to reality!

Any more of this and my mental state would’ve been in serious danger!

Specifically, I was this close to flipping my hands over—which were just being gripped by the backs—and grabbing hers right back!

I feel like I blurted out Yuzu senpai’s name in the heat of the moment, but it’s an emergency so it’s fine!

“Eh, ah… uh?”

Trembling, and then, squeeze.

Yuzu senpai was shaking. But the squeezing continued unabated.

Something I’ve recently realized is that when Yuzu senpai panics, she freezes up right there.

Even if her face turns bright red all the way to the tips of her ears, she has this habit of not stopping whatever motion she was in right before.

It’s like thinking has stopped, but the action keeps running.

It’s similar to how people freeze up from a car horn even though they need to get out of the way because they’re about to get run over.

“…W-W-Wait, that’s not it!?”

The squeezing continues.

“T-T-This is just necessary for you to become a proper chair!”

What even is a proper chair?

“S-See! High chairs have armrests, right?! I was thinking it’d be nice if you had those too! It’s definitely! Definitely not for any weird reasons!”

She was talking at a million miles an hour, but the squeezing didn’t stop.

That aside, it seems I need to evolve into an armrest chair.

“S-So, look!”

“Eh, wait, se…!?”

Yank.

She pulled me with a strong tug.

Well, it wasn’t actually all that strong, but there’s no way I could resist a wonderful situation like a surprise move where Yuzu senpai pulls me in!

Uh, to report… from the results.

“…Ah.”

“…Ah.”

Our voices overlapped.

Our faces were close enough that they almost touched.

Pulled in by Yuzu senpai, I evolved into a proper armrest chair.

My hands successfully landed on the desk in front of us, of course still being held by Yuzu senpai.

Yuzu senpai was sitting on my lap.

And she was inside my arms.

Yuzu senpai was right inside the circle of my outstretched arms!

On top of that, the desk in front made it impossible for her to escape!

Plus, being pulled in made my own posture lean forward, so it was almost like I was hugging Yuzu senpai from behind—or rather, we were completely pressed together, and I could feel Yuzu senpai from literally every possible angle, which made me feel kind of creepy, me!

“K-Kido-kun…”

“S-Senpai…”

Gazing before me were eyes filled with heat and glistening moisture.

This wasn’t the face full of expectations, self-love, and affection for stories and characters that she had while reading, nor was it the mischievous smile she flashed at casual times, nor the smug expression she often wore when teasing me, nor the fierce face of desperately holding back tears welling up in her eyes at the depths of despair—it was a completely new side of Yuzu senpai.

My chest hammered out a beat.

It was completely, utterly different from yesterday’s pounding heart.
