Inside the mirror.
Bai Chonglou stared at the Grand Elder that had disappeared in the long river of spacetime and felt conflicted inside.
He then looked toward Gu Changqing. That face was sinister and gloomy, filled with nothing but murderous intent.
His daughter had died for this man. As her father, how could he remain passive?
His eyes were spewing with endless hatred.
Their eyes met but they did not say anything.
Gu Changqing merely quietly bowed toward Bai Chonglou.
That bow was not meant for Bai Chonglou.
It was for Bai Qing’er.
After all, that silly girl had died for his sake.
Gu Changqing tore through the void and returned to the mountain peak.
Her body was still lying there.
Her body was icy cold, her chest no longer moved up and down, her eyes as bright as gemstones were wide open but did not shine with life.
Images of her liveliness flashed vividly in his mind, but now, she was nothing more than a cold corpse.
“Qing’er…”
Bai Chonglou murmured softly as he stood in the skies.
But he did not hear any familiar response.
His lips trembled, his eyes were bloodshot.
Hatred almost drove him over the edge. His voice was choked and his gaze was sorrowful.
He had lived an entire life of loneliness and suffering. In his childhood, he was bullied. Even after he finally became the sect leader, he was controlled by the Grand Elder.
So, he hid his potential growth in cultivation and tolerated this awful life for years.
And now, he had become Great Emperor, an invincible creature in this universe, able to sweep through great enemies with little effort!
But alas, he could not even save the life of his most beloved daughter.
The tremendous pain in his heart was too difficult to describe in words.
…
Gu Changqing was sorrowful as he quietly embraced the cold body in his arms.
His heart was overflowing with sadness and regret.
He could still hear this tsundere princess’s voice and see her smile, but she would never wake up again. Her body was cold, void of any warmth.
He hugged her tightly.
Everything that happened in the past played back in his mind.
This woman had done everything for nothing more than the word ‘love’, yet she never heard him express any of that to her until the moment she died.
In fact, right from the start, he had barely interacted with her.
She had gone all out without holding back.
But he had sealed his heart and shut her out.
And now, by the time he realized that this woman had barged into his heart a long time ago, everything was already too late.
A light rain fell from the sky. The world was silent.
Two men stared at the same corpse, feeling nothing but sadness and regret.
“Come!”
All of a sudden, Gu Changqing let out a great shout.
A wave of terrifying, boundless might flowed from his body, drowning the seas and lands.
The terrifying long river of spacetime was broken.
Gu Changqing used his Quasi-Emperor dao fruit to forcibly summon the illusion of reincarnation.
Since he had managed to do it in the past, this time, he could do it too.
Kaboom…
The extremely terrifying six paths of reincarnation appeared in the void. The six gates that controlled the fates of all living beings and their souls was like a millstone that rotated slowly in the sky.
“Open!”
Gu Changqing’s expression was fierce as he used his imperial blood to connect to the great way of heaven and earth to forcibly open the six gates and take on endless karma.
“It’s useless…”
Bai Chonglou murmured with pain in his voice. He stared at the younger man, his gaze conflicted, “Qing’er has already burned up her soul and spirit, so she has no more strength left to return to heaven.”
Gu Changqing didn’t seem to have heard him.
He continuously spewed blood as he continued flipping through the six gates.
The terrifying amount of karma pressed so hard on him that it was hard to breathe. His body was covered in wounds.
But no matter how hard he tried to search, there was no sign of that soul among the six paths of reincarnation that controlled the life and death of all creatures.
“Pfft!”
Gu Changqing spat out fresh blood, his aura waning as despair filled his heart.
“Why did things have to turn out like this…why did it turn out like this…”
He looked like he had lost his mind, as though he was possessed.
This was the first time Bai Chonglou had seen this man lose control of himself like this.
Even when he had been trapped in that cave and Bai Chonglou told him that he knew all about his past, this man did not show even the smallest bit of emotion.
But now, he was like a child who had just lost his parents.
“Ahh…”
Gu Changqing roared like an old beast, his voice full of grief, full of despair.
He had enough might to tear through the sky and shake the seas. Nothing could stop him.
But he was helpless when it came to death.
His beloved was gone. Her soul and spirit was destroyed so she couldn’t return to heaven.
Gu Changqing’s heart was dark and he couldn’t utter a single word.
“Brother Changqing…”
In the midst of this, a familiar tinkling voice seemed to resound in his ears.
“That’s right. She still has a remnant of her lifesoul inside my body. As long as her lifesoul lives, there must be a way that exists to bring her back to life!”
Gu Changqing’s eyes lit up like he had found a ray of hope.
Bai Chonglou straightened up too as his eyes shone again. “That’s right, that’s right! As long as her lifesoul is still around, there must be a way to bring Qing’er back to life.”
He stretched his arms out as if he wished to take Qing’er away.
But Gu Changqing refused, “Qing’er died because of me. I must do everything I can to find a way to bring her back to life.”
He did not stay any longer. He flew into the void and slowly disappeared out of sight.
Bai Chonglou remained in the same place for a long time but didn’t chase after him in the end.
“Yes, I’ve got to look for a way too. I’ve got to find one, I’ve got to find one…”
Bai Chonglou murmured to himself as he tore open the void and disappeared in the blink of an eye.
…
Outside the mirror.
Bai Qing’er was almost moved to tears.
“So that’s what happened, so that’s what happened…”
Her gaze was filled with satisfaction, as though she had become the happiest woman in the world at this moment.
Even her aura slowly grew gentler. The sinister, murderous aura that belonged to this unorthodox empress had weakened considerably in this moment.
Bai Qing’er thought.
That after she died, Gu Changqing became Great Emperor and was able to defeat and subdue great enemies himself, and he never thought about her ever again.
But now, she finally knew.
It turned out that because of her, he did not reach Great Emperor at that time.
He had gone down the unorthodox path with one thought and did not abandon her. Instead, in order to resurrect her, he actually went all over the place to search for a way.
“So, he had done so much for me before.”
Bai Qing’er murmured to herself, her gaze full of gentleness.
She finally stopped being envious of those women. It turned out that her position in this man’s heart had never been less than them.
…
Inside the mirror.
Within that impossibly dangerous and risky Forbidden Zone, a man carried a woman and moved along slowly.
His face was covered in facial hair and his gaze was rugged.
He had gone through many dangers while traversing the various sections of the Forbidden Zone in order to search for ancient fallen bronze.
After he gathered them, he made a bronze ancient coffin out of them and placed the woman in his arms inside the coffin.
Just like that, inside the treacherous Forbidden Zone of Beixuan Continent, existed a man who carried a coffin on his back.
