Outside the mirror.
At that moment, countless cultivators were cursing and swearing.
“This old fellow is really asking for way too much! He wants three parts of a cultivator’s heart’s refined blood!”
“If you ask me, this old man is just bluffing. There’s no way to revive the dead. And even if there is, why would someone like him know?”
“I agree, I agree. But I don’t think the Heavenly Emperor would agree to this. We’re talking about three parts of refined blood! And nobody knows if this old man’s information is true or not. The Heavenly Emperor is not a fool.”
“If you ask me, the Heavenly Emperor should just turn around and threaten him instead. This old thing is left with nothing but a remnant of his soul yet he still managed to barely live on for millennia. Someone like that definitely treasures his life dearly, so if his life is threatened, I’m certain he will spill the beans.”
Someone argued back, “But cultivators at such a stage are usually very concerned with face and pride. If you really push him, he might choose to die rather than say anything.”
“Besides, he’s going to disappear really soon. The Heavenly Emperor’s refined blood is his last hope. Without getting that hope, he wouldn’t say anything. Do you think someone at this level would be so foolish?”
The cultivators argued among themselves.
But in the next moment, all their expressions suddenly froze.
They watched as Gu Changqing acted without much hesitation.
He immediately squeezed out a few drops of his heart’s refined blood.
That blood was a purple color with divine runes flowing in it as a terrifying might began to fill its surroundings. It spun slowly in that void and the terrifying aura pressed so hard on the space that it began to shatter.
Outside the mirror, all the cultivators felt their pupils constrict.
“The Heavenly Emperor actually went ahead with the exchange…”
“For the sake of just that tiny bit of hope that nobody knows if it’ll work?”
Everyone was in disbelief. They couldn’t believe what just happened.
Bai Su’s gaze flickered as she turned to look at Bai Qing’er.
Her gaze carried a tinge of envy.
After regaining the memories of her past, she thought that her position in Gu Changqing’s heart was the highest.
But to her surprise, this woman named Bai Qing’er actually had a spot that was no lower than hers.
After that, her gaze dimmed.
Compared to how this woman had gone all out for Gu Changqing, she did indeed pale in comparison.
They both had blood feuds concerning their parents, and it seemed like this Bai Qing’er carried an even heavier feud on her shoulders.
But as for herself, she was still unable to go all out and give her all to the Heavenly Emperor like Bai Qing’er.
…
Inside the mirror.
The old man clearly had not thought that this man who had carried this bronze coffin through many perilous forbidden zones and immortal grounds to make a decision so quickly.
In his mind, he thought that after he laid this condition, the young man would definitely turn around and threaten him.
To his surprise, this man actually made a decision without hesitation.
The old man collected the blood, then glanced at Gu Changqing with a complex look in his eyes. “Since you trust me so much, I will certainly not lie to you.”
“Have you heard of the witch clan before?”
The old man asked that question, then said in a low voice, “Along the southern border, among the 100,000 mile mountains hides a tribe. They call themselves the witch clan.”
“The witch clan lives in that mountain range.”
“I journeyed through that place before when I was younger. I’d seen with my own eyes how the clan leader of the witch clan had gathered someone’s spirit and soul, then brought them back from the dead!”
“In this word, bringing someone back from the dead is an act that defies heaven and it’s never been done before. That’s why it left such a deep impression on me.”
Gu Changqing’s face was pale. When he heard what the old man said, he straightened up. “Thank you.”
He just said those two words, then tore through the void and left.
Behind him, faced with the man who had just given up three parts of his refined blood and even thanked him before leaving.
The old man had a conflicted look on his face as he stood there for a long time without moving.
…
At the 100,000 mile mountains.
Gu Changqing continued moving forward regardless of the obstacles he ran into.
In front of him was an endless sea of dense forests.
The trees grew close together, the plants were scarily large and a thick, poisonous miasma wafted in the air. There were probably countless venomous bugs and beasts hiding.
He had no idea how long he had been travelling through the forest.
Gu Changqing’s eyes finally lit up. A huge tribal area appeared before him.
…
Outside the mirror.
The cultivators stared at where Gu Changqing had arrived, their gazes flickering.
A cultivator spoke up, “I’ve heard of the witch clan before.”“This is an extremely small clan in the Beixuan Continent.”
“Legend has it that a terrifying being is sealed within that huge mountain range. They call the being the Witch God.”
“The Witch God is a terrifying being from ancient times and incredibly vicious. If it is unsealed, it would definitely cause the deaths of creatures within tens of thousands of miles. All living creatures would become its puppets.”
“The witch clan cultivators rely on absorbing the power that emanates from the Witch God to strengthen their bodies. And their destiny to keep the Witch God sealed forever.”
As they listened to the cultivator speak, everyone had a glint in their eye.
The cultivators of this world were creatures that could be strong enough to burn up mountains and boil seas, powerful enough to fizzle out countless stars and galaxies with one finger. But when it came to living forever or coming back from the dead, those were limits they could not overcome.
Even someone as powerful as a Great Emperor could not escape death.
And when it came to a secret technique to revive the dead, it was certainly something that all cultivators would be excited to learn about and keep for themselves.
…
Gu Changqing stood on high ground and looked out. The mountain he was on was like a gigantic city wall that went on and on for thousands of miles, cordoning the entire region in front of him.
The clouds wafted between the clouds, giving off a primordial aura.
Where he was looking at was a vast plain.
The rivers flowed plentifully and the fields were divided into small squares. Different produce reflected different colors and they came together to form a beautiful oil painting of sorts.
In between the fields and the pavements, people as small as ants were busy working. They were either casting nets, pulling in fish or working the fields.
Wooden and mud huts littered the space between the mountain and the fields like stars in the sky, some forming small clusters, others forming larger clusters of residential areas.
The scenery was beautiful, as though it was a giant village that was cut off from the world.
Gu Changqing steadied the coffin on his back.
And stepped into this place.
