“We respectfully send our revered teacher off!”

Some of the human cultivators who had come together with Gu Changqing to the mountain shouted loudly from behind him.

Their voices reached the skies and divided the clouds.

“It has been a hard journey for all of you. You are dismissed.”

Gu Changqing waved farewell to this group that had called him their teacher.

Then, he walked toward the steps.

The entirety of Shouyang Mountain was covered by such steps that reached into the high clouds, as though this mountain stood shoulder to shoulder with the skies.

The steps were old and not grand, made from millions of rock fragments and subject to all elements. Each step’s surface was extremely uneven.

Gu Changqing took it slow, step by step.

He was practically strolling like this was just his backyard.

His footsteps made the countless ancient beings of Beixuan Continent watching feel their eyes and mouth gape in shock!

…

“How could this be?!”

Outside the mirror.

Everyone just stared at the man in white with sheer shock on their faces.

Their eyes and mouths were opened and their gazes were filled with nothing but shock.

Just like what Jiang Minghuang had said, Shouyang Mountain was the ancestral grounds of the human race and had accumulated the countless will of humans. Even a Great Emperor would have trouble climbing this mysterious mountain.

Yet, despite having a mortal body, Gu Changqing was able to climb it like it was merely a walk in the park?!

Everyone was flabbergasted.

They simply couldn’t understand!

They could only exclaim from deep in their hearts, the words that they had said many, many times before: this guy wasn’t human at all!!!

Ye Chen too, stared in shock at the man in white inside the mirror.

His mouth was wide open, just like the other cultivators with him.

In that moment, this man supposedly blessed by the gods, felt like his heart was getting trampled upon.

Trampled so hard that his whole heart was thrown into pure chaos!

“Gu Changqing, I’ll wait to see how long you can look saintly for in front of everyone!”

…

Gu Changing continued his slow journey up the ancient steps.

With each step he took, his understanding of human dao grew a little clearer in his heart.

Strange weather phenomenon filled the skies above him.

Countless human ancestors seemed to have awakened from their slumber. Several enormous figures began to spew terrifying aura onto the mortal realm.

The brilliant rays shone down and landed on Gu Changqing, covering him in that wonderful light.

Somewhere faraway, it seemed like the voices of the human race ancestors were breaking into song.

Mysterious, ancient tiny, tiny words began falling in little pieces from the sky. It was as though the long history of human dao had turned into scenes that flashed before Gu Changqing’s eyes.

As countless humans and ancient cultivators watched on.

Gu Changqing’s body disappeared into the clouds and arrived at the peak of this mountain.

In that moment, both those inside and outside the mirror couldn’t help but gasp.

…

The peak of the mountain wasn’t as vast or glorious as the fairy dwelling everyone had imagined.

It was very plain, actually.

The human race ancestral temple was actually just a pile of stones stacked together.

It had been subject to weathering by the wind and rain over thousands of years.

The ancient ancestral temple had lost its color and looked like it could collapse anytime.

But even though it looked like a dilapidated and abandoned temple, it spewed an incredibly valiant will.

Boom!

Suddenly, the doors of this mysterious temple suddenly burst open.

A gigantic golden dragon came roaring out.

This was a huge, ancient dragon with nine claws. Its scales were beyond divine and an aura of blessing emanated from the dragon itself.

ROAR!

The giant dragon let out a long roar to reveal its emotions.

But nobody could understand its emotions.

It went round and round Gu Changqing, and after making several rounds, it suddenly headed for Gu Changqing.

…

Outside the mirror.

The cultivators stared in bewilderment at the ancient dragon, their gazes in awe.

“I didn’t know the human race had such terrifying qi!”

“Anywhere there’s a qi dragon is sacred ground. It wouldn’t allow anybody to sully its grounds! This dragon is going to tear the Heavenly Emperor to pieces! What’s he doing?! Why isn’t he dodging?!”

Everyone stared in absolute horror at the unmoving Heavenly Emperor.

“Could he be too frightened to move?”

That was the first thought that came to mind.

But in the next moment, an unbelievable scene appeared before their very eyes.

…

The qi golden dragon surrounded Gu Changqing.

Its gigantic head nuzzled this mortal body again and again, its dragon eyes filled with qi looked extremely excited.

“This…”

Everyone was dumbfounded.

This truly shocked them to the core.

Qi golden dragons were the gathering of certain dao laws and were not sentient.

In most cases, such dragons would not come close to anybody. Anyone who dared to trespass its territory would be crushed by immense qi!

Unless that person was its master.

It would be like the ruler of the demon race and a demon qi golden dragon.

But Gu Changqing was merely one member of the human race. Why did the dragon fail to crush him and even seem so attached to him?

Nobody could understand. Everyone was just in shock.

…

A few moments later, the golden dragon returned to the temple.

The cultivators outside the mirror stared hard at the temple that had its doors wide open. Their gazes were burning.

After all, this mysterious temple had stood atop the peak of myriad paths. Anyone close to Great Emperor realm would be beside themselves with excitement.

“I suppose the Heavenly Emperor must have gotten lots of good stuff from this mysterious ancient temple!”

Everyone looked rather excited.

Even though they knew that they could only see from outside the mirror, they still wanted to know what treasures this temple held inside.

But.

They watched as Gu Changqing merely threw the temple a glance, then waved his arms to shut the gates of the temple!

The Heavenly Emperor didn’t go into the temple??!

The cultivators were taken aback, disappointed, and terribly confused.

They were disappointed that they didn’t get to see the inside of the temple.

They were confused because they couldn’t understand why Gu Changqing would have turned down the chance to enter the temple. The fact that this place could become the human race ancestral temple meant that it carried very mysterious, powerful things inside.

It might even carry a treasure that could take a person up the next thousand steps in their cultivation journey!

Nobody expected the Heavenly Emperor to turn down such a tempting offer.
