As for the wedding, from here on it becomes the work of the royal palace chefs.
Big Brother, Aoi-san, and I have already taught them the Japanese dishes and sweets, so from here on we are leaving it to them.
The chefs and pâtissiers were repeatedly moved, saying, “So this is the cuisine of the rare visitors’ country that the founding king longed for so dearly.”
The founding king was an amazing person, but unlike Big Brother, he came here with only his own body and had a hard time, so apparently he was not able to recreate much Japanese food very easily.
The founding king used to cook for his little sister, so unlike Big Brother, he was said to be good at cooking.
The legend in the founding myth says that he won over the first queen by capturing her stomach.
Watching Big Brother, I somehow feel like that really might be true.
“It is said that even now, the founding king’s original dishes are still passed down,” is what Mari-san, who was made by the founding king, told me.
When I first heard that this person was not human, I was very surprised.
But compared to the villains who ruled Adros, I think people like her are what true humans really ought to be.
She is always lifting up children and lovingly doting on them, and she often picks up children who have no parents.
It makes me think of what kind of person the founding king must have been, the one who made her.
And they say her model was the founding king’s younger sister.
The ones coming with me from the wedding reception hall are Her Highness the second princess Sylvester-sama, who is thirteen, and her lady’s maid, Miranda-sama, daughter of Viscount Yubenharg, also thirteen.
Then there is the ten-year-old third princess Hamil-sama, and her lady’s maid, the eleven-year-old daughter of Baron Beriam, Mirey-sama.
And after them, Lady Velvet, daughter of Duke Anion, who is twelve, and her companion Genuine, called Jenny for short.
This Jenny is not a noble child, and apparently is with the ducal house because of some very complicated circumstances, and she is an amusing girl who immediately starts going “awawawa,” and she is now nine years old.
There are also young ladies such as a marquis’s daughter and a count’s daughter with us.
Apparently while children are still young, differences in status are not considered all that much in this country.
So even if a girl like Jenny or I am here, it does not seem to be that much of a problem.
Really, I should be addressing the princesses properly with “Your Highness” and honorifics, but they told me to stop because it was too stiff.
The eldest princess is Merine-sama, and she is now fifteen.
She is utterly smitten with Prince Sid of the Kingdom of Hyde, her fiancé.
Since she was finally able to meet her beloved after so long, it seems she cannot be bothered with a bunch of brats, so she is not here.
Today, even Her Majesty the Queen is not here, of course.
Because she is currently engaged in official duties.
Though when she was leaving, she did keep glancing this way.
His Highness Emilio does not seem to come to gatherings like this, because if Big Brother is around, he gets completely absorbed in him instead.
Or perhaps he is holding back because it is all girls here.
His Highness Emilio, who is extremely popular among the people, is so cute that if he lets his guard down, he gets turned into his sisters’ dress-up doll, so he may be staying wary of that.
And since he is a boy, he loves hearing about Big Brother’s adventures.
His Highness Emilio also seems very attached to Big Brother, since Big Brother helped him in so many ways.
And Big Brother seems to dote on him quite a lot too.
All of the princes have blond hair like the queen.
All of the princesses have silver hair like the king.
It is a splendid matching set.
The queen is also an incredibly beautiful person, and she does not look at all like someone who has borne six children.
The princesses too resemble the queen and are dazzlingly beautiful.
Their beauty is enough to make even a girl stare in fascination.
The queen is very young and beautiful, but when I heard her true age, I was utterly shocked.
There is no way that lady is human.
I wonder if she is an elf or something.
Apparently she used to be the daughter of a duke from our kingdom’s brother nation.
Today’s presentation is karumera-yaki.
The ingredients are simple, so the method is easy too… but it may be the kind of cooking least suited to Big Brother.
How should I put it… it is completely artisan work.
After trying over and over and clutching at his head in frustration, Big Brother gave up on mastering karumera-yaki.
Then he said he was leaving the rest to me, and left behind the ingredients, a full set of tools, and something called a tablet terminal that had things called online videos loaded into it.
I practiced while watching that, and at last Eri secured her position as a true master of karumera-yaki.
Big Brother Al, being human takes patience.
Everyone’s eyes are fixed on the karumera-yaki as it puffs up with a poof.
I have also changed into an outfit that really looks like that of a karumera-yaki vendor.
Of course, that too was prepared by Big Brother.
Big Brother is strangely particular about things like setting the scene properly in situations like this.
Also, since there are some people in the group who are seeing my sweets presentation for the first time, I also put on a splendid demonstration of cotton candy.
This too was a presentation of colored cotton candy made using colored candy as the raw material, something Big Brother improved and made for me.
Then I also presented the illustrated plastic bags used for putting cotton candy in as souvenirs.
These are something he told me to warn people never to throw away carelessly.
Apparently that sort of thing is the most hated behavior of all in the rare visitors’ country.
After that, though they were pre-made, I also served various kinds of doughnuts in different shapes, filled with cream or chocolate and decorated with things like colored sugar chips.
When I asked Big Brother, “Aren’t these not even doughnuts anymore?” he said that in the specialty doughnut shops in the rare visitors’ country, there are shops that sell things like these too.
Hmm, it really is deep.
But according to Big Brother, this is still nowhere near the true essence of food in Japan.
I am very much looking forward to what comes next.
The drinks too are fizzy sparkling juice made by adding premium fruit juice to carbonated water.
At first I was not used to it, but now I think it is very delicious.
Big Brother has also let me drink Japanese juice.
Every one of them is amazingly delicious.
Jenny is drinking hers while going awawa.
Yes, well, it certainly is bubbly-bubbly.
This is probably something too much for small children.
For the children at our place, it might still be a little too soon.
We are all sitting together noisily on the huge aluminum-laminated mats and the leisure sheets with cute pictures on them that Big Brother gave us.
Even words like aluminum lamination, which apparently refers to advanced technology that does not exist in this world, I somehow ended up learning naturally through talking with Big Brother.
Jenny is biting into her cotton candy and getting her mouth all sticky, and from time to time Lady Velvet wipes it for her.
Hmm, is it really all right for a lady’s maid to be like that?
In her case, to be honest, it is not even clear whether she really is a lady’s maid, but since no one else came along with Lady Velvet, I suppose I’ll just classify her as “lady’s maid (tentative)?”
The other young ladies are elegantly licking theirs off, in a sort of dainty lick-lick way.
Even at the food court, nobles eat ramen and soba in an elegant manner.
But Big Brother Al eats ramen while slurping it up like zzzzzz.
And he said, “You all just don’t get it. Noodles are delicious because you eat them like this.”
He was even complaining about the founding king, saying, “That guy Takeshi too, if he was Japanese, he ought to at least have made ramen.”
Even though he cannot make it properly himself and went so far as to make something like a ramen laboratory, I did think, honestly, listen to yourself.
Even that only works because Big Brother brought in the ingredients, and because he can look up how to make things through something called the net.
Besides, the founding king was busy with the work of building a country.
Still, I am grateful because thanks to Big Brother, I get to eat all kinds of delicious things.
Probably the people of this city and the royal capital are grateful too.
