Swoooooosh―!!
Wind swept through the hall. At one moment it felt like a gentle caress, and the next it cooled like a gale running between trees in a forest.
Like the sound of branches and leaves brushing, the wind carried a soft rhythm as it struck things.
In the vast hall with not a single tree, the sounds of trees colliding and a forest’s song could be heard. The sound of the wind shifted moment by moment, beginning a single song.
All the Rebound members who watched the process from the start were so overwhelmed by the mysterious sight that none could even open their mouths; they breathed cautiously.
How much time passed as they were crushed by that strange and mystical atmosphere?
The body that had fluttered up into the air sank down. The member who floated lightly to the floor, flute in both hands, was Shumix.
“Haa…”
Shumix opened the eyes she had closed with a single excited breath. Light flashed in her eyes and then vanished.
“Captain!”
“Why?”
“This is, really… really, really!! I love you!”
“That’s enough.”
Kim Han, nonchalant, blocked Shumix’s forehead like some of the other members who had rushed him. He raised two fingers and flicked Shumix’s forehead.
Given Kim Han’s strength, one would expect Shumix to be thrown backward. But then.
Whoosh!
Pop―!
A sound like a whistle was heard, and Shumix vanished like a candle snuffed out from its place—like Lee Hyo-ju. She then appeared behind Kim Han and embraced him.
“…Huh?”
A few members jumped to their feet. No one was unshaken, even if they didn’t stand completely—after all, getting behind Kim Han might mean they could land a hit on the monster Kim Han.
“Gosh, I nearly died trying to get one hug.”
Everyone was shocked. But not as much as Kim Han and Shumix themselves.
Kim Han, invisible to others but awkwardly positioned behind him, couldn’t hide his bewilderment at the message that had appeared before his eyes.
But in the meantime, Shumix had used some technique to get behind Kim Han.
To the members in front it looked like Shumix was hugging Kim Han, but in fact a devouring fang was held to the nape of the Shumix who hugged him, and a thin barrier of divine power surrounded Kim Han’s body.
On top of that, ‘Suho’ also moved, making Kim Han’s neck gleam with silver.
“You, if you use that carelessly it’ll be really bad. I almost had my sword come out without meaning to.”
“Yes, I’m sorry. I felt so good… I made a mistake.”
Shumix apologized to Kim Han with a calm expression, but in truth she was doing her best to hide how her legs were shaking like mad.
The dense killing intent that had been felt when she approached behind Kim Han.
A sharp aura that made every hair on the body stand on end.
And even a strange energy that made one think they might actually die.
She forced a smile and barely returned to her seat, plopping down into her chair. Then she turned her gaze into the air to check the message that had appeared.
A string of messages listed one after another. Shumix blamed herself for getting into this situation because of a silly prank.
They’re representatives. People who lay down their lives. Of course, if you approach from behind, especially using a debuff while doing so, defense mechanisms will trigger unconsciously.
“Ugh…”
“Here.”
The one who handed a purple vial to Shumix was Mae Young-ryeong. She offered the potion to Shumix with an expressionless face.
‘A low-grade Sanitas potion.’ A status ailment recovery potion that only Kim Han can make.
“Thank you.”
After saying thank you and gulping down the potion, her trembling legs finally began to calm.
Just as she began to settle, Mae Young-ryeong’s voice flowed out.
“That was reckless. If it had been me or some other member instead of Kim Han, either you or the other member might have died. If the throat’s been cut, even I can’t save them. Unless it’s Jjul.”
“That’s… true. I’m sorry.”
Mae Young-ryeong’s comment that only Jjul could save them referred to the undead. Shumix, having fully understood that, bowed her head and apologized.
“You don’t have to apologize to me. Kim Han was probably more startled than anyone. By the way, have you gotten a lot stronger?”
“Huh? Ah, yes!”
“Alright. The stronger you are, the more Kim Han’s burden will lessen. Thank you, and congratulations.”
Mae Young-ryeong muttered something inscrutable and left.
After that, the search for the owners of weapons continued after Shumix.
Was it the mood? Normally, they should ask for an appraisal scroll to confirm the newly changed item stats, but the timing to say that slipped away.
As the time she fidgeted increased, she only grew more curious about the performance of the jade flute that glowed on its own, which she hadn’t confirmed.
While Shumix stomped her feet impatiently, the process of deciding the owner of a spear began.
A spear whose function alone stunned everyone.
In terms of destruction or mass slaughter, there is no weapon like it. In some aspects it even seemed to surpass the devouring fang.
Warrior-type members took turns trying. But none could hold it for five seconds. Most of them dropped the spear as soon as they grabbed it.
Watching that absentmindedly, Kim Han turned his gaze to one member.
Hippoly, chatting with other members nearby, caught sight of Kim Han and made eye contact as if she felt his gaze.
Kim Han nodded toward the spear with his chin. Hippoly shook her head side to side.
Kim Han once more nodded toward the spear, and Hippoly shook her head again.
As other members one by one noticed and looked between the two, Hippoly, as if she had no choice, puffed up her cheeks and stepped forward.
“Captain! My weapon is a halberd, you know? It’s not some weak spear like this!”
“…A weak spear?”
Hppoly’s cute tone filled the Rebound members’ faces with shock, like when Kim Han looks at Naruan. Had Hippoly actually checked the appraisal for this spear?
“Did you read the appraisal?”
“Yes! Of course!”
“But… did it say ‘weak spear’?”
“Well, I admit some extra functions are nice, but in the end this is a spear. My weapon is a halberd. Spears are weak; halberds are strong. Don’t you know that? In my village even kids know that.”
“…Ugh. Haven’t you considered that place might be abnormal?”
“Captain, are you dissing my village right now?”
Was the conversation absurd even to the weapon? ‘Trunco’ began to change shape slowly.
The blades on both sides vanished and one blade widened and grew. As if… into a halberd.
“W-wow! It’s a halberd!!”
A halberd emitting green light. Could it be that this ancient weapon, Trunco, which once heralded destruction, changed shape to belong to Hippoly?
Snap!
There was no one to stop her. Hippoly grabbed the Trunco that had become a halberd. Then the reason this odd weapon turned into a halberd was revealed.
Flare―!
Trunco spat green smoke and, unlike before, resisted strongly. Other members would have let go by now, but Hippoly smiled and kept her teeth clenched as if doing ventriloquism, speaking to Kim Han.
“See, I told you halberds are strong, right? I was right, wasn’t I?”
Hippoly smiled oddly satisfied and refused to let go.
So does that green flame cause no harm now?
No. Hippoly’s right hand had all its flesh melted away, exposing pale bone.
Tears streamed from Hippoly’s eyes and black blood gurgled from her mouth, yet she did not release Trunco.
“Hipoli! Let go! I said let go!”
Mae Young-ryeong rushed up to Hippoly, shouting and pouring healing magic on her. But the rate at which her wounds worsened was faster than the healing.
“Hippoly!! Kim Han!”
“Tsk. Hippoly, aren’t you going to let go?”
At Kim Han’s quiet question, Hippoly nodded slowly while weeping helplessly.
Her appearance was so forlorn that the playful demeanor she had a moment ago was nowhere to be seen.
“Tsk. Stop it.”
Kim Han placed his fingers on the halberd’s blade and, as if giving an order, infused it with divine power.
Then Trunco shivered as if understanding the words, showed displeasure for a moment, and then quieted.
“Haa…!”
Hipoli stared into the air and exhaled a sigh like burnt vocal cords. Even as she collapsed to the floor, she did not release Trunco from her hand.
Did someone find Hippoly admirable? Green energy flowed from Trunco and enveloped Hippoly.
Then, as if by magic, her body healed and new flesh sprouted—faster than Mae Young-ryeong’s healing.
Whether the Rebound members were astonished or not, the changes in Hippoly’s body continued.
Now what remained were a rough necklace and two swords.
The moment Kim Han picked up one of the swords.
“Wait. Rejected.”
Hazel, who had not spoken a single word until now, uttered for the first time a line that tried to dissuade Kim Han.
“Service? Did you just say service?”
“Indeed. It’s Amor, who claims to be my daughter.”
Amor wore fury across her face. She felt insulted.
It wasn’t even a fair transaction. She had come to dispute something, and there she was being made to pay an ‘unjust’ price. And then they called it a service!
“A service!”
“Don’t like it? Hmm… Then should I reconsider my earlier offer to give you anything? No, that would be unbecoming of a Creator. Then shall I take issue with you for daring to direct killing intent at me? Yes, would that be better? What do you think, Spatium?”
“…Because she was disrespectful to the Creator, it’s entirely appropriate to behead her. Killing intent, indeed.”
The goddess—or rather, the bully—gathered energy as if she could separate Amor’s head from her body at any moment.
“What do you think?”
The deity the Creator looked to was the super newly-born god, Ludicer, who had just displayed his presence before all the gods.
“Rather than a ‘sex service’ as it’s been called, it seems appropriate to separately exact recompense for revealing killing intent to the Creator, and to accept payment for letting the ‘service’ slide.”
Shock filled the gods’ faces.
He’s a newly born god. Even if he’s strong, it’s only been about a hundred years. Among the high—no, even mid-level gods—there are plenty of older gods Rudiker couldn’t handle.
And yet this was Amor, one of the highest-ranking gods.
Even if the Creator asked, to propose a way to extort more from Amor right to her face—that a newborn god would do such a thing!
“You heard me? Give it.”
“What!!”
“What on earth! Where is there a law like this! How dare you to Heavenly God Amor! Gah!!”
Was it because Ludicer stepped forward? Resuming her senses, the goddess of vengeance, Poina, shouted at the Creator at the top of her lungs.
And somehow a scene they’d seen earlier played out. Even though Poina had prepared in her own way, she was again trampled without knowing how she was struck down.
“A being that is a god cannot even observe the rules of honor? Truly embarrassing. To speak before the Creator, who cannot be compared in rank to Amor, and dare to say ‘Amor’ instead of the honorifics? What is your intellectual level?”
“Gah!! Kraaah!!”
“F-Father! Th-this is persecution!!”
“It’s not.”
“…Yes?”
“You were the one who first spewed killing intent. And there, our adorable Ludicer spoke well. I’m teaching you manners. About honorifics. A god not knowing that too makes me ashamed. Even a private wouldn’t call a division commander ‘Sergeant’ in front of them, probably.”
Since becoming a god, Amor thought there had never been a day her expectations were so repeatedly overturned.
She had no sense of where to begin or what to do. Her mind went blank and she felt dazed.
In the end, Amor raised a white flag to the Creator before all the gods. She cried and begged, pleading to be spared and hoping for lenient treatment.
The gods of Amor’s faction frowned at the sight, while the gods of the Serpens faction laughed loudly.
And the gods of the neutral faction looked up at the Creator once more.
‘As expected, Kim Han, this adorable brat. You are really amazing!’
The Creator smiled solemnly, leaving everyone unaware of what he was thinking.
